Production And Characterization Of Escherichia Coli Outer Membrane Vesicles Displaying Anti-Muc1 Single-Chain Variable Fragment Via Spytag/Spycatcher System, Sedthawut Laotee
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) secreted from Gram-negative bacteria have been discovered for a decade. Special features like high stability, ease of production, and intrinsic adjuvanticity highlight the use of OMVs in diverse applications such as vaccination, bioimaging, and multifunctional delivery systems. Synthetic biological approaches can functionalize OMVs to present heterologous proteins by expressing genetic fusion of target protein to outer membrane proteins. However, complex proteins cannot be incorporated into the OMVs due to lack of some post-translational modifications in bacteria. Herein, we demonstrated a convenient method for presentation of versatile proteins in OMVs with the implementation of the bio-ligation system …

Towards Explainable Sentiment Analysis For Written Reviews Via Quantum Tensor Network States, Chanatip Mangkang
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) have shown an incredible performance in supervised machine learning tasks such as Natural Language Processing (NLP). However, theoretical understanding of RNNs' performances in NLP are still limited due to intrinsically complex non-linear computations of RNNs. This thesis explores a class of RNNs called Recurrent Arithmetic Circuits (RACs), possessing a dual mathematical representation as a Matrix Product State (MPS) widely used in many-body quantum physics. The duality allows us to compute the entanglement entropy of an MPS, which can be used as a proxy for information propagation in the dual neural networks, to phenomenologically explain the RNNs-based …

Performance Of Memory Function Based On Naturalistic Data, Chanin Kumpeerakij
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Nonlinear dynamical systems, such as well-tuned recurrent neural networks, have proved a powerful tool for modeling temporal data. However, tuning such models to achieve the best performance remains an outstanding challenge, not least because of the complex behaviors that emerge from interacting microscopic constituents. Here, we consider a minimal model of two interacting phase oscillators coupled to a thermal bath and driven by a common signal. We quantify the memory and predictive capability of the system with the mutual information between the phases of oscillators and the signals at different times. We show that the interaction and heterogeneity between oscillators …

Stability And Electronic Structure Of Magnesium Hydride And Magnesium Deuteride Under High Pressure, Chayaphon Boonchot
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Metal polyhydrides have attracted interest because some of them transform into metals under high pressure, while others initiate a phase transition to become superconductors. It was recently discovered that some superconducting metal polyhydrides have a high critical temperature (Tc ) under pressure. We calculate the structures of MgH2 (FCC), MgH2 (HCP), and MgH3 under pressures ranging from 0-300 GPa in order to determine the formation enthalpy and electronic properties under high pressure. We also replaced the hydrogen atoms with deuterium (D). The convex hulls of MgH2 (FCC), MgH2 (HCP), and MgH3 (FCC) calculated at pressures from 0 to 300 GPa. …

Ab Initio Calculations On Superconducting Metal-Hydride And Perovskites For Energy Applications, Wiwittawin Sukmas
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Superconducting hydrides and photovoltaic perovskites for energy applications are studied by means of the density functional theory-based calculations. First of all, the new decoration of Mg0.5Ca0.5H6 is confirmed thermodynamically stable over the pressures ranging from 200 to 400 GPa. The electronic properties reveal the possibility for this very material of becoming a superconductor under pressures. As a result, by performing electron-phonon coupling (EPC) calculations, Mg0.5Ca0.5H6 is found to superconduct at a maximum critical temperature of 288 K at 200 GPa, which completely exceeds those of its parent compounds, i.e. MgH6 and CaH6. Secondly, the van de Waals (vdW) interaction is …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
High ambient temperature (HTa) is one important environmental factor that decreases food intake (FI). It is well accepted that high degree HTa induced heat stress decreased FI by the activation of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) via hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis. However, short-term low-degree HTa exposure has been demonstrated to decrease FI earlier than activated physiological and stress responses. This effect was related to the neuronal connection between the median preoptic nucleus (MnPO) and arcuate nucleus (Arc). Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of short-term low-degree HTa exposure on the activity of hypothalamic Arc in regarding to FI, and …
