Invasions Of Dicamba Particles: Holding States Accountable For Taking Offsite Property Owners' Right To Exclude, Terence J. Centner
Invasions Of Dicamba Particles: Holding States Accountable For Taking Offsite Property Owners' Right To Exclude, Terence J. Centner
University of Cincinnati Law Review
In 2017, special formulations of dicamba herbicides known as over-the-top products were marketed for post-emergent use on genetically engineered soybeans and cotton. The use of these products was accompanied by considerable herbicide drift and volatilization that harmed millions of acres of nearby crops. In 2018, the EPA added requirements to the products’ labels to preclude offsite injuries. However, for each growing season during 2018-2021, unacceptable offsite injuries were reported in the major soybean and cotton producing states. Because they received reported injuries, state agencies issuing new registrations for dicamba products in 2018 and 2020 knew offsite spray drift and volatilization …

Introduction To Entrepreneurship Course For Adult Esol Students - Course Development And Materials -, Susana Gobitas
MA TESOL Collection
Within the current context of Adult ESOL education, a growing demographic of language learners with prior business knowledge and experience would like to start their own businesses. Most programs are focused on preparing students for an academic or vocational track in college with little attention given to potential entrepreneurs. This course was created out of an increasing need to prepare and support ESOL students who would like to take entrepreneurship boot camps and courses offered at the college level but lack confidence in their English skills. It provides students with general entrepreneurship vocabulary and gets them familiarized with business practices …
The Affordable Care Act: Moral Hazard, Adverse Selection, Challenges, Alternative Proposals, And Amendments In Health Insurance Law, Paige Ross
Nebraska Law Bulletin (Selected Issues)
A major issue to address with health insurance in any context, including the ACA, is that of moral hazard. Moral hazard refers to the tendency of any insured party to exercise less care to avoid an insured loss than would be exercised if the loss were not insured. It can result from the policyholders having better information about their actual care levels after coverage is purchased. Additionally, moral hazard requires that the insurer cannot perfectly monitor the policyholder’s level of care after the purchase of insurance. Moral hazard is more likely to occur if a behavior does not involve a …
Ensuring A Knowledgeable Geriatric Workforce: Interdisciplinary Education In Long-Term Services And Supports, Gina Tucker-Roghi
Ensuring A Knowledgeable Geriatric Workforce: Interdisciplinary Education In Long-Term Services And Supports, Gina Tucker-Roghi
Occupational Therapy | Faculty Scholarship
In this symposium, we describe five interdisciplinary educational programs to enhance the geriatric workforce in long-term services and supports (LTSS): Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), assisted living, and home health and hospice. The interdisciplinary teams that came together to offer the programs leveraged technology to maximize access to experts in both the curriculum development process and the delivery of the educational programs for a wide range of target learners. The first program, an interdisciplinary telementoring series on dementia care for therapists in SNFs, was developed by a team of experts from occupational, physical and speech therapy. The program included asynchronous online …

Data was compiled by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). The information was updated twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.
Syndromic Surveillance System data is obtained from approximately 216 facilities participating in syndromic surveillance (139 Emergency Departments (ED), 77 Urgent Cares) across the State of Michigan. The reporting is based on individuals who present at EDs and may not be representative of the overall population. The coronavirus-like symptoms query searches visit free-text (chief complaint, triage notes, …

Large-Scale Crispri And Transcriptomics Of Staphylococcus Epidermidis Identify Genetic Factors Implicated In Lifestyle Versatility., Michelle Spoto, Johanna P. Riera Puma, Elizabeth Fleming, Changhui Guan, Yvette Ondouah Nzutchi, Dean Kim, Julia Oh
Faculty Research 2022
Staphylococcus epidermidis is a ubiquitous human commensal skin bacterium that is also one of the most prevalent nosocomial pathogens. The genetic factors underlying this remarkable lifestyle plasticity are incompletely understood, mainly due to the difficulties of genetic manipulation, precluding high-throughput functional profiling of this species. To probe the versatility of S. epidermidis to survive across a diversity of environmental conditions, we developed a large-scale CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) screen complemented by transcriptional profiling (RNA sequencing) across 24 diverse conditions and piloted a droplet-based CRISPRi approach to enhance throughput and sensitivity. We identified putative essential genes, importantly revealing amino acid metabolism as …

Examining The Influence Of Information Technology On Health Behaviors And Health Outcomes, Mohammad Moinul Islam Murad
Information Systems & Operations Management Dissertations - Archive
Information Technology (IT) has radically changed our daily lives and it has the potential to help us adopt healthy behaviors and improve health outcomes. This two-part study investigates the influence of IT on health behaviors in population health management. Crises lead to severe uncertainty, high-risk perceptions, and vulnerability among people. Crisis communication through social media platforms influences people to undertake recommended behaviors that mitigate crisis consequences. Political leaders utilize Twitter to deliver crisis messages that offer mental support and empower local communities to spawn resilience and adaptability with emergent collective behaviors necessary to respond to the crisis. The primary objective …

Assessment Practices And Experiences Of Sex Trafficking In Caseloads Of Service Providers Working With High Risk Youth In Indiana, Lisa S. Elwood, Samantha Goodin, Christine Naydenov, Nicole Baldonado, Tamara Weaver, Abigail Kuzma
Midwest Social Sciences Journal
With increased recognition of sex trafficking, calls have been made for greater identification and screening. Lack of awareness and assessment likely contribute to low identification of sex trafficking victims. The present study examined assessment practices, confidence in detecting trafficking, and experiences with DMST survivors in the caseloads of service providers in the past year. Employees at high-risk settings were recruited, resulting in a sample of 76 providers representing 21 agencies. Data revealed that while general risk factors were typically assessed, sex trafficking-specific risk factors and experiences were assessed less often. Approximately 30% of participants indicated they worked with at least …

The Taxonomic Report of the International Lepidoptera Survey
Subsequent to the significant accomplishment of biological control of Opuntia weeds in Australia, the larvae of the cactus moth, Cactoblastis cactorum (native to parts of South America), were released in many countries for the biological control of native Opuntia species (Simmonds and Bennett, 1966). Inauspiciously, larvae were also released in the Caribbean, where the moth spread naturally and by the human support all over the region (García-Turudi et al., 1971). Its enhanced dissemination rate and the biological potential for invasiveness, suggests that the cactus moth is likely to become an invasive pest of Opuntia in the Southeast United States, Mexico, …
