Online learning planning presents unique challenges that aspiring teachers must prepare for. This study aims to identify potential teachers' perspectives on designing technology-based instruction. Competency dimensions were created based on the findings of focused group discussions (FGD) with teachers and lecturers, which resulted in aspects of social networking, managing digital identity, filtering, creating content, and reusing. Following the FGD, indicators of nine dimensions"”pre-learning, opening planning, material mastery, learning models, learning resources, student involvement, assessment of processes and results, interaction mastery, and closing learning"”were created. Samples were taken through simple random sampling of 250 prospective teachers in education study programs at …

Assessing The Feasibility And Mechanism Of Destructive Removal Of Per- And Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (Pfas) From Water, Kaushik Vinaykumar Londhe
Dissertations
One of the most pertinent challenges faced by the drinking water community is the widespread contamination of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These anthropogenic chemicals have been ubiquitously used in everyday products such as carpets, stain repellents, dyes, shampoos, non-stick cookware as well as in aqueous firefighting foams. PFAS are linked with adverse health effects in humans such as thyroid disease, obesity, immunological and reproductive disorders and linked to cancer in adults and low birth weight and developmental defects in infants.
Conventional water treatment technologies have proven to be largely ineffective in PFAS remediation, due to their extreme stability and …

REID (Research and Evaluation in Education)
The need to take English as a foreign language proficiency test (known as TOEFL [Test of English Language Proficiency]) has been gaining popularity in Indonesia. The increasing demands for such a test and its expensive cost have reinforced many institutions to develop TOEFL instruments and administer the test internally. However, constructing a test instrument is a complex process that makes conducting item analysis become more challenging. Meanwhile, item analysis is crucial to assess the items' quality. Therefore, this study reported the results of statistically analyzing 20 questions of TOEFL reading comprehension that were analyzed in terms of the test reliability, …

Today it is necessary to change the orientation of the Civics curriculum which is globally oriented. In other words, it is necessary to engineer the Civics curriculum development. This paper attempts to present theoretical frameworks for engineering the development of a democratic and globally oriented Civics curriculum. There are at least six theoretical frameworks, namely the Birdcage Theory, Crystal Theory, Tree Theory, DNA Theory, Mushroom Theory, and Amoeba Theory. The six …

Distributed Intelligence: Exploring Federated Paradigms Across Computing And Networking On The Edge, Yang Deng
Dissertations
Computer Graphics (CG) revolves around virtual content creation using computational methods, spanning applications from games to visual effects. Typically, the creation of CG content is led by expert practitioners who guide computational algorithms towards satisfactory results. Thus, creating CG content often requires manual iterations encompassing algorithm design, parameter tuning, and aesthetic feedback. This work investigates how to leverage crowd-sourcing to streamline such creation processes, focusing on animation and simulation. In animation, a novel crowd-sourcing framework is proposed for combat animation, enabling users to analyze motion similarities, and retrieve matching motions using novel crowd-sourced motion features. Such features enable quantifying previously …

Strategies For Creating Inclusive Learning For Learners Experiencing Barriers To Learning, Zakhele Dennis Nzuza
REID (Research and Evaluation in Education)
Inclusive learning compels all public schools to accommodate all learners and implement curricula that meet their needs. This study explored strategies for creating inclusive learning for learners who experience barriers to learning. Most of the literature on inclusive learning in schools has discussed the tension between theoretical approaches and the practical achievements of inclusive learning during teaching and learning. Furthermore, the local literature has demonstrated that educators try to modify and differentiate the existing curriculum with no tangible results for learners experiencing barriers to learning and not comprehending the content of the curriculum. This gene …
