Healthy Acadia Downeast Community Opioid Response Program: Year 1 Summary, Mary Lindsey Smith Phd, Evelyn Ali Bs, Tyler Egeland Ba, Katie Rosingana Ba
Substance Use Research & Evaluation
The Downeast Substance Treatment Network is a group of diverse organizations working to improve integration and access to treatments and services for people with substance use disorder. The consortium’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program grant project aims to: (1) expand the reach of their treatment network, (2) increase awareness and practice of harm reduction, and (3) facilitate transitions of care to improve partner efficacy. This project included a mixed-methods evaluation led by Catherine E. Cutler Institute’s Substance Use Research and Evaluation Team (SURE). This year 1 summary presentation includes feedback from program partners and key informants, in addition to HRSA-required …
Defining Heroinism: Heartthrobs Refining Heroines In 18th And 19th Century Women's Literature, Grace M. Gibson
Defining Heroinism: Heartthrobs Refining Heroines In 18th And 19th Century Women's Literature, Grace M. Gibson
Honors College Theses
This project will explore the emergence of “heroinism,” a uniquely feminine way in which early female authors approached the heroine’s journey. Barred by male expectations of female conduct both in society and literature, eighteenth and nineteenth century women daring to “attempt the pen” forged stories of heroines with conventions and tropes distinctly, though not entirely, separate from those told of centuries of heroes. I intend to track the ways in which these early tales of heroines told by women strayed from the traditional heroic plot, with unique motivations, mentors, trials, and rewards, but also how they were shaped and confined …

Research On Formation And Evaluation Of Sustainable Cultural Tourism Complexes In China, Wang Xiongwei
Fordham Dissertations and Theses
With the rapid economic development and significant increase in the disposal income of residents since the reform and opening up, both the number of tourists and tourist income have grown at double digits on annual average. Tourism has become an important engine for economic growth. As an important component of tourism, cultural tourism is also developing rapidly and is particularly favored in capital markets both at home and abroad. Most typically, domestic real estate giants like Wanda, Sunac, Evergrande, Zhonghong, and LVC Group, as well as foreign capitals like Disney, Universal Studios and Six Flags have ventured into cultural …
Education Research: Neurologic Education In Physician Assistant Programs, Carl Garubba
Education Research: Neurologic Education In Physician Assistant Programs, Carl Garubba
Physician Assistant Studies | Faculty Scholarship
Background and Objectives A growing number of advanced practice providers (APPs) are entering neurologic practice, and educational initiatives focused on postgraduate training in neurology for these providers are growing in turn. Neurologic education in APP degree programs is not well defined, which limits the ability to tailor these initiatives to the specific needs of APPs. We aim to describe neurologic education in physician assistant (PA) degree programs to better inform these efforts.
Methods The 2018 American Academy of Neurology clerkship director survey was adapted for directors of PA programs via an iterative approach. The survey was distributed to program directors …

A major concern with preterm birth is the risk of neurodevelopmental disability. Poor cerebral circulation leading to periods of hypoxia is believed to play a significant role in the etiology of preterm brain injury, with the first three days of life considered the period when the brain is most vulnerable. This study focused on monitoring cerebral perfusion and metabolism during the first 72 h after birth in preterm infants weighing less than 1500 g. Brain monitoring was performed by combining hyperspectral near-infrared spectroscopy to assess oxygen saturation and the oxidation state of cytochrome c oxidase (oxCCO), with diffuse correlation spectroscopy …
