Characterization of differently textured porous materials, as well as different volumetric porous media mixtures, in relation to mass and heat transport is vital for many engineering and research applications. Functional relations describing physical (e.g., grain-size distribution, total porosity), thermal, and gas diffusion properties of porous media and mixtures are necessary to optimize the design of porous systems that involve heat and gas transport processes. However, only a limited number of studies provide characterization of soil physical, thermal, and gas diffusion properties and the functional relationships of these properties under varying soil water contents, especially for soil mixtures, complicating optimization efforts. …
The Parent Role In Teen Digital Citizenship, Christi Harp
The Parent Role In Teen Digital Citizenship, Christi Harp
Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology Dissertations
This research presents a case study on the parent role in adolescent digital citizenship in the Southeastern United States. This study involved ten parents of middle school students who are exemplars of involvement in their children’s digital lives. Research shows that teens are using technology at a rapid rate and there is a need for positive digital citizenship among youth. Research studies have been conducted on adolescents, teachers, media specialists, and administrators regarding digital citizenship. There is a need for research to be conducted involving parents and what role they play in the development of their child’s digital citizenship skills. …

The process e+e−→ π+π−π0γ is studied at a center-of-mass energy near the ϒ(4S) resonance using a data sample of 469 fb−1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. We have performed a precise measurement of the e+e−→ π+π−π0 cross section in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.62 to 3.5 GeV. In the energy regions of theω and ϕ resonances, the cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 1.3%. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the …
Reported Reasons For Avoiding The Covid-19 Vaccine Vary By Age, Kelsey Wilber
Reported Reasons For Avoiding The Covid-19 Vaccine Vary By Age, Kelsey Wilber
Population Health Research Brief Series
Despite various efforts by governments, businesses, and health care providers, a large share of the U.S. population remains resistant to getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Understanding why individuals refuse the vaccine is important for tailoring interventions to improve vaccination rates. This brief examines age differences in reasons reported for not getting the vaccine. Concerns about possible side effects are the most common among every age group, but other reported reasons, including lack of trust in the vaccine and the government vary by age group. Findings suggest that tackling COVID-19 misinformation is critical to increase vaccination rates in the United States.

Complementary Or Alternative Medicine Usage Of Mothers Seeking To Prevent Coronavirus Illness Or Manage Symptoms: Identifying Relationships Existing Between Mental Constructs And Concepts Of The Health Belief Model, Gabrielle Frachiseur
Health and Kinesiology Theses
Background: Mothers are the central supportive structure in most households. Mothers can become overwhelmed by informational overload when selecting the most appropriate modalities of care to provide for their families during the pandemic. The researcher sought to discover the prevalence of complementary or alternative medicine usage (CAM) for the prevention of coronavirus illness or symptoms management. Additionally, the researcher sought to identify the relationship between three additional mental constructs; knowledge, attitudes and beliefs, and constructs of the Health Belief Model, that could affect CAM adoption.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was dispersed to 5 private Facebook groups. The survey was targeted …
Impact Of Theory-Based Interventions On Meaningfulness Of Undergraduate Nursing Pharmacology Student Learning, Betsy L. Mauldin
Impact Of Theory-Based Interventions On Meaningfulness Of Undergraduate Nursing Pharmacology Student Learning, Betsy L. Mauldin
Nursing Theses and Dissertations
Objective: Nursing pharmacology is a complex and content-dense course, often cited as difficult for nurse educators and students and a reason for not progressing in nursing curricula. Even nurses who experience high academic performance report feeling ill-prepared to adequately perform medication management for nursing practice in the current fast-paced environment. The objective of this five-chapter portfolio is to explain the development and implementation of a two-pronged intervention to facilitate meaningful learning of pharmacology principles within nursing students. Chapter 1 describes an overview of the approach to the intervention.
Methods: Chapter 2 describes one prong of the study intervention, the Pharmacology …
Cultivating Culturally Responsive Elementary Teachers In A Suburban Title I School, Angela L. Mack
Cultivating Culturally Responsive Elementary Teachers In A Suburban Title I School, Angela L. Mack
Doctor of Education in Teacher Leadership Dissertations
Research suggests increased enrollment of students with diverse cultural, racial, linguistic, and social backgrounds will continue in schools across the United States over the coming years; thereby, imposing a challenge for some teachers with differing backgrounds to instruct culturally and linguistically diverse students. Without adequate professional development focused on culturally responsive teaching, it has been purported teachers will continue to adopt deficit perceptions and subpar practices that negatively impact students of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Thus, this study aimed to explore how a series of in-service professional development focused on culture, race, and pedagogy may influence teacher perceptions and …

Covid-19: Coping Strategies Predicting Mental Health Outcomes, Crystal Lim
Covid-19: Coping Strategies Predicting Mental Health Outcomes, Crystal Lim
Honors Theses
The rates of COVID-19 cases and deaths caused are increasing. Studies have been reporting the inclining rate of psychological distress during the pandemic, which calls for attention to how the pandemic has impacted mental health outcomes. Coping strategies are helpful when it comes to predicting mental health outcomes. However, limited studies looked at coping strategies predicting mental health outcomes longitudinally. The study hypothesized that psychological distress would decrease during mid-pandemic and adaptive coping strategies such as active coping, acceptance, positive reframing, instrumental support, emotional support, religion, humor, and planning decrease psychological distress while maladaptive included denial and venting, behavioral disengagements, …

We study the processes e+e−→ π+π−π0π0π0π0γ and π+π−π0π0π0ηγ in which an energetic photon is radiated from the initial state. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. About 7300 and 870 events, respectively, are selected from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb−1. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective e+e− center-of-mass energy. The center-of-mass …
