Tsrna-15797-Modified Bmsc-Derived Exosomes Mediate Lfng To Induce Angiogenesis In Osteonecrosis Of The Femoral Head, Shanhong Fang, Mengqiang You, Jie Wei, Peng Chen
Turkish Journal of Biology
Background: Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is an ischemic disease characterized by the impairment of angiogenesis. We have previously elucidated the role of tsRNAs and BMSC exosomes in ONFH, but whether tsRNA-modified BMSC exosomes promote angiogenesis in ONFH remains unclear. Methods: The expression of angiogenesis-related tsRNA in plasma exosomes from ONFH patients was examined by q-PCR. The function of tsRNA in HUVECs was identified by CCK-8 and angiogenesis assay. Exosomes purified from tsRNA-15797 overexpressed BMSCs were cocultured with HUVECs to examine their role in angiogenesis. The molecule mechanism of tsRNA-15797-modified exosomes was explored by RNA sequencing, dual-luciferase assay, and …

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpressing subtype is related to poor prognosis with an aggressive phenotype and is reported as one of the most commonly seen subtypes. Trastuzumab is prevalently used as a treatment method for HER2+ breast cancer however, resistance to the drug frequently occurs following the treatment. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are 19-23 nucleotide long small RNAs, which regulate gene expression at posttranscriptional level and studies show that there are differentially expressed miRNAs between drug sensitive and resistant groups, indicating that they might have some key roles in …

Evaluation Of Photochemically Cross-Linked Collagen/Gold Nanoparticle Composites As Potential Skin Tissue Scaffolds, Evri̇m Meri̇ç Yelkuvan, Özge Erdemli̇, Bengi̇ Yilmaz, Ömer Aktürk
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Collagen type I is the main structural unit in skin tissue and is therefore used preferentially in skin tissue scaffolds. However, collagen-based 3D scaffolds have weak aqueous stability and degradation profiles in their uncross-linked states and chemical cross-linking reagents arise toxicity concerns, which generally restrict the spectrum of their biomedical applicability. Here, the research goal is to photochemically cross-link collagen type I with rose bengal (RB) when subjected to green laser light and to investigate the effect of silk sericin-capped gold nanoparticles (S-AuNP) when incorporated into scaffolds on the cross-linking process and thus on the scaffold properties. All the collagen …

Estimation Of The Work Of Adhesion Between Ito And Polymer Substrates: A Surface Thermodynamics Approach, Sali̇h Özbay
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Indium tin oxide (ITO) is one of the most widely used semiconductor among transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) due to their electrical conductivity and optical transparency properties. Since the development of low temperature deposition methods, coating of ITO on polymer substrates especially for use in flexible electronics has been a popular topic. The existence of adequate adhesion strength between ITO and polymer is critical in producing a successful film. Nowadays, polycarbonate (PC), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and polyethyleneterephtalate (PET) are frequently used as substrates for such coatings. However, there may be other polymeric alternatives that have a potential to be used for …

Structure-Emission Relationship Of Some Coumarin Laser Dyes And Related Molecules: Prediction Of Radiative Energy Dissipation And The Intersystem Crossing Rate Constants, Msa Abdelmottaleb
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Dye lasers are commonly used in optical investigation because their solutions in organic solvents deliver tunable, coherent emissions. They exhibit intense fluorescence owing to some specific spectroscopic characteristics. One drawback of the laser dyes is that it shows excessive triplet-state losses (TSLs.) The lack of theoretical predictions of fluorescence rates, intersystem crossing (ISC), and phosphorescence in laser dyes prompted us to report on the predicted rates of radiative and nonradiative transitions of some laser dyes. Structural engineering by some substituents influencing the simulated rates of coumarin laser dye derivatives for an efficient operation was investigated. The NH$_{2}$ functional group renders …

Synthesis And Kinetic Analysis Of Poly(N-Acryloylmorpholine) Brushes Via Surface Initiated Raft Polymerization, Esma Mutlutürk, Tuncer Çaykara
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Polymer brushes are promising many applications as smart materials and biocompatible surfaces. Surface-initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization is one of the most effective techniques for synthesis of well-defined polymer brushes. Herein, a biocompatible, uniform and stable poly(N-acryloylmorpholine)-silicon hybrid system was achieved using surface-initiated RAFT polymerization. Evidence of a well-controlled surface-initiated RAFT polymerization was confirmed by a linear increase of number average molecular weight (M$_{n}$) with overall monomer conversions. Water contact angle, ellipsometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy verified the presence of poly(N-acryloylmorpholine) (poly(NAM)) on silicon wafers. The grafting density (σ) and the average distance between grafting …

Enhanced Ionic Conductivity And Mechanical Strength In Nanocomposite Electrolytes With Nonlinear Polymer Architectures, Recep Bakar, Saeid Darvishi, Erkan Şenses
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Solvent-free polymer-based electrolytes (SPEs) have gained significant attention to realize safer and flexible lithium-ion batteries. Among all polymers used for preparing SPEs electrolytes, poly(ethylene oxide), a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer, has been the most prevalent one mainly because of its high ionic conductivity in the molten state, the capability for the dissolution of a wide range of different lithium salts as well as its potential for the environmental health and safety. However, linear PEO is highly semicrystalline at room temperature and thus exhibits weak mechanical performance. Addition of nanoparticles enhances the mechanical strength and effectively decreases the crystallization of linear …

