At Noon: (Post)Nihilistic Temporalities In The Age Of Machine-Learning Algorithms That Speak, Talha Issevenler

Publications and Research

This article recapitulates and develops the attempts in the Nietzschean traditions to address and overcome the proliferation of nihilism that Nietzsche predicted to unfold in the next 200 years (WP 2). Nietzsche approached nihilism not merely as a psychology but as a labyrinthic and pervasive historical process whereby the highest values of culture and founding assumptions of philosophical thought prevented the further flourishing of life. Therefore, he thought nihilism had to be encountered and experienced on many, often opposing, fronts to be fully consumed and left behind. Thus, just as Nietzsche captured the subtle reinventions of nihilism in new forms …

Benchmark: Reducing Surgical Plume Output With Smoke Evacuation, Kaitlynn Olano

MSN Capstone Projects

This project focuses on addressing the critical issue of surgical smoke exposure in operating rooms through the strategic implementation of smoke evacuation systems. The primary objective is twofold: to prioritize the safety and well-being of healthcare professionals and to ensure that patient care remains uncompromised. It strives to reshape the operating room environment, making surgical plume exposure a thing of the past.

Extensive research forms the core of this project. A comprehensive literature synthesis, including systematic reviews, randomized control trials, prospective and cohort studies, and qualitative research, underscores the occupational safety concerns related to surgical plume exposure. Poetic Representations Of Covid-19 Narratives: An Exploration Of Emotional Experiences During The Pandemic, Isha Harshe, Lindy Davidson

The Qualitative Report

In pivotal moments of history like the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical to attend to and preserve the stories of different people experiencing the same phenomenon in their own ways. This project analyzed the public’s emotional experiences during the pandemic using methods of narrative and poetic inquiry. After reading 105 entries from the Pandemic Journaling Project, an online platform where people anonymously published journal entries reflecting on their pandemic experiences, narratives were categorized based on ten prominent emotional themes: anger, anxiety, fatigue, fear, loneliness, longing, loss, loss of control, stress, and uncertainty. Found poems were constructed for each emotion …

"When The Spring Flowers Bloom": Dorothy Fuldheim, The Kent State Killings, And Vietnam War Foreign Policy, Pablo Rangel Jr.

Theses and Dissertations

Dorothy Fuldheim is a significant figure in American history. A local legend of news broadcasting in Cleveland, Ohio, Fuldheim wrote and broadcasted exceptional commentaries that demanded the attention of her audience. Her evolving style caught the attention of many across the United States, eventually making her a nationally recognized journalist. Little scholarship has been written on Fuldheim and her contributions to the fields of history, allowing this thesis to lead the way in analyzing her life and work. The primary purpose of this thesis is to use Dorothy Fuldheim as a window to contextualize the events at Kent State University …

Navajo Folk Elements In Sandpaintings For Piano By Connor Chee, Le Bai Dec 2023

Navajo Folk Elements In Sandpaintings For Piano By Connor Chee, Le Bai

Dissertations

Sandpainting is an art form that exists among the Navajo and Pueblo

Indians and is valued for religious reasons due to its connection with healing ailing individuals. Originally, the sacred sandpaintings were not allowed to be used or created outside of a healing ceremony, because, similar to a musical performance, they only existed during the ritual itself.

Connor Chee (b. 1987) is a Navajo pianist and composer renowned for

fusing classical piano training with his Native American heritage. Chee composed Sandpaintings for Piano in 2021 (revised in 2022), which is based on sandpainting from Navajo culture.

This document discusses Navajo …

In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, the hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of …

The Disney College Experience: A Full Recollection Of Moments And Memories Of The Disney College Program Internship, Lauren Jumonville

Undergraduate Honors Theses

I decided to do the Disney College Program as my honors thesis because Disney is something I am very passionate about. I worked for the Disney Company before and knew that I wanted to continue my experience with them. I went into the program hoping to discover what the college program could do to prepare me (or any prospective programmer) for the profession and for a life in performance. In January of 2023, I made my way to Orlando, Florida, to start my next journey with the Walt Disney World Company. I went through four different orientation processes, as well …

Determinants Of Delayed Emergency Caesarian Sections In Machakos County Referral Hospital, Kenya: A Retrospective Study, Anne Loko Mutiso Dec 2023

Determinants Of Delayed Emergency Caesarian Sections In Machakos County Referral Hospital, Kenya: A Retrospective Study, Anne Loko Mutiso

MSc in Advanced Practice Midwifery

Background: Labour to delivery is a natural process which begins and ends spontaneously. However, the need for an emergency caesarean section arises if the life of the mother or the foetus or both are in danger. Time is of essence and therefore a Decision to Delivery Interval of 30 minutes is considered the gold standard (NICE 2021).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish hospital and client related factors that cause delay in emergency caesarean sections in Machakos County Referral Hospital.

Methodology: A Retrospective Descriptive study design was adopted whereby sample of 368 files of …
