Low-Dose Interleukin-2 Reverses Chronic Migraine-Related Sensitizations Through Peripheral Interleukin-10 And Transforming Growth Factor Beta-1 Signaling, Zhaohua Guo, Jintao Zhang, Xuemei Liu, Jacqueline Unsinger, Richard S. Hotchkiss, Yu-Qing Cao
2020-Current year OA Pubs
Low-dose interleukin-2 (LD-IL-2) treatment has been shown to effectively reverse chronic migraine-related behaviors and the sensitization of trigeminal ganglion (TG) neurons through expansion and activation of peripheral regulatory T cells (Tregs) in mice. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of LD-IL-2 and Treg cells. LD-IL-2 treatment increases the production of cytokines interleukin-10 (IL-10) and transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGFβ1) in T cells, especially Treg cells, suggesting that they may mediate the therapeutic effect of LD-IL-2. Indeed, neutralizing antibodies against either IL-10 or TGFβ completely blocked the effects of LD-IL-2 on the facial mechanical hypersensitivity as …

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is a polymer that is expansively employed in denture base construction due to its low cost, aesthetics, lightweight, reparability, and processability. Nevertheless, this material is not ideal to fulfill the mechanical and physical characteristics of dental restorations. Despite the popularity of the thermal polymerization method, the main shortcoming is the prolonged curing period. Thus, correctly selecting a polymerization cycle and post-polymerization treatment is needed to achieve promising outcomes. In autoclave polymerization, pressure plays a crucial function in accelerating the initial polymerization as well as decreasing the pores and remaining monomer level, thereby improving the flexural strength. Besides, …

The static recrystallization/grain growth kinetics of the AZ31 (Mg-3Al-1Zn, wt%) alloy were investigated employing Vickers microhardness and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) measurements. The AZ31 alloy was subject to a hot-rolling for 70% of thickness reduction and then annealed at various temperatures (150°C, 250°C, and 350°C) from 5 min to 24 h. First, the static recrystallization kinetics were analysed by means of the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Kolmogorov (JMAK) model. The results showed that the recrystallization occurred under two regimes both involving their own Avrami exponent/ activation energy. In regime I, the Avrami exponent was found in the range of 1.5-0.35 depending on the annealing …

In soda-lime glass manufacturing, evaporation of volatile compounds from glass melt is the origin of the dust emission from glass tank furnace. The exhausted dust then is deposited on the regenerator and is needed to be removed. Thus, this study focuses on using the dust from melting glass in glass production. The glass batches were prepared from 0 wt% to 10 wt% of the exhausted dust from soda-lime glass production as a substitution of the total raw materials. The analysis of phase and chemical composition of the dust by x-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and x-ray fluorescence technique (XRF) indicated that …

The glass series of xEu2O3-5PbO-25TeO2-(70-x) B2O3, where x=0.1 mol% to 0.6 mol% were prepared by employing the conventional melt quenching method. The non-crystallinity of prepared BTE glasses was examined by the X-ray diffraction method. The very important mechanical properties such as elastic moduli, Debye temperature, Poisson’s ratio, fractional bond connectivity, softening temperature, acoustic impedance, and the thermal expansion coefficient of the BTE glasses have been studied by measuring ultrasonic velocity. The experimental results indicate that the calculated parameters strongly depend on increasing Eu2O3 concentration. The elastic moduli of the prepared samples were found to decrease with Eu2O3 concentration and this …

This article reported that the properties of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures were modified by the thermal oxidation process at different temperatures in the range of 200℃ to 600℃ for 1 h. The Zn films were deposited on a stainless steel mesh by using the electrochemical deposition technique. The elemental composition of Zn and O was exhibited via energy-dispersed X-ray spectroscopy in which the atomic ratio of O/Zn increased with the increase of oxidation temperature. The results showed that oxidation temperature has a significant effect on the morphological and crystal structure. The nanosheet structure of the as-deposited film transferred to the …

Photocatalytic efficiency of ZnO nanorods has been investigated with respect to the concentration of brazilein. Brazilein modified ZnO nanorods were prepared by an impregnation process with 1.0%w/v, 2.5%w/v, and 5.0%w/v of brazilein solution. In order to correlate the variation in concentration distributions and photocatalytic performance, the phase composition, optical properties, and photo-catalytic activities of brazilein modified ZnO nanorods prepared with different brazilein concentrations have been investigated and compared to an unmodified ZnO nanorods. The photocatalytic properties were measured in terms of indigo carmine degradation under visible light irradiation. It was found that ZnO nanorods with the highest visible light-responsive photocatalytic …

A novel investigation on structural and DC conductivity of Eu2O3 activated heavy metal oxide boro-tellurite (BBTE) glasses were analyzed. The boro-bismuth-tellurite glass samples doped with europium trioxide were fabricated by the conventional melt quenching method. The microstructural and structural studies of the glasses have been done by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The DC conductivity of the BBTE samples has been studied at the frequency range 40Hz-6MHz and in the temperature range 303-453K. The XRD and SEM, confirm the non-crystalline and homogeneous properties of prepared glasses. The DC conductivity of glasses obeys Arrhenius behavior and DC …

Thermodynamic calculations have been carried out for growing crystalline Si1-xGex solid solution epitaxial films on Si<100> and Si<111> substrates from a tin solution-melt by liquid-phase epitaxy. Nanoclusters are thought to be involved in crystal growth. To determine the optimal conditions for obtaining a Si1-xGex crystal from a Si-Ge-Sn solution system, we focused on the change in Gibbs energy and the size of the nanoclusters involved in crystal formation. On this basis, a film with a thickness of 5 µm to 8 µm was experimentally obtained in the temperature range from Тc.s.=1135 K (crystallization start temperature) to Тc.t.=1023 K (crystallization termination …111>100>

This research investigated extraction of molybdenum from spent hydrodesulfurization (HDS) catalyst used in petroleum refinery. The spent HDS catalyst still however contains significant amounts of valuable metals such as molybdenum and nickel for example, thereby recovery of such metals are of great interest. Pyro-hydrometallurgical process was utilized in this research to selectively extract molybdenum from the spent HDS catalyst using alkali leaching reagent. The process start from calcination of spent HDS catalyst, alkali leaching using sodium carbonate, purification by carbon adsorption-desorption, precipitation of ammonium molybdate and finally calcination to give molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) as the final recycling product. Effects of …
