Abstract: Network-centric warfare, distributed and decentralized command and control gradually replace separately the traditional platform-centric warfare and centralized command and control, and information has become a combat capability. Based on the new information weapon equipment system operation loop, a complex combat network model based on information entropy is constructed, and the combat capability measurement method is proposed. On the basis of the combat capability upgrade being the network driving force, the dynamic evolution rule of the complex combat network is designed and the preferential evolution and stochastic evolution models are constructed. My String Trio, "The Fall," is one of the first works I wrote and recorded in 2020, as my experience with using some modal, tonal, and post-tonal elements employs some non-traditional techniques. The vocal piece "Human Beings" was my experience using Farsi and English texts and employing modal and post-tonal elements. Despite the rapid expansion of higher education, many young adults still enter the labor market without a college education. However, little research has focused on racial/ethnic earnings disadvantages faced by non-college-educated youth. We analyze the restricted-use data from the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 to examine racial/ethnic earnings disparities among non-college-educated young men and women in their early 20s as of 2016, accounting for differences in premarket factors and occupation with an extensive set of controls. Results suggest striking earnings disadvantages for Black men relative to white, Latinx, and Asian men. Compared to white men, Latinx and Asian men …

This paper asks if the law in Nova Scotia adequately reflects the accepted notion that every employee has the right to a workplace free from sexual harassment. Nova Scotia trails most other Canadian jurisdictions in its exclusion of psychological violence and mental health hazards from occupational health and safety legislation. This paper begins by canvassing current legal remedies available to victims of workplace sexual harassment. Concluding that current human rights, tort, and contact frameworks do not sufficiently protect employees, it argues that Nova Scotia’s Occupational Health and Safety Act must be amended to include sexual harassment and other forms of …

Importance: The efficacy of physical activity interventions among individuals with type 2 diabetes has been established; however, practical approaches to translate and extend these findings into community settings have not been well explored. Objective: To test the effectiveness of providing varying frequencies of weekly structured exercise sessions to improve diabetes control. This thesis centers on select artworks in public intervention, photography and video as an exploration of female's relationship to Mexico City's social landscape and urban space during the late 1970s into the early 1990s. In three case studies, I explore historical urban planning, gender relations, and the effects of modernization.

Renewed focus on workplace inclusivity has prompted calls to eliminate the mixed-gender group address “you guys” due to its potential to lower women’s sense of belonging. Our study found that interactions between this address and participant gender affected opinions on gender inequality but did not affect women’s sense of belonging.

Abstract

The current study examined relationships between operant conditioning derived dog training techniques and aggression, fear, and dog-owner relationship. Participants (N = 326) completed two online surveys; 1) a survey created for this study measuring the frequency of use of 14 common dog training techniques, which were grouped into four categories based upon operant conditioning: positive reinforcement, negative punishment, positive punishment, and negative reinforcement and 2) the Canine Behavioral Assessment and Research Questionnaire (C-BARQ), which measured several factors related to dog behavior. This thesis examines a Korean Conceptual photographer, Nikki S. Lee’s performative photographs and film in the series of Projects (1998-2001) and Parts (2002-2005). Through a theoretical analysis of her self-representation in disguise, my research explores established Western stereotypes as well as the artist’s fluid identity in relation to other cultures.

This thesis foregrounds the methodology of humor and play employed by Chilean artists during the late 1970s and early 1980s. I argue that, through comic relief, collaborative practice, and melodrama, artists from different fields worked together in Santiago to reimagine the relationship between intellectuals and the public sphere and criticize the Pinochet regime.

Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) is a type of diabetes, distinct from either type I or type II, that happens before age 25 (MedlinePlus, 2022). Unlike the other two more common forms of diabetes, MODY is classified as a series of monogenetic disorders (American Diabetes Association Professional Practice Committee, 2021), caused by autosomal mutations. MODY is typically characterized by insufficient secretion of insulin, a similar symptom to type I diabetes, classified into 14 different types based on mutations found on different genes. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurological disease that is associated with microglia activation. An important receptor involved in microglia activation is Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2). Recent studies suggest that docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) could reduce the neuroinflammation that is associated with microglia activation. We hypothesized that when DHA concentration was increased, TREM2 expression would decrease, microglia activity would be inhibited, and a resulting decrease in neuroinflammation would be observed. Objective

This qualitative research was conducted to add to the body of knowledge that supports the benefits of service dogs (SDs), as a tertiary treatment modality, to veterans with post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Methods

This grounded theory research design utilized open‐ended, semi‐structured interviews with veterans (n = 10) who were using SDs as a treatment modality for PTSD and/or TBI. Transcripts were analyzed using NVivo qualitative software until data saturation was achieved.

Results

In this study, the properties of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) were examined in cerebral palsy (CP) and typically developed (TD) individuals at rest and after aerobic exercise, focusing on the size, concentration, and microRNA cargo of EVs. Nine adult individuals with CP performed a single exercise bout consisting of 45 min of Frame Running, and TD participants completed either 45 min of cycling (n = 10; TD EX) or were enrolled as controls with no exercise (n = 10; TD CON). Abstract: Considering the difficulty of equivalent modeling of low voltage ride-through(LVRT) characteristics of a wind farm, a neural ordinary differential equation(ODE)-based wind farm LVRT modeling methodis proposed. The input of the model is the voltage and wind speed of each wind turbine at the grid connection point of wind farm, and the output is the current at the grid connection point. Abstract: Aiming at the large scale and redundant parameters of target detection network model, which result in the difficult to deploy the ampoule bottle appearance defect detection model to edge devices, an LC-Faster R-CNN defect detection algorithm based on lightweight network and model compression is proposed. MobileNet-V2 is used as the backbone, and the redundant channels in the convolutional network are trimmed by model pruning strategy. The floating-point parameters are quantized into integers through saturation truncation mapping. Knowledge distillation is used to restore the accuracy of the compressed network.
