In the socio-cultural theoretical perspectives, learning is approached as a constructed outcome of interpersonal and intercontextual exchanges. Learners both influence and are influenced by the social and cultural milieu within which they are situated. Embedded learning draws from this perspective to prompt learning through lived experiences. This community based qualitative study examined the psychosocial and spiritual lives of 10 mature women (age 50 and older) who were at risk of becoming homeless, in other words, the hidden homeless. A narrative inquiry research design was employed to explore the lived experiences of these women. Voluntary participants were recruited through Life*Spin, a community based non profit organization that works primarily with low income families and individuals in London, Ontario. Death is a social and biological reality that affects everyone.However,the effects of death are not uniform. Data for this study were collected from a convenience sample (N=322) through an online survey distributed through social media and email (January and February 2021). The survey utilizes the Death Attitudes Profile –Revised by Wong, Reker, and Gesser (1994) to investigate differences in death attitudes across different demographics including age, gender, and religion. Results show correlations between positive, neutral, and negative death attitudes and the age of respondents, suggesting that negative death attitudes decrease as one ages, and certain types of positive attitudes increase. …

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a common and devastating disease characterized by pathological aggregations of beta-amyloid (Aβ) plaques extracellularly, and Tau tangles intracellularly. While our understandings of the aetiologies of AD have greatly expanded over the decades, there is no drug available to stop disease progression. This study involves two parts. First, we demonstrate the potential of P. edulis pericarp (PP) extract in protecting against Aβ-mediated neurotoxicity in mammalian cells and Caenorhabditis elegans models of AD. สถานการณ์ของผู้สูงอายุประเทศไทยใน พ.ศ. 2565 ประเทศไทยจะเข้าสู่สังคมสูงวัยอย่างสมบูรณ์ การเปลี่ยนแปลงดังกล่าวส่งผลทำให้ต้องจัดเตรียมสถานที่ดูแลที่สามารถรองรับและเข้าถึงกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ และจากการศึกษาประเภทที่พักอาศัยสำหรับผู้สูงอายุที่มีความต้องการพึ่งพิงบุคคลอื่นในประเทศไทยพบว่ามี 4 ประเภทคือ ไม่ต้องการพึ่งพิง, กึ่งพึ่งพิง, ต้องพึ่งพิง และระยะสุดท้าย โดยส่วนใหญ่จะเน้นการพัฒนาโครงการประเภทอยู่อย่างไม่ต้องการพึ่งพิง (Independent Living : IL) ซึ่งโครงการดังกล่าวสามารถรองรับภาวะพึ่งพิงของผู้สูงอายุได้แค่ช่วงระยะเวลาหนึ่งเท่านั้น และปัญหาคือเมื่อผู้สูงอายุเข้าสู่ภาวะพึ่งพิงในลำดับถัดไปมากขึ้น ผู้สูงอายุภายในโครงการประเภทดังกล่าวก็มีความจำเป็นที่จะต้องหาสถานที่ใหม่ หรือปรับเปลี่ยนสภาพแวดล้อมภายในพื้นที่เดิมให้มีความเหมาะสมต่อภาวะพึ่งพิงของผู้สูงอายุต่อไป ประเด็นดังกล่าวจึงกลายเป็นที่มาสำคัญของการศึกษาในครั้งนี้ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาสภาพแวดล้อมในปัจจุบันและการวางแผนที่อยู่อาศัยของผู้สูงอายุในอนาคต เพื่อหาแนวทางในการแก้ไขข้อจำกัดสภาพแวดล้อมให้สอดคล้องกับภาวะพึ่งพิงในปัจจุบัน รวมถึงหาแนวทางการพัฒนาที่พักอาศัยผู้สูงอายุในอนาคตให้มีความเหมาะสมกับบริบทสังคมผู้สูงอายุไทย กลุ่มตัวอย่างจะศึกษาจากผู้อยู่อาศัยภายในโครงการ, ผู้ที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับทางโครงการ รวมถึงผู้เชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะด้านเพื่อหาข้อสรุปเชิงเสนอแนะ โดยวิธีการเก็บข้อมูลจะใช้วิธีการเก็บแบบสอบถาม, แบบสำรวจ และแบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก โดยมีกรณีศึกษาในงานวิจัยนี้จำนวน 5 โครงการ ผลการศึกษาพบว่ากลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่ระบุว่าสภาพแวดล้อมในปัจจุบันมีปัญหา มีข้อจำกัด และอุปสรรคที่ไม่เหมาะสมต่อการใช้งาน โดยแต่ละโครงการจะมีข้อจำกัดในการใช้งานที่แตกต่างกันไปในแต่ละลำดับ และประเด็นปัญหาที่พบเหมือนกันแต่ลำดับแตกต่างกันได้แก่ประเด็นเรื่อง พรมเช็ดเท้า, พื้นที่เก็บ/ใส่รองเท้า และการแบ่งพื้นที่ส่วนเปียกและแห้งภายในห้องน้ำ จึงเสนอแนะแนวทางการปรับสภาพแวดล้อมตามคำแนะนำจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ, แนวคิดการออกแบบเพื่อทุกคน และข้อกำหนดหรือมาตรฐานที่เกี่ยวข้อง การวางแผนที่พักอาศัยเบื้องต้นพบว่าผู้สูงอายุส่วนใหญ่วางแผนอาศัยอยู่ภายในพื้นที่เดิม โดยถ้าหากจะต้องพึ่งพิงเพิ่มมากขึ้นในอนาคตมีแนวโน้มที่จะเปลี่ยนจากอาศัยอยู่ที่เดิมลดลงเป็นย้ายออกเพิ่มมากขึ้น โดยในมุมมองของผู้ประกอบการส่วนใหญ่คิดเห็นว่าการพัฒนาที่พักอาศัยสำหรับผู้สูงอายุในอนาคตควรจะอยู่ในสถานที่ หรืออยู่ภายในโครงการเดียวกันเพื่อที่จะสามารถดูแลผู้สูงอายุได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง ครอบคลุมและครบวงจร

