Village libraries do have a major contribution in improving the quality of village communities, both through the collections provided and through the empowerment programs held. However, many village libraries that are in suspended animation are not managed properly by the village government. This resulted in the village community being unable to utilize the services of the village library. The purpose of this study is to identify the village library revitalization process so that the village library can carry out library operational activities. The research method used is a qualitative approach. The revitalization process was carried out at the Moyoketen Village …

In this article, we report on a phenomenological study that explored the use of mobile social media by 21 undergraduate students registered at the Federal University of Lafia, Nigeria, to support their academic-related information needs and activities. Furthermore, in the study, we attempted to acquire an understanding of why these students seem to prefer using their mobile devices and the ways in which their use of mobile devices affect their academic-related information seeking. Following an explanation of what social media entails, the discussion focused on the ways in which information-behaviour elements such as context, the user’s inner person and information …

Evaluating Preschool Librarians’ Information And Communication Technology Competency Level For Online Teaching, Christian S. Ugwuanyi Ph.D, Chinedu I.O. Okeke Prof
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
For adequate teaching and learning, twenty-first-century classrooms, combined with the needs of the new normal in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, have mandated the effective use of online education platforms. This begs the question of how well-versed in information and communication technologies Nigerian Preschool Librarians are (ICT). Because there is a scarcity of studies on the subject, this is the case. As a result, the researchers were in a good position to determine or measure the level of ICT expertise of Preschool Librarians in order to embrace online education during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The descriptive survey research …
“Give Me A Path To Follow”: A Deweyan Inquiry Into Training Volunteer Eal Tutors Of Adult Refugees, Maria Enriquez Watt
“Give Me A Path To Follow”: A Deweyan Inquiry Into Training Volunteer Eal Tutors Of Adult Refugees, Maria Enriquez Watt
Theses: Doctorates and Masters
Volunteer English as an additional language (EAL) tutors working through adult community education (ACE) organisations play a key role in the development of adult refugee literacy and language skills in Australia. There are few requirements to work as an EAL volunteer tutor (VT), other than fluency in English. Yet refugee learners are known to have complex learning problems potentially resulting from their pre-migratory experiences. However, as the ACE sector is unregulated, provision for training VTs is uncoordinated, with many VTs receiving little or no training. Available training has largely been found to be ineffective and to support ideologies that potentially …

A Privacy Preserving Online Learning Framework For Medical Diagnosis Applications, Trang Pham Ngoc Nguyen
Theses: Doctorates and Masters
Electronic Health records are an important part of a digital healthcare system. Due to their significance, electronic health records have become a major target for hackers, and hospitals/clinics prefer to keep the records at local sites protected by adequate security measures. This introduces challenges in sharing health records. Sharing health records however, is critical in building an accurate online diagnosis framework. Most local sites have small data sets, and machine learning models developed locally based on small data sets, do not have knowledge about other data sets and learning models used at other sites.
The work in this thesis utilizes …

This thesis highlights the impact of engaging in this role on the practice of drama educators. Using an autoethnographic approach, data were collected from five individuals through semi-structured interviews. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (Smith, 2004) highlighted that the participants' experiences acted as critical moments that led to positive personal and professional outcomes. Three key supporting factors for positive outcomes were identified: 1) critically reflective practice; 2) knowledge and experience …

Australia is home to one of the oldest continuous living cultures in the world. Now, more so than ever before, government and educational bodies are recognising the importance of integrating Indigenous cultures in education as a means of promoting intercultural understanding and improving educational outcomes for Indigenous students. The Australian Curriculum has advocated that Indigenous histories and cultures be embedded into every subject rather than taught separately. Drama is a curriculum area that provides many opportunities to integrate learning about Indigenous perspectives by exploring historically and culturally rich Indigenous theatre texts. Research is showing that non-Indigenous teachers are avoiding this …
