Inhibition Of Chondrocyte Apoptosis Via Fas/Fasl System In Knee Osteoarthritis Patients, Ousakorn Kamenkit
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative rheumatic disease characterized by articular cartilage degeneration. This articular cartilage degradation is positively correlated with chondrocyte apoptosis. The Fas/Fas ligand (FasL) system is part of the extrinsic apoptosis pathway that regulates cell death through the binding of Fas on target cells to FasL on effector cells. Although Fas+ chondrocytes have been identified and the Fas/FasL system has been implicated in this apoptotic process, the apoptosis through chondrocyte-to-FasL+ cell interaction remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to investigate Fas/FasL-mediated chondrocyte apoptosis focusing on cell-to-cell interactions. In our study, we conducted ex vivo experiments using flow cytometry …

The Association Between Medication Adherence, Belief About Medicine, And Other Factors Among Patients With Gout In A Tertiary Hospital In Bangkok, Ratanapha Phuan-Udom
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Objective: For the effective treatment of gout, medication adherence is essential, as the primary goal is to maintain serum uric acid levels below 6 mg/dL. Various factors, including clinical, psychological, and socioeconomic factors, can influence patients' adherence to treatment and subsequently affect gout control. This study aimed to assess the relationship between medication beliefs and adherence to urate-lowering therapy in patients with gout and explore the associated factors. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, patients with gout aged 20–80 years receiving urate-lowering therapy at a tertiary hospital were enrolled. Medical adherence was assessed using the 8-item Morisky Medication Adherence …

Predictive Factors For The Outcome Of Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injection In Low Back Pain: A Prospective Analytic Study, Pornpan Chalermkitpanit
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Background: This prospective analytic study aimed to investigate predictive factors for favorable outcomes in patients with lumbosacral radicular pain following epidural steroid injection (ESI). Methods: 120 patients diagnosed with lumbosacral radiculopathy underwent blood collection at two-time points (before and after ESI). At the 2-week follow-up, a favorable response to ESI was defined as a reduction in pain of at least 50.0%. Predictive factors such as pain manifestation, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and inflammatory cytokines were investigated. Results: A favorable response was observed in 60.8% of patients. The mean differences in serum inflammatory cytokines post-TFESI showed no significant variation between the …
