The study aimed to investigate the effects of oral Lactobacillus plantarum (Lp) administration on some serum/tissue (uterus) antioxidant and cytokine levels as well as histopathologic changes in female rats exposed chronically to Cd. For this purpose, rats were separated into four groups including control (C, n = 8), cadmium (Cd, n = 8), Lp (n = 8), and Cd + Lp (n = 8). Land managers need tools to mitigate wildfire proliferation in the western United States. Prescribed burning may be an effective tool to reduce wildfire severity and promote healthy landscapes. In 2020, a large-scale wildfire provided a rare opportunity to compare early postfire data between areas with and without a history of prescribed burning. Field data were collected approximately one year after a wildfire in fifty 20-meter plots from sites treated with prescribed fire in either 1999, 2007, or 2011 and fifty from sites without a history of prescribed fire. Western snowy plovers (Charadrius nivosus nivosus) breed and winter along sandy beaches and salt pannes of the Pacific coast of the U.S. and Mexico. Since 2015, the percentage of successful nests in Monterey Bay has declined due to predation. This study examines the site fidelity and dispersal of western snowy plovers after repeated nest loss using nesting data from 2013-2020 from a banded population in Monterey, California. Dispersal distance within a breeding season reflected plovers serially polygamous breeding strategy, with more site fidelity within a breeding season than between two breeding seasons. Anthropogenic disturbance that results in habitat loss is the leading cause of the current extinction crisis. To mitigate loss of habitat, protected lands are dedicated to preserving ecosystems, but such areas often allow outdoor recreational activities. Research has shown negative impacts on a range of species from outdoor recreational activities, and there is little information about potential impacts of mountain biking on wildlife. Extensive agriculture poses a major threat to biodiversity worldwide, although some species, such as the barn owl (Tyto alba), can thrive in many agroecosystems. Barn owls, the world's most widely distributed owl, provide rodent management, and their presence may be both an indicator of and support for ecosystem biodiversity. Little previous research documents the relationship between barn owls and adjacent crop attributes, however. In 2018, hemp (Cannabis sativa) was taken off the federal Controlled Substance Act list and permitted as an agricultural crop. Hemp is now rapidly increasing in extent in Oregon, USA. Even when our communities become targets of environmental racism and experience the brunt of institution-based degradation, COC resist in a multitude of ways. While there is a plethora of documented social movements led by the Chicanx community for civil, educational, and labor rights, there is a paucity of Chicanx presence in environmental discourse. Shorebird populations are declining worldwide due to habitat fragmentation, degradation, and loss. A potential, understudied set of resources that might be used to benefit waterfowl, especially breeding shorebirds, are artificial wetlands such as stormwater retention basins. This study evaluated the habitat value of stormwater retention basins in the San Francisco Bay Area by measuring species abundance, richness, and behavior. Seston, or biota and other suspended material, was collected and tested for mercury contents. Additionally, the habitat features within each basin were recorded and tracked for changes over a year. Prescribed fire is one way to improve the adaptive capacity of communities in the wildland urban interface in terms of managing wildfire risk and meeting socio-ecological goals. Woody species encroachment depletes historic grassland biodiversity and degrades ecosystem function around the world. In particular, the encroaching trees can shift soil properties and microbial communities, which play critical roles in plant health and global nutrient cycling. Little is known about how removing encroached trees affects soil ecosystems, however. Negative urgency (NU; the tendency to act rashly when experiencing negative emotions) is a robust risk factor for a number of problem behaviors, including early adolescent drinking. Little is known about the factors that precede the development of NU, and hence the full etiology of this component of risk. The current study aimed to investigate the possibility that childhood maladaptive emotion socialization (MES; the tendency for children’s expressions of emotions to be met with punishment, minimized, or invoke a reaction of distress from their parents/caretakers) increases risk for the development of NU. Building upon principles for public engagement and for impact assessment (IA) follow-up, this paper distils best practice principles specific to public participation in IA follow-up. Literature review, followed by a simple survey distributed to IA follow-up and/or public engagement practitioners, helped identify key principles and related published sources. This study examines the optimal sizing of an off-grid hybrid system comprising solar photovoltaic (PV), rice husk-based biomass, and lead-acid battery for meeting the electric demand of a rural community. The construct of ocean identity provides a valuable lens that