Amidst the rapid advancement of industrialization and urgent demands from both domestic and international economic environments, China has officially entered a historic period of economic transition and demographic dividend shift. This study aims to explore the impact of demographic factors on China’s industrialization process and identify how shifts in the demographic and human capital components have influenced regional industrialization patterns in China over the past 25 years. This study explores the factors driving internal migration in Myanmar, focusing on movements within the past two years and the potential for future migration. Using data from round one of the Myanmar Household Welfare Survey (MHWS), the analysis applies descriptive statistics and logistic regression to explore key migration determinants. By analysing individuals and household characteristics and reasons for recent migration, this study aims to understand the internal migration in Myanmar. The research finds that younger individuals, those who are married or separated, and households with young children are more likely to have migrated. Education level and household size also play …

Exploring The Association Between Religiosity And Health Outcomes In Indonesia's Aging And Pre-Aging Muslim Population: Insights From The Indonesia Family Life Survey 5, Afridah Ikrimah

This study examines the association between Muslim religiosity and health outcomes among the aging and pre-aging populations in Indonesia, utilizing cross-sectional data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS-5) with 4,535 respondents aged 50 and above. Multivariate logistic regression analysis investigates the associations between various dimensions of Muslim religiosity (i.e., self-perceived religiosity, frequency of daily prayer, and frequency of religious attendance) and health outcomes, including self-rated health, functional dependence, depression, insomnia, diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease, tuberculosis, heart problems, high cholesterol, stroke, and hypertension. Chin State has one of the highest fertility rates in Myanmar, which imposes significant pressure on both families and the state's resources. This study investigates the socio-economic factors influencing the number of children ever born (CEB) among ever-married women in Chin State, Myanmar. Using a subsample of 392 women aged 30 years and above from the female samples in Chin State in the Myanmar Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS), data were analyzed through five Poisson regression models. The findings indicate that older women tend to have more children. Women residing in rural areas show higher CEB compared to their urban …

China's oil pollution compensation system, established relatively late, has an imperfect legal framework, leading to numerous issues in claim settlements. Frequent oil pollution incidents significantly damage its marine ecosystem and harm affected parties. Despite initial efforts, China's compensation framework is less effective than those of developed countries. This paper examines the current challenges in China's compensation mechanism for ship oil pollution damage, drawing lessons from Canada and the United States, and proposing improvements. Cytotoxic Compounds From Dendrobium Ochreatum Against Human Lung Cancer H460 Cells, Natthaphitcha Khunsantiphong

The chemical analysis of crude extracts from Dendrobium ochreatum ethanol revealed 12 compounds. Among them, dendroochreatene, a novel discovered compound, and 11 previously identified compounds were found: atraric acid, docosyl trans-ferulate, moscatilin, cinnamic acid, β-hydroxypropiovanillone, loddigesiinol C, dihydroconiferyl dihydro-p-coumarate, indole-3-aldehyde, vanillic acid, naringenin, and 2,4,7-trihydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene. Structural elucidation of these compounds was achieved through MS, IR, UV, and NMR spectroscopic analyses, corroborated by comparison with existing literature data. The cytotoxicity evaluation against NCI-H460 non-small cell lung cancer cells employed two methods: direct cell testing and literature review. The note argues that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) must be updated to address digital accessibility, as its current framework, designed for the physical world, fails to accommodate the realities of the digital age. The ADA's success in promoting physical accessibility contrasts sharply with its inadequacy in ensuring equal access to digital spaces, highlighting the need for a new approach that includes digital platforms under its protections.

Flawed Feminism: An Exploration Of Femininity In Contemporary Domestic Noir, Tyler Miller

Crime fiction is a genre whose female characters are often misunderstood, weak, powerless victims. Domestic noir, a subgenre of crime fiction, does the opposite. Authors of domestic noir fiction dig into the female experiences, seeking to understand and write women characters who represent feminism and femininity despite any shortcomings they have. In Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, I argue that reading this novel through the Critical Feminist Theory changes the interpretation of the female experience. Instead of reading the book for entertainment, digging into the larger scale issues in this book sheds light on the women’s experiences. Gone Girl …

Psychotherapist advice, suggestions, and recommendations (ASR) occur in many psychotherapy sessions and most treatment approaches. This chapter defines ASR, provides clinical examples, and reviews the research evidence for the immediate in-session, immediate delayed, and intermediate effects of ASR, as well as for the moderators of these effects in individual psychotherapy. In seven studies with 327 clients and 131 therapists, evidence of neutral immediate in-session outcomes (e.g., client experiencing levels), neutral immediate delayed outcomes (e.g., client-rated helpfulness during post-session videotape reviews), and positive intermediate outcomes (e.g., implementation of recommendations as rated in subsequent sessions) was found for ASR. This chapter discusses the implicit and explicit strategies the authors, four Black women graduate students, use to mentor each other. They use an iterative storytelling process, guided by a framework uncovered from data collected through Sista Circle Methodology, to discuss how their cohort itself is a conscious being with a mind, heart, body, and soul; that contributes to political and social change at our historically white institution. Their implications are for both graduate students and stakeholders in institutions of higher education – including faculty, staff, and administrators.

