Results Of Morphological Studies Of Various Forms Of Chronic Tonsillitis, Firdavs N. Nordjigitov, Jamolbek A. Djuraev
Central Asian Journal of Medicine
Traditionally, the diagnosis of chronic tonsillitis is based on the assessment of clinical signs. It should also be born in mind that the morphological examination of the tonsils is an invasive method and can only be used to confirm the diagnosis after tonsillectomy, and not as a routine examination of patients with chronic tonsillitis. Morphological changes in palatine tonsils during chronic tonsillitis are represented by the proliferation of connective tissue in the thickness of the lymphoid tissue, the presence of necrotic foci, damage to the walls of capillary vessels, and disturbances in the crypt epithelium. In the case of the …

All biological processes in plant or animal organisms, including in the human body, are carried out in solutions. Therefore, the progress of sciences such as biology, medicine, etc., is closely related to the development of the doctrine of solutions. When dissolved, various chemical interactions occur between the components and due to Van der Waals force, etc. One of the methods for determining the ion molecular interaction is the study of the partial molar volume of electrolytes.

Unlike microbes that infect the human body, cancer cells are descended from normal cells and are not easily recognizable as “foreign” by the immune system of the host. However, if the malignant cells can be specifically earmarked for attack by a synthetic “designator”, the powerful effector mechanisms of the immune response can be conscripted to treat cancer. To implement this strategy, we have been developing aptamer-derived molecular adaptors to invoke synthetic immune responses against cancer cells. Here we describe multi-valent aptamers that simultaneously bind target molecules on the surface of cancer cells and an activated complement protein, which would tag …
Equality And Closure: The Paradox Of Local Citizenship, Kenneth A. Stahl
Equality And Closure: The Paradox Of Local Citizenship, Kenneth A. Stahl
Texas A&M Journal of Property Law
In Bourgeois Utopias, a cultural history of suburbia in America, Robert Fishman states the fundamental paradox about the suburbs: “[H]ow can a form based on the principle of exclusion include every-one?” The promise of the American suburb was that every middle-class family would be able to own a home with a yard, but this egalitarian ideal was illusory because what made the suburbs appealing was precisely what it excluded, namely everything having to do with the city—its congestion, political corruption, and most importantly, its racial diversity. And so, as suburbia was mass-produced and made avail-able with cheap low-interest loans …

An Analysis Of The Thai Translations Of Symbolic And Iconic Hybridity In Beloved And Things Falls Apart, Narongdej Phanthaphoommee
Journal of Letters
The objective of this study is to investigate Thai translations of postcolonial and African-American literature that contain linguistic hybridity as one of their main characteristics. The study applies Klinger’s (2015) concepts of symbolic and iconic hybridity in narration to explanations of the writers’ and translators’ intention to abrogate English writing norms by using non-standard language. The findings reveal that the Thai translators were unable to maintain the linguistic hybridity found in the source texts due to their use of additional cushioning and grammatically correct Thai language. Hence, the intention of the source texts to abrogate standard English disappears from the …

Assessing Scholarly Debates On The Significance Of The Deity Xiwangmu In Han Dynasty Tomb Art, Pattira Thaithosaeng, Suradej Intagorn
Journal of Letters
This paper discusses differing representations of Xiwangmu in Han art and texts. While these representations share some characteristics that indicate the same deity, Han artists’ created a wide variety pictures of Xiwangmu in tomb murals. Many leading scholars have produced excellent pieces of scholarship regarding Xiwangmu as depicted in Han art. The Han period was a significant time for the transformation of Xiwangmu. Various descriptions of her were recorded in pre-Han texts, and she gradually became a deity representing yin during the Han dynasty. However, Han texts do not provide a clear explanation for this change. We believe that Han …

Journal of Letters
This paper studies Ursula Poznanski’s Erebos (2010), a German young adult novel, in terms of the concerns it raises about the dangers of and solutions to computer game addiction among young adults. The novel shows the dominance of the computer game “Erebos,” which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to process the interests and desires of its players. These players are shown attaching themselves to their virtual selves so much that they deny their real-world selves, and are then manipulated by the Erebos AI to commit acts of violence. On the other hand, the novel reveals that such obsession can be solved …

Implications Of Salinity Normalization Of Seawater Total Alkalinity In Coral Reef Metabolism Studies, Travis A. Courtney, Tyler Cyronak, Alyssa J. Griffin, Andreas J. Andersson
Marine & Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles
Salinity normalization of total alkalinity (TA) and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) data is commonly used to account for conservative mixing processes when inferring net metabolic modification of seawater by coral reefs. Salinity (S), TA, and DIC can be accurately and precisely measured, but salinity normalization of TA (nTA) and DIC (nDIC) can generate considerable and unrecognized uncertainties in coral reef metabolic rate estimates. While salinity normalization errors apply to nTA, nDIC, and other ions of interest in coral reefs, here, we focus on nTA due to its application as a proxy for net coral reef calcification and the importance for …
