In the era of advances in information technology, early childhood education can use various media, including film, which is considered a very effective means of conveying messages or ideologies with audio-visual power. The animated film Upin-Ipin, as one of the contestants in the arena of animated film ideology, has an important role in instilling moral values in children. Through the moral message conveyed through the film, the personality formation of young children can be aligned with the moral message conveyed. This study, which applies a qualitative research approach with library methods, uses primary and secondary data as sources of information. …

Soybean [Glycine max(L.) Merr.] is a globally important crop due to its valuable seed composition, versatile feed, food, and industrial end-uses, and consistent genetic gain. Successful genetic gain in soybean has led to widespread adaptation and increased value for producers, processors, and consumers. Specific focus on the nutritional quality of soybean seed composition for food and feed has further elucidated genetic knowledge and bolstered breeding progress. Seed components are historical and current targets for soybean breeders seeking to improve nutritional quality of soybean. This article reviews genetic and genomic foundations for improvement of nutritionally important traits, such as protein and …

Background: Each year, approximately 6 million Americans are treated for skin cancer, resulting in a total annual medical expense of $8.9 billion 1. The two most common types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma (BCC) followed by squamous cell carcinoma (SCC)2. The metastatic potential of these cancers is minimal; however, their treatment may involve severe scarring and disfigurement2. In contrast, melanoma is an aggressive skin malignancy that grows rapidly and can metastasize in a quick manner2. Risk factors of these skin cancers include UV exposure, fair skin complexions, …

Course Correction: Navigating Equity In Ninth-Grade Advanced Placement, Sarah R. Morris, Sarah C. Mckenzie, Miranda Vernon
Education Reform Faculty and Graduate Students Publications
This robust mixed-methods study examines ninth-grade advanced course placement in Arkansas, revealing disparities rooted in race and socioeconomic status. Utilizing a logit analysis for a five-year pooled sample (n=163,616), we find persistent enrollment gaps for Black ninth-grade students after controlling for prior academic achievement, highlighting systemic barriers to access to advanced courses. Socioeconomic divides are also evident in our analysis. Qualitative findings from counselor interviews highlight the importance of parental involvement in course placement decisions, particularly for students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Overall, we find through these interviews that districts consider a myriad of factors when considering course placement for …

Public Relations Original Case Study: Shein Brand Trip Backlash, Isabel Hodell, Lauren Letts
[Archive] Belmont University Research Symposium (BURS)
This case examines Shein's controversial brand trip, which offers a complex narrative involving the intersection of public relations tactics, influencer marketing, and corporate ethics. Shein's reputation has been harmed by allegations of labor violations and unethical practices. In an attempt to improve their image, Shein created a brand trip for American fashion influencers to tour its Chinese factories. However, the influencers' glowing reviews sparked backlash as they failed to address Shein's history of exploitation and were claimed to be full of propaganda. This paper examines the aftermath of the brand trip, examining Shein's response as well as the backlash’s impact …

one of the results of viral outbreaks, including the recent Corona pandemic, is that a Corona patient who is in intensive care considers this illness as one of the defects of marriage, and can his wife claim the annulment of the marriage based on this defect? Is he allowed to marry, or is he prevented from marrying based on the hypothesis of introducing a new heir to the heirs and thus harming them.? And from the results of the Corona virus also, and after the general closure, and after the development that took place in social media, is it permissible …

Dementia Diagnosis And Personality Change, Molly Pavek
Dementia Diagnosis And Personality Change, Molly Pavek
Counselor Education Capstones
The diagnosis of dementia is typically overlooked when thinking about mental health. It has been around for over a century, yet there have been minimal breakthroughs in research. This diagnosis is quite complicated, given the unexpected and sometimes abrupt nature of symptoms. There is still no cure and there are no medications that stop, slow down, or reverse the diagnosis. Several cognitive and behavioral symptoms accompany a dementia diagnosis; a change in personality being one of the most apparent. Researching personality changes over time, allows researchers discover patterns among the diagnosed and medical professionals, the diagnosed, and caregivers of the …

Beyond The Basics: Unraveling The Complexity Of Coronary Artery Calcification, Satwat Hashmi, Pashmina Wiqar Shah, Zouhair Aherrahrou, Elena Aikawa, Rédouane Aherrahrou
Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences
Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is mainly associated with coronary atherosclerosis, which is an indicator of coronary artery disease (CAD). CAC refers to the accumulation of calcium phosphate deposits, classified as micro- or macrocalcifications, that lead to the hardening and narrowing of the coronary arteries. CAC is a strong predictor of future cardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction and sudden death. Our narrative review focuses on the pathophysiology of CAC, exploring its link to plaque vulnerability, genetic factors, and how race and sex can affect the condition. We also examined the connection between the gut microbiome and CAC, and the impact …
