The Mineral Composition Of Date Palm Fruits (Phoenix Dactylifera L.) Under Low To High Salinity Irrigation, Rania Dghaim, Zied Hammami, Rola Al Ghali, Linda Smail, Dalia Haroun Dec 2021

The Mineral Composition Of Date Palm Fruits (Phoenix Dactylifera L.) Under Low To High Salinity Irrigation, Rania Dghaim, Zied Hammami, Rola Al Ghali, Linda Smail, Dalia Haroun

All Works

Adaptability to salinity varies between different varieties of date palm trees. This research aims to explore the long-term impact of different salinity irrigation levels on the mineral content of 13 date palm varieties grown in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Date varieties were grown using three irrigation water salinity levels of 5, 10 and 15 dS m-1. The mineral composition (B, Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Na, P and Zn) of date palm fruits was determined using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). High salinity levels showed no effect on the mineral content of Ajwat AlMadinah, Naghal, Barhi, Shagri, Abu …

Bibliometric Analysis Of Open Access Digital Humanities Publications, Deep Kumar Kirtania

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The main purpose of this paper is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the open access digital humanities scholarly literatures during 2001 to 2020. This paper examines the distribution of year wise growth, authorship pattern, identifies the most productive authors, countries, publication source and institutions and most trusted research areas. The bibliographic data required for this present study has been collected through the Lens database and analyzed on the basis of various indicators of bibliometrics assessment. The study found that digital humanities research on open access platforms is growing rapidly. The study showed that that the developed countries such as …

Covid-19'S Impact On Communication Practices In The Animal Welfare Nonprofit Sector, Tiffany M. Davis Dec 2021

Covid-19'S Impact On Communication Practices In The Animal Welfare Nonprofit Sector, Tiffany M. Davis

Master of Arts in Professional Writing Capstones

Historically, writing and communication practices have been vital components in the nonprofit sector. With the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, the writing and communication practices within the nonprofit sector have been forced to adapt and change for organizations to continue disseminating their missions and continuing fundraising. Specifically, animal welfare nonprofit organizations have had to shift their communication practices in the wake of the virus. This capstone aims to answer questions about the value of writing and communication practices, and also answer research questions about the effects of COVID-19 on the animal welfare nonprofit sector. Through secondary and primary research, in …

Exploring Personal Information Disclosure And Protective Behaviour Of Research Scholars’ When Seeking Information From The Web., Chanlang Ki Bareh

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The collection of personal information became the most prominent threat associated with information consumption from the web. Existing research has not explored the information disclosure and protective behaviour of PhD research scholars. This investigation aimed to address the following objectives: (1) To find the Information-Seeking Behaviours of research scholars (2) To explore the research scholars’ attitudes towards personal information disclosure (3) To explore the protective behaviours of research scholars’ towards personal information disclosure. The study aims to contribute to existing knowledge in information disclosure behaviour and protective behaviour. The empirical research consists of thirty (30) PhD research scholars from the …

Accurate Flux Calibration Of Gw170817: Is The X-Ray Counterpart On The Rise?, E. Troja, B. O'Connor, G. Ryan, L. Piro, R. Ricci, B. Zhang, T. Piran, G. Bruni, S. B. Cenko, H. Van Eerten

Physics & Astronomy Faculty Research

X-ray emission from the gravitational wave transient GW170817 is well described as non-thermal afterglow radiation produced by a structured relativistic jet viewed off-axis. We show that the X-ray counterpart continues to be detected at 3.3 years after the merger. Such long-lasting signal is not a prediction of the earlier jet models characterized by a narrow jet core and a viewing angle ≈20 deg, and is spurring a renewed interest in the origin of the X-ray emission. We present a comprehensive analysis of the X-ray dataset aimed at clarifying existing discrepancies in the literature, and in particular the presence of an …

Measures of information processing speed vary between individuals and decline with age. Studies of aging twins suggest heritability may be as high as 67%. The Illumina HumanExome Bead Chip genotyping array was used to examine the association of rare coding variants with performance on the Digit-Symbol Substitution Test (DSST) in community-dwelling adults participating in the Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE) Consortium. DSST scores were available for 30,576 individuals of European ancestry from nine cohorts and for 5758 individuals of African ancestry from four cohorts who were older than 45 years and free of dementia and …

Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) can be differentiated into epithelial organoids that recapitulate the relevant context for CFTR and enable testing of therapies targeting Cystic Fibrosis (CF)-causing mutant proteins. However, to date, CF-iPSC-derived organoids have only been used to study pharmacological modulation of mutant CFTR channel activity and not the activity of other disease-relevant membrane protein constituents. In the current work, we describe a high-throughput, fluorescence-based assay of CFTR channel activity in iPSC-derived intestinal organoids and describe how this method can be adapted to study other apical membrane proteins. Specifically, we show how this assay can be employed to study …

Empowerment Of Farmers: The Role Of Actor And The Persistence Of Coffee Farmers In Rural Pattongko, Indonesia, A. Hasdiansyah, Sugito Sugito, Yoyon Suryono Dec 2021

Empowerment Of Farmers: The Role Of Actor And The Persistence Of Coffee Farmers In Rural Pattongko, Indonesia, A. Hasdiansyah, Sugito Sugito, Yoyon Suryono

The Qualitative Report

Many farmers' empowerment has failed because the process is rigid, instructive, and uses too many techniques that are not following the local conditions of the community. Therefore, the empowerment process must be improved to be able to make farmers empowered and independent. For this reason, it is necessary to explore how the learning process and the involvement of actor in the empowerment process are needed. The subjects of this study consisted of eight farmers and one empowerment actor. The method used is qualitative through in-depth interviews, observation, and document review. All data were transcribed, organized, then analyzed to produce conclusions. …

Shodhshuddhi: An Initiative To Curb Plagiarism In Indian Academic Community, Dr. Rakesh Parmar, Kuldeep Matieda

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

India's higher education system has expanded dramatically, especially in the post-independence era and now has become the third largest system after USA and China. However, this system is disturbed by several problems, the most challenging of which is the need for the authorities to emphasize quality. Recognizing the importance of quality in higher education system and research the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has launched a programme called "ShodhShuddhi" that gives access to Plagiarism Detection Software to 1000+ Institutions. This paper investigates plagiarism and state-wise usage of the Shodhshushi project, which provides plagiarism detection software to institutions of higher …
