Oxygen Vacancies On Pd/Tio2 Are Detected At Low Pressures By Esr Spectroscopy At Ambient Temperatures, Deni̇z Üner, Meli̇s Yarar
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
A low field benchtop electron spin resonance (ESR) (also referred to as electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR)) spectrometer is used to reveal paramagnetic centres such as oxygen vacancies and Ti+3 centres over 0.5%Pd/TiO2. The measurement was performed at room temperature after the sample was reduced in situ under mild hydrogen pressures and evacuated to P < 10-6 Torr. The measurement was possible due to a T1 compensation effect under vacuum: Correlation times at low pressures enabled sufficient line narrowing and detection of the ESR signal, justifying a method using benchtop spectrometers coupled to vacuum manifolds. The method justification was demonstrated using similar measurements performed on a reference compound, Mn(II) in plasticine: a measurement performed by saturation recovery technique revealed that T1 of the signal due to Mn(II) was smaller in vacuum than its atmosphere exposed counterpart. By applying vacuum, the ESR spectra of 0.5%Pd/TiO2 were collected at ambient temperatures, with features equivalent to the published data obtained at cryogenic temperatures.

Simulation Of Two Electrode Reactions Coupled By The Chemical Reaction, Milivoj Lovric
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
A model of an ECE mechanism consisting of two reversible electrode reactions coupled by the kinetically controlled, second order, reversible chemical reaction is developed for the staircase cyclic voltammetry on the rotating disk electrode. The relationship between the limiting current of the second wave and the rate constant of chemical reaction is investigated. The concentration of electroinactive component of the forward reaction influences the half-wave potential of the first wave and the limiting current of the second wave. The responses of the mechanisms with reversible and irreversible chemical reactions are compared.

Turkish Journal of Chemistry
In continuation of our interest in identifying new α-glucosidase inhibitors with potential to become antidiabetic drugs, this work focuses on the study of 4-(dimethylaminoalkyl)piperazine-1-carbodithioate derivatives as α-glucosidase inhibitors. The eight heterocyclic piperazine-dithiocarbamate complexes studied in this work contain a variety of substitutions on their benzene ring exhibiting potent, noncompetitive inhibition of α-glucosidase. Dithiocarbamate and piperazine moieties are important pharmacophores with promising therapeutic prospects featuring facilitated drug delivery due to their lipophilic nature in addition to their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. Enzyme kinetics, molecular dynamics simulations, and docking studies revealed that the target compounds bind to a new allosteric site that is …

In the present study, Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized from Salvia officinalis and Thymus vulgaris, known as phytotherapy plants. The obtained silver nanoparticles were characterized using SEM, XRD, FTIR, and UV/Vis spectra. The antioxidant capacities of Salvia officinalis-mediated AgNP (SO-AgNP) and Thymus vulgaris-mediated AgNP (TV-AgNP) were analyzed in vitro using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and iron chelating activity assays. DPPH activities were 83.74% and 57.17% for SO-AgNP and TV-AgNP at concentration 200 mg/L, respectively. Both green synthesized AgNPs exhibited good iron chelating activity. In addition, the DNA cleavage activities of SO-AgNPs and TV-AgNP were investigated with agarose gel electrophoresis technique. …

The novel pyridine bearing schiff base substituted metal-free (9), zinc(II) phthalocyanine (10), and its quaternized derivative (11) were designed and synthesized. These phthalocyanines were fully characterized by spectroscopic methods (FT-IR, UV-Vis, MALDI-TOF, and 1H NMR). The photo-physicochemical properties of these phthalocyanines were investigated in both DMSO and DMF for 10 and in both DMSO and aqueous solution for 11. The addition of pyridine bearing Schiff base groups as peripheral ligands showed an improvement in the photophysical and photochemical properties. In addition, a spectroscopic investigation of the binding behavior of the water-soluble zinc (II) phthalocyanine …

The synthesis of natural products 2-(2,3-dibromo-4,5-dihydroxyphenyl)acetic acid (1) and 2-(2,6-dibromo-3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)acetic acid (2) and as well as their derivatives 25 and 26 were carried out by substitution, hydrolysis and demethylation reactions of the corresponding four benzyl bromides. The antioxidant potentials of benzylic acid-derived bromophenols were, for the first time, appraised by several outstanding bioanalytical methods. Besides these, we estimated the antioxidant effects which were studied using the methods of DPPH·, ABTS·+ scavenging activities, ferric (Fe3+) and cupric (Cu2+) ions and Fe3+-TPTZ reducing capacities. Benzylic acid-derived bromophenols were found as effective DPPH·, and …
