Effect Of Zeolite Support Of Nickel-Copper Catalyst On Conversion Of Palm Oil To Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Natnicha Ritmun
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is increasingly recognized as a critical alternative for reducing the environmental impact of the aviation industry, which is a significant source of global greenhouse gas emissions. SAF production primarily utilizes vegetable oils as feedstock rather than biomass, due to their low functional group content and chemical structure that closely resembles that of fossil fuels. This research focuses on the development of bimetallic catalysts made from nickel, with copper as promoters, supported on various zeolites including SAPO-11, Zeolite Y, and Zeolite ZSM-5. The chemical and physical properties of these catalysts were analyzed using several techniques, including X-ray …

The Impact Of N-Glycans On The Immune Response Of Plant-Produced Sars-Cov-2 Rbd-Fc Proteins, Theerakarn Srisangsung
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
N-glycosylation is a crucial post-translational modification that significantly affects immune recognition. The plant-based platform, especially Nicotiana benthamiana, offers scalable and cost-effective production of therapeutic proteins with glycosylation patterns similar to mammalian cells. However, plant-specific N-glycans, such as α(1-3)-fucose and β(1-2)-xylose (XF), have the potential to trigger allergic reactions. This study investigates how various N-glycan structures on the RBD-Fc fusion protein influence the immune response in mice. The RBD-Fc fusion protein was used for vaccine formulation, produced in both wild-type (WT) and glycoengineered (∆XF) N. benthamiana plants. N-glycan analysis showed a predominance of mannose (Man) in RBD-Fc with an ER retention …

Inheriting Shame: A Critical Analysis Of “The Eugenics Review”, Brygette R. Kunde
All Student Theses and Dissertations
The Eugenic Society was a group of self-proclaimed "Race-Improvers" who came together intending to better humanity by founding The Eugenics Society and producing, "The Eugenics Review,” a publication that circulated throughout the United States from 1909 until 1968. Eugenicists wrote on diverse topics surrounding race betterment by introducing scientific methods that were both inhumane and injustice based on their parochial, perceived notions that inequalities are ubiquitous. Categories like religion, race, class, nationality, gender, and many others have been the sources of stigmatization, discrimination, and conflict throughout the centuries in the United States. Assessing the development of the eugenics movement is …

Spirituality is important when it comes to a client's identity, mental health functioning, treatment planning, recovery, and prevention work. However, in the United States, there tends to be a separation between the sacred and the secular. Integrating spirituality within the therapeutic setting is among counselor education and professional practices' most challenging and misunderstood areas (Stebnicki, 2017). A phenomenological qualitative design was used to collect data from participants. The study allowed licensed clinical professional counselors to discuss their experiences related to how they incorporate spirituality into their counseling sessions and how their perception and experience with the Black/African American community impacted …
Violence & Volition: Choice, Acceptance, And Identity In Selected Works By Flannery O'Connor, Kurt Vonnegut, And Cormac Mccarthy, Lisa Farrell
All Student Theses and Dissertations
Violence is ubiquitous in American Fiction, especially in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In “A Good Man is Hard to Find”, “Good Country People”, and “The Displaced Person” Flannery O’Connor highlights the choices people make within that violence can directly affect the results of that violence. Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, through the character of Billy Pilgrim, extends choices around violence even further, suggesting that inaction is sometimes the best plan. Cormac McCarthy’s No Country for Old Men highlights how a combination of action and inaction, depending on the situation, can help or hurt someone when violence surrounds them.

Judges And The Regulatory State: Trends Of Resistance And Restraint, Luke Norris
Judges And The Regulatory State: Trends Of Resistance And Restraint, Luke Norris
Law Faculty Publications
The last great confrontation between courts and the regulatory state occurred at the turn of the previous century. As courts in the first decades of the twentieth century resisted regulatory laws designed to protect workers and curb market excesses, they sustained broad legal and public critique, including claims that they were guardians of corporate power and monied and propertied interests. The showdown, as is familiar fare, was seemingly resolved in the New Deal, with the Supreme Court and judiciary largely accepting the constitutionality of federal and state regulatory laws. The compromise that emerged, dubbed the “New Deal settlement,” ostensibly called …

Species conservation and management benefit from precise understanding of natural patterns of dispersal and genetic variation. Using recent advances in indirect genetic methods applied to both adult plants and dispersed seeds, we find that the mean seed dispersal in a threatened marine foundation plant (the eelgrass Zostera marina) is approximately 100-200 m. This distance is surprisingly more similar to that of wind-dispersed terrestrial seeds (~10s to 100s of meters) than the passive dispersal of marine propagules via currents (~10s to 100s of kilometres). Because nearshore marine plants like Zostera are commonly distributed across strong selective gradients driven by bathymetry (depth) …

The aim of the study was to determine the optimal conditions for extracting the aroma from lavender flowers using the response surface methodology (RSM). The effects of temperature (40–65°C), extraction time (20–70 min), and the ratio of dried lavender flowers (15–27.6 g) to butter (200 g) on the linalool content and aroma liking scores were investigated. The study found that the optimal conditions were …

Aflatoxins (AF) are harmful carcinogens found in feeds and foods. Aflatoxin B1, the most known natural carcinogen, was classified as a Group I carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). To respond to this problem, molecularly imprinted polymers coated on Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4@MIP) were synthesized by polymerization method using 5,7-dimethoxycoumarin (DMC) as the template and methacrylic acid (MAA) as the functional monomer. Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were used as a core structure to enhance recycling performance. After the removal of the template, Fe3O4@MIP composites were characterized using x-ray powder diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), vibrating …

Learning in deep learning architectures for computer vision is a resource-intensive process. Although the accuracy of state-of-the-art models has improved over time, these methods still require significant time and memory to process large datasets, particularly in the context of streaming image data. The necessity to store and reprocess old data each time new data is introduced leads to inefficient resource usage. A more efficient approach is to learn from data in chunks and discard the previously processed data. However, this strategy often results in catastrophic forgetting. In this study, we propose a novel algorithm called CNN-SCIL, which enhances the Streaming …

Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) is one of the advanced modalities in recent radiotherapy. It uses the inverse treatment planning system for optimization and dose calculation. However, this approach is a trial-and-error process, which takes a long time. An accurate deep-learning model that can predict the dose would solve this issue. This approach can save more treatment planning time, by guiding the planners to the optimum dose while maintaining the plan quality. The 40 previously treated prostate cancer plans were collected the volumetric information of PTV and OARs, overlapping volume, and the dosimetric information. The regression deep learning model, which …
