Small Group Participant Perceptions Of Discipleship Development In Multisite Churches: A Mixed Methods Study, Risha D. Bailey
Small Group Participant Perceptions Of Discipleship Development In Multisite Churches: A Mixed Methods Study, Risha D. Bailey
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Researchers indicated a clear and steady decline in discipleship development within the Body of Christ (Baldwin, 2016; Lynn, 2014; Saunders, 2009). However, the vision for the church, outlined within the Great Commission, remains the same; it warrants the conversion, production, and reproduction of Christ’s disciples in all nations. The small group ministry and multisite churches are at the intersection of discipleship development, leading to effective disciple making. While small groups have been endorsed by many as the premier vehicle that helps the church fulfill its mission, multisite churches are heralded as those experiencing rapid growth with strong communities of faith …

How To Teach Machines In Artificial Intelligence? Technical Education In John Dewey, Gilbert Simondon And Machine Learning, Olivier Del Fabbro
How To Teach Machines In Artificial Intelligence? Technical Education In John Dewey, Gilbert Simondon And Machine Learning, Olivier Del Fabbro
Education and Culture
A society that uses drills and conditioning to train its machine learning models risks creating an alienated situation between human and machine in social life, as these teaching methods generate a lack of responsibility for the actions produced by such machines. Both John Dewey and Gilbert Simondon present conceptions and ideas that shed a different light on such alienated human– machine relationships in machine learning: that is, a critique of mere drilling and training as an educational method; the mode of existence of technical objects; and the importance of experience and practicality, for example, learning by doing. After giving an …
Unilateral And Multilateral Deep-Sea Mineral Mining Regulations: Why An Effective Enforcement Mechanism Is Needed In Order To Promote Responsible Mining Practices In The Future, Alexander W. Read
Ocean and Coastal Law Journal
This paper focuses on enforcement issues with regard to deep-sea mineral mining in terms of unilateral and multilateral structures. It begins by exploring early forays into mineral mining, namely in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the necessity of the extractives industries generally. Next, this comment analyzes unilateral policy regimes, specifically through the lens of United States courts and through differing mining regulatory regimes between countries, and how unilateral regulatory change is likely an ineffective mechanism for enforcing standards for the industry. Finally, this comment looks at international structures that currently govern deep-sea mineral mining and how multilateral regulatory …

Spatio-Temporal Models Of Infectious Disease With High Rates Of Asymptomatic Transmission, Aminur Rahman, Angela Peace, Ramesh Kesawan, Souparno Ghosh
Department of Statistics: Faculty Publications
The surprisingly mercurial Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to not only accelerate research on infectious disease, but to also study them using novel techniques and perspectives. A major contributor to the dificulty of containing the current pandemic is due to the highly asymptomatic nature of the disease. In this investigation, we develop a modeling framework to study the spatio-temporal evolution of diseases with high rates of asymptomatic transmission, and we apply this framework to a hypothetical country with mathematically tractable geography; namely, square counties uniformly organized into a rectangle. We first derive a model for the temporal dynamics of …
Climate Change Around The World, Per Krusell, Anthony A. Smith Jr.
Climate Change Around The World, Per Krusell, Anthony A. Smith Jr.
Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers
The economic effects of climate change vary across both time and space. To study these effects, this paper builds a global economy-climate model featuring a high degree of geographic resolution. Carbon emissions from the use of energy in production increase the Earth's (average) temperature and local, or regional, temperatures respond more or less sensitively to this increase. Each of the approximately 19,000 regions makes optimal consumption-savings and energy-use decisions as its climate (or regional temperature) and, consequently, its productivity change over time. The relationship between regional temperature and regional productivity has an inverted U-shape, calibrated so that the high-resolution model …