สถานการณ์ของผู้สูงอายุในประเทศไทยได้เข้าสู่สังคมผู้สูงวัยอย่างสมบูรณ์ใน พ.ศ. 2565 ดังนั้นการเตรียมความพร้อมในการรองรับสังคมของผู้สูงอายุ จึงจำเป็นต้องร่วมมือกันในทุกๆภาคส่วนไม่ว่าจะเป็น ด้านเศรษฐกิจ สภาพแวดล้อม สุขภาพ สังคมและแนวทางแก้ไขปรับเปลี่ยนรูปแบบการดูแลผู้สูงอายุให้เข้ากับสภาพแวดล้อมและที่พักอาศัยให้เหมาะสมกับผู้สูงอายุ รัฐบาลจึงได้ออกมาตราการรองรับสังคมผู้สูงอายุ ในด้านต่างๆรวมถึง การสร้างที่พักอาศัยสำหรับผู้สูงอายุ (Senior Complex) ทำให้มีการพัฒนาโครงการที่พักอาศัยสำหรับผู้สูงอายุเพิ่มมากขึ้นในปัจจุบัน โดยโครงการอสังหาริมทรัพย์เพื่อผู้สูงอายุจะมีรูปแบบในการซื้อการเช่าและเข้าพักอาศัยแตกต่างกันออกไปไม่ว่าจะเป็นแบบ , ขายขาด , เช่าระยะยาว 30 ปี , การเช่าอยู่แบบรายเดือนและดูแลผู้สูงวัยแบบรายวัน จากข้อมูลที่กล่าวมาข้างต้นนี้ผู้วิจัยจึงสนใจในเรื่องสิทธิการเข้าพักอาศัยในรูปแบบที่แตกต่างกัน จึงกลายมาเป็นที่มาของการศึกษา แนวคิดการจัดการรูปแบบสิทธิการพักอาศัยในโครงการที่พักอาศัยผู้สูงอายุในประเทศไทย จากการศึกษาพบว่ากลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่เลือกที่จะซื้อที่อยู่อาศัยใหม่ประเภทโครงการที่พักอาศัยสำหรับผู้สูงอายุเมื่อเข้าสู่วัยเกษียณและเลือกสิทธิการเข้าพักอาศัยในโครงการผู้สูงอายุ ในรูปแบบรายเดือน และรูปแบบเช่าระยะยาวตลอดชีวิต โดยปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการเลือกสิทธิการพักอาศัยในโครงการที่พักอาศัยสำหรับผู้สูงอายุคือราคาของที่พักอาศัยและเงื่อนไขในการเข้าพัก จึงเสนอแนะแนวทางการจัดการรูปแบบสิทธิการพักอาศัยในมุมมองของผู้ประกอบการส่วนใหญ่ คิดเห็นว่าควรมีสิทธิการเข้าพักหลายรูปแบบในโครงการเดียวเพื่อให้ผู้สูงอายุสามารถเลือกให้เหมาะสมกับตัวเองมากที่สุดและเพิ่มสวัสดิการเพื่อผู้สูงอายุให้มากขึ้น ซึ่งจะทำให้ผู้สูงอายุสามารถเข้าถึงที่พักอาศัยในโครงการได้มากขึ้นและเพิ่มโอกาสทางการตลาดกับผู้พัฒนาโครงการ

