“Gaining Organisational Acceptance Of A Data Analytics Programme In Eli Lilly”, Anthony Maguire, Marcus O'Mahony

Level 3

This paper describes how Eli Lilly overcame barriers to enable new use of data. This was achieved by adopting a deep understanding of end-user needs and the support of site leaders and end-users to standardise process monitoring. A standard approach of ‘Contexting’, ‘Data-Extraction’, ‘Model build’, ‘On-line Config’, ‘Deploy’, was utilised, using a commercial off-the-shelf software. The paper describes proof of concept demonstrations undertaken and discusses the ingredients to make the journey a success.

Conexión Queer: Revista Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Teologías Queer

Inclusive churches propose to explore a path of revision and adaptation of queer faith in our Global South contexts. The way initiated is promising, and indeed the inclusive churches —together with queer theologians and their allies— are setting a course towards adapting Christianity to people's contexts instead of the traditional way of adapting contexts to Christian faith.

Una Pareja De «EspíRitus Rebeldes» E Indecentes: Una Lectura Queer De La Novela MediúMnica Caminhos Cruzados De Mauricio De Castro, Henry Isaac PeñA Grajales

Conexión Queer: Revista Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Teologías Queer

This article relates Marcella Althaus-Reid’s indecent theology to the novel Caminhos cruzados [crossed paths] by the spiritist medium Mauricio de Castro. In this novel, a homoaffective couple —Sergio and Fabricio— suffer homophobia from society, the implication of defamation, and are victims of prejudice of «sinfulness» and «immorality» because of their homoaffectivity in a committed and stable couple relationship. In analyzing the story of these two protagonists, indecent, «rebellious spirits,» and queer, I apply the Sexual Theology of Liberation method proposed by Althaus-Reid following the Latin American Theology of Liberation: see, judge, act.

Conexión Queer: Revista Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Teologías Queer

In September 2018, in Cordoba, Argentina, citizens witnessed the launching of a campaign in a public transport line with the inscription «#Con mis hijos no te metas.» It was enacted against the Comprehensive Sex Education Law (ESI) and sponsored by the Christian Church Cita con la Vida. This article analyzes the incidence of conservative evangelical churches in local politics based on this campaign in public. It concludes that in the religious field, conservative evangelical churches dispute the monopoly of the Roman Catholic Church —primarily political and social power— through the use of public space.

Post-Operative Vision Loss Following Cataract Surgery: Lessons Learned From An Eight-Year Analysis, Thanigasalam Thevi Dec 2021

Post-Operative Vision Loss Following Cataract Surgery: Lessons Learned From An Eight-Year Analysis, Thanigasalam Thevi

Manipal Journal of Medical Sciences

Background: Cataract is an ageing process and surgery is the only mode of restoring vision. Patients who undergo surgery have only one aim in mind, which is improvement in their visual acuity (VA). However, some patients do not achieve this aim for improved vision after having undergone the surgery. Reasons for worsening vision after cataract surgery should be identified to counsel the patients on the possibility of poorer outcomes so that patients are prepared for such eventualities should they happen. Objective: While cataract surgery restores vision in most, a subset of patients experience worsening vision post-operatively. We investigated various reasons …

Effect Of Biofertilizer In Organic And Conventional Systems On Growth, Yield And Baking Quality Of Hard Red Winter Wheat, Ammar Al-Zubade, Timothy D. Phillips, Mark A. Williams, Krista L. Jacobsen, David Van Sanford

Horticulture Faculty Publications

A two-year study (harvest years 2019 and 2020) was conducted to investigate the effect of a commercially available biofertilizer, in combination with variable nitrogen (N) rate, on bread baking quality and agronomic traits in hard winter wheat grown in conventional (CONV) and organic (ORG) farming systems in Kentucky, USA. The hard red winter wheat cultivar ‘Vision 45’ was used with three N rates (44, 89.6 and 134.5 kg/ha as Low, Med and High, respectively) and three biofertilizer spray regimes (no spray, one spray and two sprays). All traits measured were significantly affected by the agricultural production system (CONV or ORG) …

Characterization And Proteolytic Maturation Of Head Proteins In A Giant Salmonella Virus, Aaron Scheuch Dec 2021

Characterization And Proteolytic Maturation Of Head Proteins In A Giant Salmonella Virus, Aaron Scheuch

