Mentor Teacher And Administrator Attitudes And Beliefs Toward Mentoring Programs In K-12 Education In South Mississippi, Krystle Womack

Dissertations

The teaching profession relies heavily on mentor programs to promote teacher retention, to reduce attrition and to increase the quality of new teachers. Teachers grow professionally through gaining knowledge. Mentor teachers show professional growth through knowledge gained from mentoring programs and serving as mentor teachers.

There is a significant gap in mentoring research in that the mentoring literature is limited in perspective. Research focuses solely on the perspectives of the beginning teacher or the person being mentored, but the perspective of more than one stakeholder is needed to give the full picture of induction and mentoring. This study uses a …

"Innumerable Small Crafts": Maritime Work In The Estuarian Gulf, 1865-1900, Kevin Grubbs

Dissertations

Maritime historians have argued for a highpoint in maritime activity during the antebellum years. This peak was fed by Americans travelling on tall wooden sailing ships in international trade, in the whaling industries, and as members of the US Navy. The prowess of the American Merchant Marine faded quickly in the middle of the nineteenth century due to military losses during the American Civil War and due to the rise of steamships and steel hulls. This peak was followed by another lesser peak in the Twentieth Century as American ships caught up with technological changes. World War One provided a …

The Role Of Safety Interventions In Decreasing Unplanned Extubations In Pediatrics: A Benchmark Study, Wesley Bray

MSN Capstone Projects

Unplanned extubation (UE) is the removal of an endotracheal tube from a patient any time before their planned extubation. In layman’s terms it is when a patient loses their airway before they were ready. These events lead to longer hospital stays, cost hospitals thousands of dollars for each case and can cause severe complications for the patient including death. Pediatric patients are a population that are at risk of UEs more so than the general population due to their inability to understand what is going on in the hospital due to their age and development, as well as their ability …

Machine Learning Faculty Publications

As information exists in various modalities in real world, effective interaction and fusion among multimodal information plays a key role for the creation and perception of multimodal data in computer vision and deep learning research. With superb power in modeling the interaction among multimodal information, multimodal image synthesis and editing has become a hot research topic in recent years. Instead of providing explicit guidance for network training, multimodal guidance offers intuitive and flexible means for image synthesis and editing. On the other hand, this field is also facing several challenges in alignment of multimodal features, synthesis of high-resolution images, faithful …

Examining High School Girls’ Experiences In A Global Leadership Program: A Constructivist Grounded Theory Study, Erika Haskins

Theses & Dissertations

The proportion of women in influential leadership positions continues to grow at a slow pace (Beaupre, 2022; Hoyt & Johnson, 2012). Inequalities are still present in the representation of leadership and salary wages (Catalyst, Inc., 2022; Choi, 2018). While progress is evident in regard to diversity and inclusion policies and practices in the workplace, barriers continue to exist that hinder opportunities for women who strive to achieve higher-level positions (Elias, 2018). Automation Complacency On Humans And Cyber-Physical Systems In The Energy Sector, Shannon Olaveson Dec 2023

Automation Complacency On Humans And Cyber-Physical Systems In The Energy Sector, Shannon Olaveson

Cyber Operations and Resilience Program Graduate Projects

Cyber-physical systems (CPS) and the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) enable industrial systems and technology to work together to achieve increased connectivity and operational efficiency through the use of automation. Because automation requires less human interaction to run industrial tasks, a reliance may form on this integration to take over an otherwise manual process. This reliance can cause human behavior to affect operational safety and security, leading to unintentional outcomes or vulnerable areas of adversarial opportunity. The energy sector is one of the most critical infrastructure areas becoming a part of the rise to automation, resourcing gas, oil, and electricity …

Quadratic Transmuted Modified Size-Biased Lehmann Type-Ii Distribution, M. Ibrahem, M. M. Nassar, S. S. Radwan, A. Elmasry

Journal of Statistics Applications & Probability

In this paper, a two-parameter generalization of Modified Size-Biased Lehmann Type-II distribution is obtained, with the purpose of obtaining a more flexible model relative to the behaviour of hazard rate functions. Various statistical properties of this distribution including the density, hazard rate functions, quantile function, mode, moments, incomplete moments, moment generating functions, Lorenz, Bonferroni and Zenga curves, Rényi entropy and distribution of 𝑟# order statistics have been derived. The method of maximum likelihood estimation has been used to estimate the parameters of the Quadratic Transmuted-Modified Size-Biased Lehmann Type-II distribution and its performance is discussed by following a simulation study. Real …
