To study the mechanism of enhanced gas drainage with large diameter double boreholes, numerical models of single holes with different diameters and double ø350 mm holes were established by using the RFPA^2D-Gas software in working face 30110 of Shiquan Coal Mine, Shanxi Province. Stress distribution, damage and fracture, gas permeability evolution and gas migration law of the coal around the hole were analyzed, and then the extraction effect of double ø350 mm holes was investigated. Niven’s theorem states that the sine, cosine, and tangent functions are rational for only a few rational multiples of π. Specifically, for angles θ that are rational multiples of π, the only rational values of sin(θ) and cos(θ) are 0, ±½, and ±1. For tangent, the only rational values are 0 and ±1. We present a proof of this fact, along with a generalization, using the structure of ideals in imaginary quadratic rings. It has been observed that there are no standard scales for measuring the job satisfaction of female library professionals. A scale would prove to be an excellent tool for developing policies for female library professionals. A questionnaire is prepared, which is further tested for reliability and validity, considered a standard scale. A survey method is used to collect the data for this purpose. The study suggests that job satisfaction variables are not unidirectional in their effect. The job itself can be a source of both satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) causes 35% of myocardial infarctions in women under the age of 50 years old. Typically, these are healthy, active women without risk factors for atherosclerotic coronary artery syndromes. SCAD is a myocardial infarction caused by a coronary arterial dissection and not atherosclerotic plaques. Because of this, those effected do not present with the typical risk factors associated with acute atherosclerotic coronary syndromes. Therefore, clinicians must maintain a high level of suspicion for SCAD in young, healthy, women presenting with chest pain. Observation and pharmacological therapies are the preferred methods of treatment for a SCAD event. …

Purpose. To explore outcomes of endolymphatic sac surgery for patients with Meniere’s disease with and without the comorbid condition of migraine. Materials and Methods. A retrospective chart review of adult patients undergoing endolymphatic sac surgery at a single tertiary care center from 1987 to 2019 was performed. All adult patients who failed medical therapy and underwent primary endolymphatic sac surgery were included. The main outcome measures were vertigo control and functional level scale (FLS) score. Additionally, despite extensive writings, the relationship between duty and breach in negligence cases remains unclear. At the core of the problem lies the inadequacy of our understanding of breach, which, currently established through a number of independent constructs, lacks a fundamental conceptual base. This note analyzes Gore, et al., v. Lee, et al., a case challenging Tennessee's birth control policy which explicitly prohibits trans people born in Tennessee from correcting their gender marker to accurately reflect their gender identity. The note begins with a description of the issues the lawsuit hopes to address and continues with a description of the parties, history of anti-trans birth certificate jurisprudence, an analysis of lawyering strategies, and concludes with First Amendment strategies which may be used to fight state laws requiring trans citizens to complete gender confirming procedures in order to correct their birth certificate gender markers.

The first measurements of differential branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic B→Xuℓ+νℓ decays are performed using the full Belle data set of 711 fb-1 of integrated luminosity at the (4S) resonance and for ℓ=e, μ. With the availability of these measurements, new avenues for future shape-function model-independent determinations of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vub| can be pursued to gain new insights in the existing tension with respect to exclusive determinations. The differential branching fractions are reported as a function of the lepton energy, the four-momentum-transfer squared, light-cone momenta, the hadronic mass, and the hadronic mass squared. n Hernandez v. Mesa, the Supreme Court denied the petitioners the opportunity to seek a Bivens remedy for a constitutional violation by a federal official. The Court appears like it will soon remove Bivens remedies entirely. This article analyzes the case and argues that the Court correctly decided the issue. Current literature decries this decision as ignoring precedent but fails to analyze the framework for deciding Bivens cases fully. The article further adopts the stance of the concurrence to argue that Bivens remedies violate the separation of powers, have failed to achieve their stated purpose, and should be completely abolished. …

Disorderly conduct is usually a misdemeanor statute that criminalizes a broad range of behavior. Law professors have recently called for the abolition of such statutes, arguing that the police are surveilling African American neighborhoods “for signs of disorder” and using the statute “as a means of social control against people of color.”This Article investigates this claim of racist policing by examining a sample of disorderly conduct cases. The sample confirms that African Americans are indeed charged at a disproportionately high rate relative to their percentage of the population. The suite of derived human traits, including enlarged brains, elevated fertility rates, and long developmental periods and life spans, imposes extraordinarily high energetic costs relative to other great apes. How do human subsistence strategies accommodate our expanded energy budgets? We found that relative to other great apes, human hunter-gatherers and subsistence farmers spend more energy but less time on subsistence, acquire substantially more energy per hour, and achieve similar energy efficiencies. These findings revise our understanding of human energetic evolution by indicating that humans afford expanded energy budgets primarily by increasing rates of energy acquisition, not through energy-saving adaptations such …

Objective: This study examined the impact of a dichotomous versus scaled response format on prevalence rates of sexual violence perpetration and victimization, thus conceptually replicating Hamby et al., 2006 and extending those findings to the context of sexual violence.

Methods: Two samples were recruited from Amazon Mechanical Turk and were randomly assigned to either a dichotomous or scaled response format of the same questionnaire. Sample 1 was used to examine perpetration and received a perpetration specific version of the Post-Refusal Sexual Persistence Scale (PRSPS). This study aims to investigate how parental thermal environment affects maternal fitness measured as maternal investment and offspring performance. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is highly prevalent in adults. TBI-related functional brain alterations have been linked with common post-TBI neurobehavioral sequelae, with unknown neural substrates. This study examined the systems-level functional brain alterations in white matter (WM) and gray matter (GM) for visual sustained-attention processing, and their interactions and contributions to post-TBI attention deficits.