Additive-Free Synthesis Of Poly(N-Vinyl Pyrrolidone) And Poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide) Nanogels With Controlled Sizes, Semi̇ha Duygu Süteki̇n, Feyza Kiraç, Olgun Güven
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
An easy method is proposed to prepare poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNiPAAm) nanogels with sizes less than 100 nm. The underlying principle is to prepare dilute polymer solutions in acetone/water mixtures where acetone acts to break tridimensional structure of water hence disrupting the H-bonds bridging polymer coils causing separation and shrinkage in their sizes. Irradiation of these solutions by gamma-rays directly leads to the formation of intramolecular crosslinks within the coils resulting with nanogels with sizes smaller than precursor coils. While the average size of nanogels of PVP irradiated in water only is 236 nm, they were reduced to …

Zinc-Mediated Efficient And Selective Reductive Aza-Claisen Rearrangement Of N-Allyland N-Propargylaminoanthraquinones In Ionic Liquid, Fereshteh Albooyeh, Ghasem Aghapour
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
An efficient method is described for the first time for reductive aza-Claisen rearrangement of 1-(N-allylamino) anthraquinones to 1-amino-2-(prop-2?-enyl)anthraquinones using zinc powder in 1-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Hmim] BF4) as an ionic liquid in good to excellent yields. Extending of this method on 1-(N-propargylamino)anthraquinones causes the production of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphtho[2,3-h]quinoline-7,12-diones containing a newly synthesized six membered heterocyclic ring on anthraquinone core via performing this reductive [3,3] sigmatropic reaction followed by cyclization in a tandem manner. These rearrangements can be executed even in the presence of some other functional groups with excellent chemoselectivity.

Turkish Journal of Chemistry
As known, in the synthesis of conductive polyaniline polymer from aniline monomer, the polymerization medium must be acidic. In order to make the polymerization medium acidic, protonic acids such as HCl and H2SO4 are generally used. In this study, two acids have been used to make the polymerization medium acidic. One of them, as we know, is H2SO4 as a protonic acid. The other acid is the zinc ion, which is a Lewis acid. The metal ion has never been used for this purpose up to now. Two polyaniline polymers have been synthesized to prove that conductive polymers can also …

The pharmaceutical cocrystal was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and the self-assembling mechanism was explored. The dissolution and cumulative release in vitro were investigated. Molecular dynamic (MD) simulation combined with fluorescence spectroscopy was used to study the delivery mechanism of AP-Nico to HSA. The results showed that AP was …

The MgCl2?NH3 reactive system is investigated in terms of heat and mass transfer coupled with chemical reaction through numerical simulation. The reversible nature of the chemical reaction is captured by including adsorption and desorption terms in the rate expression simultaneously. The kinetic coefficients of the adsorption are directly adopted from the literature, while those for the desorption reaction are calculated based on the thermodynamic relations. The impact of changing pressure and pellet porosity are also investigated in the simulations. The initial temperature of the pellet is 300 K in all simulations. Temperature, NH3 pressure, and conversion distributions in the pellets, …

A novel amphiphilic graft copolymer possessing polypropylene (PP) main chain and poly(oligoethylene glycol methacrylate) (POEGMA) pendant units was synthesized starting from chlorinated polypropylene (PP-Cl), and characterized. PP-Cl produced macroradicals at chlorine bounded carbon atoms by visible light irradiation in the presence of dimanganese decacarbonyl [Mn2(CO)10] and initiated the free-radical photopolymerization of an acrylate monomer, namely oligoethylene glycol methacrylate (OEGMA). Furthermore, fiber formation ability of PP-g-POEGMA was tested by electrospinning technique. The chemical structure and some features of the corresponding amphiphilic graft copolymer PP-g-POEGMA was characterized by implementing spectral (FT-IR, 1H-NMR), chromatographic (GPC), morphological (SEM), water wettability (WCA), and thermal (TGA) …

Superhydrophobic and oleophilic modification of commercial acoustic melamine foam (MF) was made in this study. The modification was carried out with chitosan (CHI) and silica particles (SiO2), by using both a layer-by-layer-like approach (LbL) and dip coating technique. Subsequently, 1-octadecanethiol was used as a secondary modification agent. QCM-D, SEM, and FTIR analyses confirmed that the coating was successfully performed. After the modification, the column wall thicknesses increased than that of MF and they ranged from 25% to 48% for modified MF with an LbL-like approach (MMF) and modified MF via dip coating technique (MMFd), respectively. The sorption experiments showed that …

New field observations and discovery of calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera from the 'shallow-marine' Çayraz Formation (Haymana Basin, Central Anatolia), a contributing Eocene section to the shallow benthic zonation (SBZ) in the Tethys, allow us to revise its stratigraphy and establish an integrated biostratigraphic scheme for the first time. The hemipelagic marls in the uppermost part of the Eskipolatlı Formation that underlies the Çayraz Formation yielded nannofossil assemblages of Zone CNE3, pinning down the initiation of the Çayraz shelf system into the 'middle' Ypresian. The prominent marly part (Member B) between the carbonate-clastic packages of the Çayraz Formation with prolific …