Theses

Giant phages are of interest for biocontrol of pathogenic bacteria, however, there is limited knowledge about their biology. We study the Salmonella phage SPN3US to better understand virion structure and function. SPN3US has a contractile tail and a large T=27 icosahedral capsid that contains its 240-kb genome. Previous analyses showed the SPN3US virion is highly unusual because it contains >80 different proteins, a number that is highly unusual for a tailed phage. In addition, there is a mass (>40 MDa) of proteins ("ejection proteins") within the head that enter the Salmonella cell, possibly with roles in host takeover at …

The Artemis Project: Exploring Mass Communication Utilizing A Visual Exploration Of Influential Imagery., Brooke K. Collins Dec 2021

The Artemis Project: Exploring Mass Communication Utilizing A Visual Exploration Of Influential Imagery., Brooke K. Collins

Theses

Society struggles to have difficult conversations. Polite silence is often preferred to dredging up uncomfortable topics. This silence is deafening as the majority of Americans do not consider topics such as The American Sex Trafficking Crisis. In a post-pandemic world, how do we initiate difficult conversations in both digital forums and public domains? The Artemis Project seeks to visually explore this gap in conversation, undergoing an optical investigation of utilizing design and illustrative practices as tools for mass communication. This project conceptualizes the development and application of imagery to introduce a conversation, facilitating understanding and empathy. In short, The Artemis …

The Experience Of Being Aware Of Disease Status In Women With Recurrent Ovarian Cancer: A Phenomenological Study, Catherine Scott Finlayson

Dissertations

In the United States, each year about 22,440 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, the deadliest gynecological cancer - with an estimated 14,080 deaths each year. Patients with recurrent ovarian cancer have more options today due to advances in treatments, and specifically, with the advent of immunotherapies. Many have to make many treatment decisions throughout the disease trajectory and awareness of disease status is one of the factors of the treatment decision making process in the ovarian cancer population. To date the literature has generally conceptualized and operationalized awareness of disease status in cancer patients from the health care provider's …

Interrogating The Light Bugs, Ana C. Villagomez

Theses and Dissertations

My paintings engage with ideas of time, memory and displacement. Intricately painted works appear to cover other layers of information hidden underneath through the act of rubbing, masking and erasing with unconventional tools such as scour pads, toilet brushes and rags, creating a surface that resembles a complex topographical map. But unlike a traditional cartographer, I seek to map my inner world.

History Is The Devil's Doing, Christopher W. Berntsen Dec 2021

History Is The Devil's Doing, Christopher W. Berntsen

Theses and Dissertations

My work engages with the idea of queer time and place. The waterfront, especially that in New York City is a space where these ideas have felt most potent. I utilize photography, particularly various methods of collage that combine images made from a sixty year range engaging with the queer waterfront. This work visualizes the waterfront as a space in which time exists beyond a static linear understanding of it. I look back in order to look forward, forward in order to look back. Or am I looking both ways at once?

We Miss Each Other, As In We Are Missing Each Other, Lily L. Randall Dec 2021

We Miss Each Other, As In We Are Missing Each Other, Lily L. Randall

Theses and Dissertations

I am interested in the way metaphors efface the terms of their comparison and what utility COVID-19 has when positioned within a metaphor. In Lacanian psychoanalysis, metaphors touch the subject, symbolized by the plus sign (+) or the crossing of the signifier into the signified. In the fall of 2019, I presented a performance in which three participants strategically shared saliva, nasal, ear, and vaginal swabs to therapeutically address my chronic illness. Currently in 2021, our conceptions of bodily sharing revolve around the extreme contagiousness of COVID-19. There is a demand to visualize this contagion as if “respiratory droplets” were …

Always Wednesday, Danielle Roberts

Theses and Dissertations

Danielle Roberts’ work explores personal narratives. The spaces she paints radiate, simultaneously dark and luminescent. Resembling the kind of archetypes of place used in film her cinematic compositions invite the viewer into the frame. Her figures capture feelings of alienation illuminated by the unnatural existential glow of constructed contemporary light.

Implementation Of An Opiate Use Disorder (Oud) Screening Tool To Reduce Opioid Abuse In A Pain Management Clinic, Brian D. Pervis

Dissertations

The long-term use of opioids to manage chronic pain in those with an opiate use disorder (OUD) is dangerous and poses a considerable risk of death. Pain management providers must have protocols and tools in place for OUD screening and referral. If OUD is not managed correctly, such as through provider education, screening, and referral, morbidity and mortality rates will severely affect society (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020). This quality improvement (QI) project's PICOT was among providers in a pain management treatment center, how will implementing an evidence-based OUD screening tool, compared to no screening tool, affect OUD …
