Parents’ News Consumption And Covid Sources In Their Decisions To Vaccinate, Mildred F. Perreault Phd, Katherine Foss Phd
Journal of Applied Research on Children: Informing Policy for Children at Risk
In Fall 2021, the COVID-19 Delta Variant produced yet another surge of cases and deaths. Many parents eagerly awaited the official emergency authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for younger children. However, other parents had already planned to delay or refuse vaccination. To ascertain how news and information consumption may impact vaccination decisions, a survey questionnaire of parents was conducted in the beginning of September through online posts to social media parenting groups. Of the (n= 1004) surveys completed, 966 parents indicated their vaccination decisions or intent to vaccinate through both closed and open ended questions. Most participants were in favor …

Masters Theses
The subject of my final creative project is a short story about my dream of becoming an artist and realizing that good deeds are the brush strokes of God’s masterpiece. My earliest memories as a child are about the simple joy of drawing and coloring people, places and things from my imagination. I always enjoyed making gifts of my artwork. Serving others is an early calling. Creative thinking and problem solving are special gifts that helped me to survive domestic violence and sexual abuse as a child and to overcome the many challenges I would face during a twenty-six year …

3-Dimensional Quartic Bézier Curve Approximation Model By Using Neutrosophic Approach, Siti Nur Idara Rosli, Mohammad Izat Emir Zulkifly
3-Dimensional Quartic Bézier Curve Approximation Model By Using Neutrosophic Approach, Siti Nur Idara Rosli, Mohammad Izat Emir Zulkifly
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
In a 3-dimensional data collection process, there exists noise data that cannot be included to visualize the process. Therefore, it is difficult to deal with since fuzzy set and intuitionistic fuzzy set theories did not consider the indeterminacy problem. However, using a neutrosophic approach with three memberships: truth, false, and indeterminacy membership function, the error data will be treated as uncertain data by using the indeterminacy degree. Thus, this study will visualize the 3-dimensional quartic Bézier curve model by using neutrosophic set theory. To construct the model, the neutrosophic quartic control point must first be introduced to approximate the neutrosophic …

Augmented Reality Experience And Perception Theory: A Quantitative Study Using Eye Tracking To Investigate How Mobile Phone Users Perceive Multiple Layered Depths, Donna C. Templeton
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This research explores how mobile augmented reality experiences are perceived and interacted with by using a quantitative eye-tracking study to record user eye movement behavior. Visual communication is vital in today’s increasingly visual society and current technology gives evidence of much promise in adding additional engagement, information, and interactivity through augmented reality. Though smartphone technology allows all smartphone users to access and experience browser-based augmented reality, there is little research on design aspects from a user experience perspective, such as the influence of layered depths in an augmented scene. The purpose of this study was to explore the variable of …

In the face of the current environmental crises and the emergent debate over how we as a species should respond to it, local-context discussions, research, and practice are rapidly growing in a number of regions. Within the confines of the design community, there is an ever-growing view of these discussions as representing a culturally diverse perspective on design, as opposed to the current Western-centric design shaped by modernism and capitalist market economies, and as representing the emergence of an emerging design scene of pluriverse. This study extends the concept of the oyster reef conservation project referred to as "Hokkhi," produced …

Preserving Theoretically-Grounded Functions Across Media Platforms In Interaction Design, Brian Sekelsky, Matthew Peterson, Cesar Delgado, Karen B. Chen
Preserving Theoretically-Grounded Functions Across Media Platforms In Interaction Design, Brian Sekelsky, Matthew Peterson, Cesar Delgado, Karen B. Chen
IASDR Conference Series
Designers often address the continuity of user experiences across various media platforms. Features are the focus of media development. But the media-dependency of features means that truly preserving the essence of one feature across media platforms, in a process of cross-media translation, can result in superficially dissimilar features. We describe function mapping as an aid in this translation, in which design features are derived from theoretical assertions, and in turn an understanding of underlying functions permits the translation of features to other media platforms. We demonstrate this in a case study of translation from a VR installation, to portable VR, …

A Layered Approach To Designing Public Health Communication Diagram For Improved Information Accessibility, Young Ae Hahn, Byoungkwan Oh, Inhye Hwang
IASDR Conference Series
Public health communication (PHC) material design requires information accessibility, consideration of the readers’ health literacy, prior knowledge levels, and the depth–length of information the reader can process without feeling too much cognitive burden. We proposed a layered approach to PHC diagram design: providing multi-layered (basic, extended) information, to support the reader’s cognitive activities of recognition and inference-making, while the basic layer reduces some readers’ cognitive loads. A qualitative test conducted with an example layered diagram of how COVID-19 vaccination works confirmed that (1) the college-educated readers in their 20s have an insufficient level of prior knowledge of vaccination and the …