This Article assesses the growing and cross-disciplinary literature on energy transitions to explore how it can guide law and policy reforms for the energy sector. The modern conception of energy transition centers primarily on clean energy—a shift away from fossil energy dependence. Two observations about the operation of the criminal legal system are so widely accepted that they are seem undeniable: First, it is a system of pleas, not trials. Second, the system is too punitive and must be reformed. One could easily think, therefore, that the Rules of Evidence, which apply intentionally and explicitly only to the adjudicatory phase of criminal procedure, have nothing to do with the solution. For more than 150 years, legal education has largely followed the course charted by Christopher Columbus Langdell when he became dean of Harvard Law School in 1870. Langdell’s innovations included the case method, high-stakes summative assessments, and preferences for faculty members with experience in “learning law” rather than practicing it. His proposals were innovative and responsive to challenges in legal education at the time, but this Article argues that taking Langdell’s approach to reform—including a willingness toimplement radical changes in the face of institutional shortcomings—requires reimagining his methods for the benefit of today’s students. Does Esg Performance Impact Financial Distress Risk? Evidence From Asia-Pacific Markets, Methee Srikranjanapert

This research investigates the relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance, represented by ESG scores, and Probability of Financial Distress Risk (FDR), as proxied by Ohlson O-Score, for firms operating in the Asia-Pacific region from 2010 to 2022. In addition, the aforementioned relationship during economic crisis and the level of market development is also investigated. The findings reveal a negative association between ESG performance and the probability of FDR in which the increase in ESG performance reduces the likelihood of FDR. This study investigates the empirical association between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors and downside risks in stock returns during negative shocks focusing on 13 countries within the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This paper examines how financial liberalization, institutional quality, and mobile banking adoption affect the probability of a banking crisis using a panel of 36 countries over the period 2000 – 2021. Our key inference is that the relationship between financial liberalization and the probability of a banking crisis is depended in institutional quality. In strong institutional quality countries, the impact of financial liberalization on the probability of a banking crisis is a concave curve, increasing the likelihood of a crisis at low to moderate liberalization levels and reducing it at medium to high levels. The purpose of this research was to study perceptions and experiences of sexual harassment among 355 LGBTQ students in the University. Data was collected by self-administer questionnaire to find perceptions and experiences of sexual harassment. Descriptive, Pearson’s Chi-square and Fisher exact were performed to describe and determine the associations. The research findings indicate that the majority of research participants were perceived to sexual harassment at a moderate level. There was a moderate tolerant attitude towards sexual harassment, and there were experiences of verbal, non-verbal, and physical sexual harassment at a moderate level. This experimental research examines the effect of management’s perspective on auditors’ judgment when they review management discussion and analysis (MD&A). This study predicts that prompting management’s perspective would benefit auditors by enabling them to more accurately review MD&A whether or not the MD&A is materially misstated. Contrary to our expectations, prompting auditors with a management’s perspective will backfire. The results find that auditors prompted by management's perspective are significantly more likely to accept MD&A that has an abnormally positive tone. This individual study explores the Filipino Consumer Perceptions of Thai Fashion Brand GENTLEWOMAN and the quality of the brand’s activism messaging through social media. The data was collected using in-depth interviews on 10 respondents, Filipino females, aged between 20 to 35, the average target consumer of GENTLEWOMAN products. The findings suggest that Filipino Consumers have a very positive perception of GENTLEWOMAN. They find the price to be good, regardless of whether it was purchased through the gray market or through official distribution. The objective of this research is to explore the purchase behavior toward luxury fashion brands among Thai Generation Y consumers during the economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. The research utilized a qualitative approach to gather information from 10 key informants aged 31 to 42, residing in Thailand and spending more than 500,000 Thai baht annually on luxury fashion products. The findings indicate that Thai Gen Y consumers are active followers of economic news and current events, as they consume news on a daily basis and discuss it with their social circle.
