Migración Indígena Ayuujk: Recuento De Una Trayectoria Familiar, Telmo Jiménez Diaz

Maya America: Journal of Essays, Commentary, and Analysis

Maya America: Journal of Essays, Commentary, and Analysis

Direct-To-Consumer Genetic Testing, Ellen W. Clayton, Et Al. Nov 2021

Direct-To-Consumer Genetic Testing, Ellen W. Clayton, Et Al.

Vanderbilt Law School Faculty Publications

Direct-to-consumer genetic testing is marketed as a tool to uncover ancestry and kin. Recent studies of actual and potential users have demonstrated that individuals’ responses to the use of these tests for these purposes are complex, with privacy, disruptive consequences, potential for misuse, and secondary use by law enforcement cited as potential concerns. We conducted six focus groups with a diverse sample of participants (n = 62) who were aware of but had not used direct-to-consumer genetic tests, in an effort to understand more about what people considering these tests think about the potential value, risks, and benefits of such …

A Systematic Review Of Health State Utility Values In The Plastic Surgery Literature, Adrienne Christopher, Martin P Morris, Viren Patel, Kevin Klifto, John P Fischer

Department of Surgery Faculty Papers

Cost-utility analyses assess health gains acquired by interventions by incorporating weighted health state utility values (HSUVs). HSUVs are important in plastic and reconstructive surgery (PRS) because they include qualitative metrics when comparing operative techniques or interventions. We systematically reviewed the literature to identify the extent and quality of existing original utilities research within PRS.

Methods: A systematic review of articles with original PRS utility data was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines. Subspecialty, survey sample size, and respondent characteristics were extracted. For each HSUV, the utility measure [direct (standard gamble, time …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The Qur'an views the Library as an essential means to be able to change a nation that initially did not understand anything into a country that is knowledgeable and has a high civilization. This is evidenced by the mention of the roles of libraries in the Qur'an, which at least consists of several concepts, the concept of reading, the concept of writing, the idea of science, the concept of education, the concept of worship, the concept of communication and information. Pollinator Gardens And Their Significance, Emma Lee Nov 2021

Pollinator Gardens And Their Significance, Emma Lee

Honors Theses

Abstract description: Pollinator populations are declining, leading to a global issue. This is due to human interference through intense agricultural production, habitat fragmentation, and pesticide use. Pollinators, mostly insects, are important for the reproductive success of plants and also provide many other benefits to humans like helping produce the foods we commonly eat. To be able to survive, pollinators need to have proper shelter and nectar. One way to supplement these needs for pollinators is creating pollinator gardens. Pollinator gardens should include a mix of trees, shrubs, and flowers that have large nectar rewards and are species that are preferred …

Promoting Privacy, Fairness And The Open Court Principle In Immigration And Refugee Proceedings, Jon Khan, Sean Rehaag

All Papers

Court decisions and court documents are becoming easier to access online than ever before. This access provides many possible benefits, including increased fairness. But court decisions and documents often contain intensely personal information. Public exposure of that private information may even lead to significant harm. The Federal Court of Canada has demonstrated leadership among Canadian courts in attempting to proactively grapple with these issues, including by consulting stakeholders about increased electronic access to court records.

We—researchers connected with the Refugee Law Lab based out of York University’s Centre for Refugee Studies and Osgoode Hall Law School—write this paper to participate …

Listening To Queens: Ghana's Women Traditional Leaders As A Model For Gender Parity, Kristen M. Vogel Nov 2021

Listening To Queens: Ghana's Women Traditional Leaders As A Model For Gender Parity, Kristen M. Vogel

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

A movement begun in 2011 inspired multilateral organizations such as the United Nations to collaborate with Ghana’s women traditional leaders on an inherently postcolonial indigenous and transnational feminist project, promoting Queens’ national recognition. Despite the initial power of the movement, it faded over time. Yet it spurred the formation of various new Queens’ associations throughout Ghana. The associations have grown and continue to grow, and the National Council of Women Traditional Leaders that spurred the first movement has returned stronger and with new strategies. As Ghana’s Queens seek their traditional right, an equal voice at all levels of leadership, it …

Development And Initial Validation Of A Scale To Measure Momentary Self-Concept Clarity, William D. Ellison, Juyoung Yun, Margaret I. Lupo, Autumn K. Lucas-Marinelli, Victoria B. Marshall, Arielle Faith R. Matic, Alec C. Trahan Nov 2021

Development And Initial Validation Of A Scale To Measure Momentary Self-Concept Clarity, William D. Ellison, Juyoung Yun, Margaret I. Lupo, Autumn K. Lucas-Marinelli, Victoria B. Marshall, Arielle Faith R. Matic, Alec C. Trahan

Psychology Faculty Research

Several studies have suggested that momentary self-concept clarity (SCC) levels are important for emotion regulation and self-control processes, but these studies have used unvalidated measures of momentary SCC. Here, we report on the development and preliminary validation of a brief self-report scale, the Momentary Self-Concept Clarity Scale (M-SCCS). One hundred and twenty-two adults completed momentary SCC items 6-7 times per day for two weeks. Multilevel factor analyses suggested the M-SCCS has good factorial validity. The scale also showed excellent between-person reliability, fair within-person reliability, and patterns of criterion relations that resemble other self-report measures of SCC. There was little measurement …

Professional Practices (ART 399)

Paper is a material that is all around us and has been telling stories for centuries, blurring the line between dimensional planes. I began using paper for its obvious function – to draw upon and express thoughts and ideas. Communicating is a vital part of the art process, and the more I drew the more the images and ideas created took on a new function, a new language. I’ve come to realize that drawing is a highly fluid process that resists categorization. I cut and layer paper, drawings, mixed media materials, and 3D elements within my large-scale works, maneuvering multiple …
