Mass Ratio Variance Majority Cleansing And Minority Oversampling Technique For Class Imbalanced, Piboon Polvimoltham
Mass Ratio Variance Majority Cleansing And Minority Oversampling Technique For Class Imbalanced, Piboon Polvimoltham
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
A sampling method is one of the basic methods to deal with an imbalance problem appearing in machine learning. A dataset having an imbalance problem has a noticeably skewed distribution among different classes. There are three types of sampling techniques to solve this problem by balancing class distributions, undersampling technique, over-sampling technique, and combined sampling technique. In this research, the mass ratio variance scores of each data point of the same class are computed and used to remove noise from a majority class and synthesise instances from a minority class. The results of this proposed sampling technique improve recall over …

Identifying The Most Distinctive Characteristics Of A Good Solution For Non-Euclidean Cvrp Using Statistical Learning Model, Piyabut Inbunsong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
A capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP) is a well-known NP-hard combinatorial optimization. Therefore, heuristics are the common methods used to search for a good solution. The algorithms will perform better if characteristics of good solutions of the problem are known. There was a research study in the characteristics of Euclidean CVRP solutions and the knowledge was later applied in a metaheuristic. That study becomes our motivation to study the characteristics of non-Euclidean CVRP solutions. To that end, we considered the solutions of non-Euclidean CVRP in the new Euclidean space with the same or higher dimensions using multi-dimensional scaling in which …

Stochastic Control Model With Carrying Capacity Of Population Management Policy For Squirrels In Durian Orchards, Sasiwimol Auepong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In this thesis, the problem that squirrels ruin durian, which is an economic important fruit in Thailand, is considered. We seek for a strategy on squirrel elimination under the consideration that squirrels are not alien species in Thailand and also orchard ecosystem. The problem is solved through a stochastic control model. The population dynamics of squirrels is constructed as a controlled stochastic differential equation with carrying capacity, since we consider the squirrel population in a confined orchard. A performance index indicating the total benefit of a given squirrel elimination strategy is provided. The index comprises the countermeasure cost, resources loss, …

Enhanced Triacylglycerol Production In Chlorella Vulgaris By Flux Balance Analysis On Metabolic Network, Issalapap Kaothong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Triacylglycerol (TAG) is a type of lipid that can be produced by a microalga called Chlorella vulgaris, which is a promising source of biodiesel. However, there is a lack of research and models explaining how to directly produce this lipid. To address this, we propose using linear minimization of metabolic adjustment (LMOMA), which predicts gene manipulation effects based on Flux Balance Analysis (FBA), to enhance TAG production. We conducted single-gene deletion experiments on the genome-scale metabolic model of C. vulgaris UTEX 395 (iCZ843) under different growth conditions: heterotrophy, photoautotrophy, and mixotrophy conditions. We found that the TAG production increased by …

Comparative Analysis Of Mutational Landscapes Identified From Exome Sequencing Of Tumor Tissues And Circulating Tumor Dna, Julanee Leenanitikul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Next-generation sequencing of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has been used as a noninvasive alternative for cancer diagnosis and characterization of tumor mutational landscape. However, low ctDNA fraction and other factors can limit the ability of ctDNA analysis to capture tumor-specific and actionable variants. In this study, whole-exome sequencings (WES) were performed on paired ctDNA and tumor biopsy in 15 cancer patients to assess the extent of concordance between mutational profiles derived from the two source materials. We found that up to 16.4% ctDNA fraction can still be insufficient for detecting tumor-specific variants and that high concordance with tumor biopsy is …

The infectious disease caused by the novel coronavirus 2019 has devastatingly affected the global economy and society. However, the drug discovery process from concept to approval requires a significant investment of time and resources. To address these challenges, we employed structure-based virtual screening techniques, including drug-likeness screening, pharmacophore-based virtual screening, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, and fragment molecular orbital calculation. The protein target of this investigation was the main protease or 3-chymotrypsin-like-protease (3CLpro) of the coronavirus, given its pivotal role in the viral replication process. Using our in-house database of natural products and their derivatives, we aimed to identify potent …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Brassinosteroid (BR) plays a complex role in root growth and development by regulating the expression of downstream target genes through the BR signaling pathway. In this scRNA-seq study of Arabidopsis roots, tissue- and developmental-specific roles of BR were identified. Atrichoblast, an epidermal cell that develops into a non-hair cell, displayed the highest enrichment of BR-induced genes in the elongation and maturation zones among all cell types. Trajectory analysis revealed distinct expression patterns of BR biosynthesis and signaling genes between atrichoblasts and trichoblasts. Atrichoblasts exhibited higher expression levels of BR biosynthesis genes (DET2 and ROT3) and BR signaling genes (BRI1 and …

The T Cell Senescence In Breast Cancer, Sikrit Denariyakoon
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Background: The cancer-immune cell crosstalk is a common immune-evasion mechanism of cancer. This crosstalk can result in epigenetic changes in immune phenotypes to accelerate tumor growth and metastasis. Senescent T lymphocytes are formed during T cell differentiation, and are recently described as one of the dysfunctional T cells in cancer. In breast cancer, estrogen does not only regulate normal physiology in females, but is also involved in cancer development and cancer treatment. It may also attenuate senescent phenotypes, and increase DNA damage in several cell-lines. This thesis therefore examined for the presence of senescent T lymphocytes in breast cancer patients, …

Real-Time Object Detection For Screening Cannabis Seed Gender, Prachya Boonsri
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Perception and understanding of cannabis are more expansive than they formerly were. Almost all growers are primarily interested in getting harvests of big flower buds from cannabis female plants since THC, CBD and other cannabinoids are found in female flowers and valuable for medical and industrial market segments. Selecting only female seeds to cultivate is thus an important step to produce THC, CBD profitably. Unfortunately, outdoor cultivation in Thailand traditionally grows regular cannabis seeds that grow up of mixed male and female plants. The male plants will be later spot and eliminated during the pre-flowering stage. This incurs the higher …
