San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative
The Equity-First Approach to Climate Adaptation guidance document (Equity Guidance; document) serves as a general framework for local agency planners and transportation planning professionals. The Equity Guidance’s overall goal is to provide best practices for designing, planning, and implementing a climate adaptation process that supports equitable outcomes. This document identifies trends, assumptions, emerging practices, indicators, metrics, and implementation opportunities, that support and operationalize an equitable climate adaptation planning process.

Democratization, Elite Capture And Economic Development, Andrew D. Foster, Mark R. Rosenzweig
Discussion Papers
We show using a theoretical framework that embeds a voting model in a general-equilibrium model of a rural economy with two interest groups defined by land ownership that the effects of democratization - a shift from control of public resources by the landed elite to a democratic regime with universal suffrage - on the portfolio of public goods is heterogeneous, depending the population landless. In accord with the model and empirical findings from micro data on the differing material interests of the two land classes, we find, based on 30-year panel data describing the democratization of Indian villages, that democratization …
Parental Presence At The Bedside Of Critically Ill Children In The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Scoping Review, Lauren Miller, Monique Richard, Kristina Krmpotic, Anne Kennedy, Jamie Seabrook, Corey Slumkoski, Martha Walls, Jennifer Foster
Parental Presence At The Bedside Of Critically Ill Children In The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Scoping Review, Lauren Miller, Monique Richard, Kristina Krmpotic, Anne Kennedy, Jamie Seabrook, Corey Slumkoski, Martha Walls, Jennifer Foster
Paediatrics Publications
Parental presence at the bedside (PPB) of critically ill children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is necessary for operationalizing family-centred care. Previous evidence syntheses emphasize parent-healthcare provider interactions at rounds and resuscitation; our focus is the parent–child dyad. Prior to embarking on further study, we performed a scoping review to determine the breadth and scope of the literature addressing PPB of critically ill children in the PICU. We searched five online databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and PSYCHINFO) and the grey literature to identify English and French reports from January 1960 to June 2020 addressing physical parental …
Bridging The Career Transitional Gap Between Field Experts And University Instructors: Factors Affecting New Faculty Members’ Feelings Of Preparedness Of Teaching In Higher Education, Amy Hogan
Doctoral Dissertations
This quantitative study determined factors affecting preparedness for higher education teachers who have transitioned from their expert-level fieldwork into academia. It is a common practice for new university faculty members to be recruited from their areas of expertise as clinicians and practitioners (Eret et al., 2018; Freeman & DiRamio, 2016; Savage & Pollard, 2016). Transitioning from a chosen field into a novice teacher can carry varying weights depending on university teaching appointments. Having the qualities of an experienced practitioner is highly desired to fill faculty roles, but the expertise as a practitioner does not necessarily develop the teaching skills (Eret …

Master of Theater Production Graduate Projects
The script "The Diary of Anne Frank," by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, and its historical background were studied and researched. After analyzing the play and its given circumstances, a design concept was developed, goals were set, and then the play was directed and produced in a high school setting. The project notebook contains the documented dramaturgy, a written concept statement, the visual plans and materials, the production notes and journal, and production evaluations. The project goal was to implement the aspects of theatre production learned during the course of study, and to educate high school theatre students. The results …

The Nexus Of Gut Microbiota, Diet, And Health, Sajal Bhattarai, Srinivas Janaswamy
Dairy Science and Food Science Faculty Publications: 2022 to Present
The gut microbiome incorporates the ecological niche specific to the totality of the microorganisms in the human gut. Unique to every individual, the blueprint of the microbiome sets up at birth and functions as a human organ and plays a significant role in digestion, detoxification, fighting pathogens, modulating the immune system, and improving health. The gut microbiota and associated health implications are influenced by factors such as birth and age, diseases, use of antibiotics and food components (e.g., complex carbohydrates and dietary fibers, plant proteins, unsaturated fatty acids, and functional compounds of natural origin such as flavones, flavonoids, polyphenols, and …
Perceived Leadership Communication, Modalities Of Communication, And Perceived Organizational Support, Allison Anne Maas
Perceived Leadership Communication, Modalities Of Communication, And Perceived Organizational Support, Allison Anne Maas
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Organizations are constantly evaluating methods and looking for new ways to improve retention. Perceived Organizational Support (POS) is used as a predictor of intent to stay; therefore, it is important to know what behaviors lead to greater POS. Understanding this will enable organizations to coach their leaders on styles that are most effective so they can make the best use of their time. This study focused specifically on supervisor-employee engagements, evaluating the correlation between perceived leadership communication and POS, and the significance of modality. The study concluded that perceived leadership communication was positively correlated with POS. Of the five communication …

Utilization Of Digital Information Resources By Undergraduates At Lead City University, Ibadan Nigeria, Taofeek Abiodun Oladokun, Azeez A. Adeoye
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The innate need for growth and the growing popularity of digital information resources have prompted many academic libraries, including Lead City University to invest on the provision of digital information resources. However, studies have shown that provision of digital information resources does not automatically guarantee utilization. This study therefore investigates the utilization of digital information resources among undergraduate students at Lead City University, Ibadan Nigeria. The study adopted a quantitative research method with a questionnaire used as research instrument. The study sample consists of 342 undergraduate students and the data collected was analysed with aid of the Statistical Package for …

The five primary sites proposed for International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 395, which was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, were cored during IODP Expedition 395C. The Expedition 395C operations, shipboard measurements, and sampling were adjusted to account for the absence of a sailing science party. The Expedition 395/395C objectives are (1) to investigate temporal variations in ocean crust generation at the Reykjanes Ridge and test hypotheses for the influence of Iceland mantle plume fluctuations on these processes, (2) to analyze sedimentation rates at the Björn and Gardar contourite drifts, as proxies for Cenozoic variations of North Atlantic deepwater …

Lifting Labor’S Voice: A Principled Path Toward Greater Worker Voice And Power Within American Corporate Governance, Leo E. Strine Jr., Aneil Kovvali, Oluwatomi O. Williams
Minnesota Law Review Vols. 106:2 onward (2021-present)
In view of the decline in gainsharing by corporations with American workers over the last forty years, advocates for American workers have expressed growing interest in allowing workers to elect representatives to corporate boards. Board level representation rights have gained appeal because they are a highly visible part of codetermination regimes that operate in several successful European economies, including Germany’s, in which workers have fared better. But board level representation is just one part of the comprehensive codetermination regulatory strategy as it is practiced abroad. Without a coherent supporting framework that includes representation from the ground up, as is provided …
