Data-Driven Estimation Of The Power Grid Inertia With Increased Levels Of Renewable Generation Resources, Che Kai Chang Dec 2022

Data-Driven Estimation Of The Power Grid Inertia With Increased Levels Of Renewable Generation Resources, Che Kai Chang

Theses - ALL

The thesis investigates methods for estimating inertia in systems at different levels of renewable energy penetrations. Estimating renewable generators' inertia is challenging because their structures differ from traditional generators. Moreover, the power generated from renewable energy resources is not stable, depending on weather conditions. When a power grid has a disturbance, photovoltaic inverter control influences a power grid inertia by different controllers, such as power factor and reactive power control, to bring a power grid back to a steady state. The changing reactive power impacts the frequency, which strongly relates to inertia and increases the inertia estimation problem.

The Servant-Leader On The Battlefield: Themes Of Home, Ambition, Ethics, And Death In The Film 1917, Joe Walsh Dec 2022

The Servant-Leader On The Battlefield: Themes Of Home, Ambition, Ethics, And Death In The Film 1917, Joe Walsh

International Journal of Servant-Leadership

Film provides a unique medium in which the audience can be engaged through many senses, asking viewers to participate in the storytelling beyond a passive consumption of the artform (Barsam & Monahan, 2016). As art acts as a reflection of reality and the human connection to the great unanswered questions, studying film is a powerful case-study device for leadership scholars and practitioners. “No well-made film is unable to teach us something about leadership because leadership is about conflict, choices, and integrity” (Carey, 2005). Leadership studies often looks at military structures and other perilous situations for leadership lessons in success or …

Parent-Child Relationship Quality, Emotion Reactivity, And Suicide Ideation Among Adolescents, Deborah Schaeffer Dec 2022

Parent-Child Relationship Quality, Emotion Reactivity, And Suicide Ideation Among Adolescents, Deborah Schaeffer

Theses and Dissertations

The rate of teenage suicide has increased markedly in recent years, highlighting the need for greater understanding of the factors that underlie such behavior. While separate studies have established significant associations between the quality of the parent-child relationship and suicide ideation, and between emotion reactivity and suicide ideation, no prior research has examined the interaction of these variables. The current study used survey data collected from 111 youth recruited in emergency departments and inpatient units to measure parent-child relationship quality (the PACHIQ-R scale) and emotion reactivity (the ERS) as predictors of severity of suicide ideation at three months into the …

Queer Stories Don't Change Queer Lives, Bhaskar Choudhary

Capstones

Queer representation in films is increasing, and some countries might be doing a better job of depicting the population, with their limited freedom, than the United States. It doesn't often change reality, but perhaps the fact that queer people and queer movies exist is a cause of celebration in itself.

If You Live In New York City, You’Re (Probably) At Risk Of Flooding. Here’S What To Do About It. Digging Into The Information Needed To Live In Nyc As The Climate Changes, Christine A. Zirneklis

Capstones

New York City is a city of water — over 520 miles of rivers, ocean, canals and harbor. Historically, much of what is now New York city was wetlands and marshes. 1.3 Million New Yorkers, or about 15% of residents currently live in a coastal floodplain. More than half of those identify as non-white, and more than half live in areas with low median income.

As severe storms and rainfall become more common with the changing climate, many more neighborhoods further inland, away from the coast, are being impacted by inland flooding which is caused by sewer overflow. New York’s …

Afghan Refugees Engagement Journalism, Angrej Singh

Capstones

My community of focus is Afghan refugees who came to the U.S. after Aug. 15, 2021. Since mid-Aug. of 2021, nearly 76,000 Afghan refugees came to the U.S. after living across eight U.S. military bases for a few months — with the help of resettlement agencies — they have resettled to 48 states in which they are starting to rebuild their lives. During the uncertainty of their legal status, multiple Afghan led organizations have been calling on Congress to pass an Afghan Adjustment Act. This legislation would create a pathway for permanent status to the thousands that were granted entry …