can unpack the multiple dimensions of human connections with ocean spaces, and crucially places importance on the integration of cognitive, affective, and behavioral components. The construct of ocean identity is applicable in academic and professional contexts, and is largely unexplored from both qualitative and quantitative research perspectives. By leveraging a laser beam transformed into a planar light sheet, suspended particles scatter light, enabling microscopic visualization and trajectory recording through a smartphone linked to a magnifying lens. Microplastics are ubiquitous in all terrestrial and aquatic environments. In this research, microplastic contamination in sea salt produced from traditional and plastic salt fields was studied. Including seawater used as a raw material for producing sea salt in Ban Leam salt fields, Phetchaburi, Thailand. Random samples were collected 3 replicates per point, for a total of 42 samples. 5M NaCl solution was used to separate the density and digest the organic substances using 0.05 M Fe (II) and 30% H2O2. The environmental performance of green buildings is receiving attention from built environment stakeholders. We introduce the concept of green human resource management (GHRM) to analyze how the performance gap in green buildings can be minimized using a human-focused design perspective. We utilize signaling theory and abilities–motivation–opportunity (AMO) theory to explain the interactions between environmental proactivity, GHRM, pro-environmental behaviors, job performance, and environmental performance. Seagrass meadows are effective carbon sinks due to high primary production and sequestration in sediments. However, methane (CH4) emissions can partially counteract their carbon sink capacity. Here, we measured diffusive sediment-water and sea-air CO2 and CH4 fluxes in a coastal embayment dominated by Posidonia oceanica in the Mediterranean Sea. High-resolution timeseries observations revealed large spatial and temporal variability in CH4 concentrations (2–36 nM). Lower sea-air CH4 emissions were observed in an area with dense seagrass meadows compared to patchy seagrass. A 6%−40% decrease of CH4 concentration in the surface water around noon indicates that photosynthesis likely limits CH4 fluxes. Sediments …

The Khong-Chi-Mun was a partially realized irrigation project in Northeast Thailand under the “Greening Isaan” plan of development. Afterward, the Thai government revived it in 2012 under the new name “Khong-Loei-Chi-Mun” (KLCM) This new mega-project aimed to improve water access to the region to increase agricultural rice production and answer to a rising worldwide food demand. วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาความรู้ ทัศนคติและการปฏิบัติที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการเจ็บป่วยจากความร้อนในคนประจำเรือสินค้าและปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการปฏิบัติที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการเจ็บป่วยจากความร้อนในคนประจำเรือสินค้า วิธีการศึกษา การศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาภาคตัดขวาง ณ จุดใดเวลาหนึ่ง ในคนประจำเรือไทยที่ทำงานในบริษัทเดินเรือสินค้าในกรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 246 คน โดยส่งแบบสอบถามออนไลน์ชนิดตอบด้วยตนเองไปยังอีเมลล์ของคนประจำเรือไทย ซึ่งประกอบด้วยข้อมูลปัจจัยด้านบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านงาน ด้านความรู้ ทัศนคติ และการปฏิบัติที่เกี่ยวกับการเจ็บป่วยจากความร้อนในการทำงานบนเรือ ผลการศึกษา ความรู้และทัศนคติส่งผลต่อการปฏิบัติฯ โดยทัศนคติและความรู้ที่ดีจะมีการปฏิบัติฯที่ดี อย่างไรก็ตาม ทัศนคติมีความสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกกับการปฏิบัติฯ มากกว่าความรู้ และพบว่ามากกว่าครึ่งหนึ่งของกลุ่มตัวอย่างมีความรู้ ทัศนคติ และการปฏิบัติฯ อยู่ในระดับน้อยถึงปานกลาง โดยปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับระดับการปฏิบัติฯ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ได้แก่ ระดับการศึกษา กลุ่มตำแหน่งหน้าที่ ประเภทเรือ ลักษณะเวลาการทำงาน และ การทำงานที่ต้องสัมผัสกับแหล่งกำเนิดความร้อนอื่น และยังพบว่า ระยะเวลาการทำงานที่ต้องสัมผัสแหล่งกำเนิดความร้อนอื่นที่มากขึ้น สัมพันธ์กับคะแนนการปฏิบัติฯที่ลดลง สรุป ดังนั้นจึงควรมีการพัฒนา ให้ความรู้ เสริมสร้างทัศนคติ เพื่อนำไปสู่การปฏิบัติฯที่ถูกต้อง และควรมีมาตรการในการป้องกันการเจ็บป่วยจากความร้อนในคนประจำเรือสินค้าไทยในสภาวะอุณหภูมิโลกที่สูงขึ้น

พฤติกรรมเอนเอียงกลุ่มใน คือ แนวโน้มของปัจเจกบุคคลในการเลือกปฏิสัมพันธ์กับผู้ที่มีตัวตนหรือสถานะบางอย่างเหมือนกันกับตนเอง หรือ “กลุ่มใน” มากกว่าผู้ที่มีตัวตนหรือสถานะบางอย่างต่างกับตนเอง หรือ “กลุ่มนอก” ปรากฏการณ์ดังกล่าวเป็นหนึ่งในสาเหตุให้เกิดการเลือกปฏิบัติและพฤติการณ์ทุจริตเชิงระบบอุปถัมภ์ขึ้น และในประเทศไทยปัจจุบันยังพบว่ามีการใช้เส้นสายและระบบอุปถัมภ์เกิดขึ้น โดยมีสาเหตุมาจากการใช้ช่องทางความสัมพันธ์ที่มีลักษณะเป็น “กลุ่มในและกลุ่มนอก” เช่น การใช้ความสัมพันธ์เชิงเครือญาติ สถานะทางสังคมต่างๆ เช่น สถาบันการศึกษา รวมทั้งทัศนคติหรืออุดมคติต่อบางอย่างที่มีร่วมกัน งานศึกษานี้จึงถูกจัดทำขึ้นเพื่อสำรวจคุณลักษณะ และรูปแบบความสัมพันธ์ที่เด่นที่สุด โดยการใช้วิธีการเศรษฐศาสตร์ทดลองในรูปแบบเกมเผด็จการ ผลการศึกษาสรุปออกมาได้ว่าอาสาสมัครมอบเงินจำลองให้ตัวเลือกที่เป็นเครือญาติมากที่สุด ซึ่งมีความเป็นไปได้สูงว่ามีอิทธิพลทางสังคมเกี่ยวกับการตอบแทนบุญคุณ นอกเหนือจากนี้ ผลทางสถิติให้ผลว่าผู้ที่มีความถี่ในการมีพฤติกรรมเอนเอียงกลุ่มในที่สุดคือเพศหญิง โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่มีภูมิลำเนาอยู่นอกกรุงเทพมหานครฯ และปริมณฑล
