In this essay, we compare our findings on job and workplace impacts to those reported in the MIT Task Force on the Work of the Future report, as we consider that to be the most comprehensive recent study on this topic.

COVID-19 created a support problem for public universities across the United States and required that IT departments and professionals alter how they performed in 2020, and perhaps beyond. IT professionals tasked with safeguarding large amounts of data were required to shift to a teleworking posture to continue offering a similar level of service as previously expected. In addition to the technological shift that organizations experienced because of COVID-19, leadership challenges also impacted IT departments across the United States. The authors summarized and analyzed the theoretical perspectives on knowledge risks based on certain criteria such as comprehensiveness, clarity and flexibility. This research has provided an extended knowledge risk taxonomy of Durst and Zieba (2018). The taxonomy now includes a strategic knowledge risks group that embraces knowledge loss, …

Five Core Dimensions Of Purposeful System Transformation, Sandra Waddock, Steve Waddell
Five Core Dimensions Of Purposeful System Transformation, Sandra Waddock, Steve Waddell
Journal of Management for Global Sustainability
System transformation is fundamental, broad, deep, and multi-scalar change that involves a paradigm change, i.e., a radical shift, in five key interrelated and interactive dimensions that constitute the whole of a “complexly wicked” socio-ecological system. This paper discusses these dimensions and provides a rationale for focusing on them. The dimensions are purpose(s), perspectives, and performance metrics. They provide an umbrella for the other two, power(s) relationships and dynamics, and the combination of practices, policies, and processes (practices for short) that characterize how a given socio-ecological system operates.