This is a mixed-methods pre-experimental clinical effectiveness trial that examines the effectiveness of a self-administered one-directional mood vectoring playlist in the management of symptoms of anxiety. This study used the Spielberger State Trait Anxiety Inventory, as well as a self-report Likert-type scale where participants rated their anxiety symptom severity, to explore the impact of the playlist intervention. Background: Early administration of antibiotics in sepsis is associated with improved patient outcomes, but safe and generalizable approaches to de-escalate or discontinue antibiotics after suspected sepsis events are unknown.

Methods: We used a modified Delphi approach to identify safety criteria for an opt-out protocol to guide de-escalation or discontinuation of antibiotic therapy after 72 hours in non-ICU patients with suspected sepsis. An expert panel with expertise in antimicrobial stewardship and hospital epidemiology rated 48 unique criteria across 3 electronic survey rating tools. Background and purpose: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with a small but clinically significant risk of stroke, the cause of which is frequently cryptogenic. In a large multinational cohort of consecutive COVID-19 patients with stroke, we evaluated clinical predictors of cryptogenic stroke, short-term functional outcomes and inhospital mortality among patients according to stroke etiology.

Methods: We explored clinical characteristics and short-term outcomes of consecutively evaluated patients 18 years of age or older with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 from 31 hospitals in 4 countries (3/1/20–6/16/20).

Background During the COVID-19 pandemic, decreased volumes of stroke admissions and mechanical thrombectomy were reported. The study’s objective was to examine whether subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions demonstrated similar declines.

Methods We conducted a cross-sectional, retrospective, observational study across 6 continents, 37 countries and 140 comprehensive stroke centres. Patients with the diagnosis of SAH, aneurysmal SAH, ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions and COVID-19 were identified by prospective aneurysm databases or by International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, codes. BACKGROUND: Optimal management for recurrent IDH-mutant glioma after radiation therapy (RT) is not well-defined. This study assesses practice patterns for managing recurrent IDH-mutant astrocytoma (Astro) and 1p/19q codeleted oligodendroglioma (Oligo) after RT and surveys their clinical outcomes after different salvage approaches.

METHODS: Ninety-four recurrent Astro or Oligo patients after RT who received salvage systemic therapy (SST) between 2001 and 2019 at a tertiary cancer center were retrospectively analyzed. SST was defined as either alkylating chemotherapy (AC) or nonalkylating therapy (non-AC).
