This report presents findings from an environmental assessment of multiple amusement parks across North America. The assessment aimed to identify opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and water usage. Key findings include: two-thirds of total emissions come from off-site energy generation, significant energy savings potential during off-season periods, variation in energy intensity across locations, and a strong correlation between cooling degree days and energy consumption at one location. Recommendations include reducing electrical consumption, purchasing green energy, installing on-site renewable energy, replacing fossil fuel equipment with cleaner alternatives, and implementing water conservation measures. This study aims to examine the asymmetric volatility of socially responsible stocks and compare it with conventional stocks during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The research used asymmetric volatility modelling with the GJR-GARCH model to detect the presence of a leverage effect in the sample which consisted of one index and 20 socially responsible stocks and 21 indices and 34 conventional stocks. This preliminary proof-of-concept study was conducted to determine if phenotypes of health care transition (HCT) for this vulnerable population could be established. Discusses the image of the world, the concept of a mappamundi, and comments on particular regions and countries, in Gilbert Hay's poem The Buik of Alexader the Conquerour, to argue that Alexander’s mapping, like his military campaigns, reconfigures space as territory that is amenable to exploitation, and that Hay's poem, the only Alexander poem to mention Scotland, shows an historical process, the "translatio imperii," "that will eventually circle back around to a Britain (and a Scotland) no longer imbued with treachery, but ready to assume power."

The male and female terminalia of the poorly known sharpshooter Macugonalia semiguttata are described and illustrated for the first time based on specimens from a mountainous region in Rio de Janeiro State, southeastern Brazil (Atlantic Forest). External characters of the head, thorax, and abdomen of this species are also described and illustrated. Macugonalia semiguttata is compared with other seven similar species of the diverse genus Macugonalia Young, 1977. Among the 28 known species of this genus, it is apparently closely related to Macugonalia dallasi (Signoret, 1853), Macugonalia geographica (Signoret, 1855), and Macugonalia elegantula Cavichioli, 2004. We report on the discovery of a population related to the Blunt-headed Salamander (Ambystoma amblycephalum), a micro-endemic axolotl from Mexico scientifically confirmed only once since its original description in 1940, and now presumably extinct. In 2018, paedomorphic and metamorphosed adults, as well as clutches and larvae, were found in a cattle pond at Nahuatzen, Michoacán state, Mexico, ~60 km away from the type locality (Tacícuaro). Morphometric comparisons suggested high similarity with the type series of A. amblycephalum, while mitochondrial DNA barcoding (16S and control region) revealed close (but imperfect) matching to a reference sequence. To determine the diet of Erythrolamprus aesculapii we reviewed 15 literature sources and make a list of preys registered in Ecuador and South America. In addition, we reported the consumption of an additional species in the list. We identified a total of 40 prey item, 36 (90%) of them are ophidians (34 colubrids and one elapid). E. aesculapii could be considered as an ophiophagous species.

The Brazilian Atlantic Forest (BAF) is hotspot for conservation priorities due to the high concentration and maintenance of biodiversity, comprising more than 600 species of amphibians, of which 88% are endemic to this biome. Many of these species are under some level of threat, especially those with restricted distributions to mountainous regions. Hylodes is the most speciose genus within Hylodidae, housing 26 recognized species of the diurnal frogs related to streams of forest massifs in the BAF. Odonata (dragonflies and damselflies) are important top predators in these communities and serve as indicators of stream health. The focus of this research is to study the natural history of odonate species in headwater montane streams following major hurricane impacts in Puerto Rico. Microturbellarians are all mostly small free-living Platyhelminthes that do not belong to either the Polycladida or Tricladida order. This group includes species of the clades Catenulida and Rhabditophora. Species of microturbellarians are known to live in marine and continental waters such as rivers, where they are diverse and abundant. However, there are few records of microturbellarians in most of the rivers of the Pacific slope of Peru. We added a new record of a freshwater sponge at the family level from Honduras. The presence of the Dosilia genus in Central America was confirmed, extending its distribution by 890 linear miles south of Mexico. This constitutes a new southern range extension of D. radiospiculata from the Nearctic to Neotropical region. The specimen was collected from the Pacific slope of Honduras. Although sponges constitute an important element of a freshwater ecosystem, environmental pressures and contamination of rivers or other aquatic environments, where they exist, have not been considered under any category of protection.

The deviation of expected relationships between taxonomic (TD), phylogenetic (PD), and functional (FD) diversity may inform about some processes (speciation, extinction, competition, and migration) responsible for current biodiversity patterns. We studied the relationship between different dimensions of bird diversity (TD, PD, and FD) of the Yucatan Peninsula (YP) in a context of future climate change. We used ecological niche models to predict the current and future potential distribution of 257 bird species of the YP and estimate their TD, PD, and FD. The white-lipped peccary (Tayassu pecari) is considered a key species for its role as an ecosystem engineer. Given their important ecological function, there is a great concern in the scientific community regarding the many reports of disappearances or great abundance reductions throughout its distribution (from southern Mexico to northern Argentina). Based on an extensive survey effort, we report new data of presence of WLP after a period of no detections in the Argentine Yungas. A before-after control-impact (BACI) design was used to simultaneously evaluate how stream habitat, macroinvertebrate communities, stream temperatures, and riparian conditions responded to beavers building dams within a stream reach. Summarized conditions describing beaver-dammed and undammed stream reaches suggested that 13 of the 18 evaluated metrics differed. After accounting for beavers’ selection of lower-gradient stream reaches with less forested cover, the number of stream and riparian metrics that differed significantly dropped to 5. Beaver dams increased pool area and depth, despite failing to increase the frequency of wood >10 cm in diameter. This suggests that beavers build dams utilizing pieces of …
