AbstractThis paper interrogates the concept of recontextualisation and discusses its relevance for understandings of the knowledge required for teaching subjects. While various distinctive approaches to recontextualisation can be identified, this analysis primarily draws on the work of Bernstein, with recontextualisation discussed in the broader context of work on the sociology of educational knowledge. It is argued that Bernstein's approach to recontextualisation can be usefully extended by absorbing insights derived from recent work conceptualising expertise and practice, through a reconsideration of disciplinarity, and by reflecting on historical studies of the transformation of specialised practical knowledge. Collaboration is important for the cultivation of a rich ecosystem of ideas, thoughts, methods, theories, and experimentation. This article explores the complex interactions of gender with the materiality of the processes of becoming and being a glove in the early modern period. Through an investigation of gloves, glove parts, and their ephemeral presentation (through leather, embroidery, and perfume), we argue that gender and materiality act in dialogic ways to produce power relations, and that considerations of gender, power, and materiality are central to our understanding of how material things function in a given society, embedded in social practices and cultural processes of production, consumption, and exchange. In this article, I argue that writing with intimacy through an animation of Deleuzian thought helps to destabilize the simply human practice of signifying, representing, and locating emotions within a metaphysics of being, which firmly ignores affective relationality and the emergence of posthuman practices of thinking and doing. By positing the practice of intimating, I argue that such an approach will prompt movement away from thinking about what a body is or what it might mean toward moving with and sensing encounters and engagements with what bodies can do. Background

Healthcare professionals and surrogate decision-makers often face the difficult decision of whether to initiate or withhold antibiotics from people with dementia who have developed a life-threatening infection after losing decisional capacity.

Methods

We conducted a vignette-based survey among 1050 Quebec stakeholders (senior citizens, family caregivers, nurses and physicians; response rate 49.4%) to (1) assess their attitudes toward withholding antibiotics from people with dementia lacking decisional capacity; (2) compare attitudes between dementia stages and stakeholder groups; and (3) investigate other correlates of attitudes, including support for continuous deep sedation (CDS) and medical assistance in dying (MAID). This dissertation explores new possibilities for researching and representing community-engaged curriculum and pedagogical practices among faculty and their doctoral students. Community-engagement is (re)imagined within nonfiction-fiction writing to provide a line of inquiry that integrates data and theory (Jackson & Mazzei, 2017). I probe, question, and disrupt stable notions of engaged teaching-learning and research. Foucauldian concept of power/knowledge is used to interrogate faculty/doctoral students’ shifting subjectivities and discursive construction of community-engagement. This paper highlights the importance of appropriate communication with individuals who suffer from eating disorders (ED). The negative perception that society has towards ED often leads its patients to conceal their problems and avoid seeking help (Perveen et al., 2017). Understanding the manners in which support-providers approach ED patients in order to eliminate the fear is therefore important. Sexual harassment has been the topic of thousands of research articles in the 20th and 21st centuries. Several review papers have been developed to synthesize the literature about sexual harassment. While traditional literature review studies provide valuable insights, these studies have some limitations including analyzing a limited number of papers, being time-consuming and labor-intensive, focusing on a few topics, and lacking temporal trend analysis. It may come as no surprise that Twitter is the most popular social media platform where student athletes, particularly men, post inappropriate content. Male student athletes’ inappropriate tweets have become such a problem for universities, athletic departments, and the NCAA that coaches are forced to place a ban on their players’ social media usage or hire third party monitoring systems. The Philippine migration scholarship heavily focuses on heteronormative issues that depict the migrant workers as heterosexuals. Due to this trend, there is a scarcity of studies on overseas Filipino workers who identify as part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Community. Hence, this qualitative research focuses on eleven documented Filipino workers in Thailand who are males assigned at birth and identify as gay homosexuals. This study focuses on cinema as an agent of soft power in promoting Chinese national identity and patriotism. This study used two research methods. First, a qualitative method of narrative analysis was used to examine three new mainstream films, Wolf Warrior 2, Operation Red Sea, and The Battle at Lake Changjin. วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่อง “ความเป็นวีรชนคนสามัญในละครไทยพีบีเอส” เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา 1) การสร้างสรรค์ความเป็นวีรชนคนสามัญในละครไทยพีบีเอส และ 2) วิเคราะห์ลักษณะความเป็นวีรชนคนสามัญที่ปรากฏในละครไทยพีบีเอส โดยใช้การวิเคราะห์ตัวบท (textual analysis) จากละครไทยพีบีเอสจำนวน 7 เรื่อง ประกอบกับการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกผู้สร้างสรรค์และผู้ควบคุมการผลิตละครไทยพีบีเอส นักวิชาการ และการสนทนากลุ่มกับตัวแทนสภาผู้ชมผู้ฟังไทยพีบีเอส ผลการวิจัยพบว่าการสร้างสรรค์ความเป็นวีรชนคนสามัญในละครไทยพีบีเอสมักนำเสนอในรูปแบบละครยาวแนวชีวิตและอิงประวัติศาสตร์ มักมีโครงสร้างการเล่าเรื่องแบบไม่เรียงลำดับเหตุการณ์ จุดเริ่มต้นในการออกเดินทางต่อสู้ของวีรชนคนสามัญแบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภทคือ 1) เห็นผู้อื่นได้รับความเดือดร้อน 2) ตนเองได้รับความเดือดร้อน วัตถุประสงค์การต่อสู้ ได้แก่ 1) ด้านคุณธรรมจริยธรรม และ 2) ท้าทายและต่อต้านค่านิยมหรือกฎเกณฑ์อันไม่ชอบธรรมในสังคม ลักษณะวีรชน คนสามัญในละครไทยพีบีเอสมักมีความเป็นมนุษย์ที่สมจริง มีตัวละครฝ่ายสนับสนุน 3 ประเภท ได้แก่ 1) ครอบครัว 2) เพื่อนหรือเพื่อนร่วมงาน และ 3) ผู้ทรงภูมิความรู้หรือนักบวช ส่วนตัวละครผู้ร้ายมักมิใช่ผู้ร้ายตามขนบ ได้แก่ 1) ผู้มีอำนาจทางการปกครอง 2) ผู้บังคับบัญชา 3) ครอบครัว และ 4) ผู้มีอำนาจทางเศรษฐกิจ ส่วนความขัดแย้งที่พบแบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภท ได้แก่ 1) ความขัดแย้งกับสังคม และ 2) ความขัดแย้งภายในจิตใจของตนเอง ในด้านฉากการต่อสู้ของวีรชนคนสามัญมักเกิดในที่ทำงานและที่บ้านเป็นหลัก ส่วนจุดจบของวีรชนคนสามัญแบ่งได้ 3 ประเภท ได้แก่ 1) สานต่อความฝันหรือการผจญภัยบทใหม่ 2) กลับถิ่นฐานบ้านเกิด และ 3) ได้รับบาดเจ็บหรือเสียชีวิต นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าคุณลักษณะสำคัญที่เป็นจุดร่วมของวีรชนคนสามัญในละครไทยพีบีเอส คือความกล้าหาญเสียสละเพื่อคนในสังคมและที่สำคัญคือการเอาชนะอุปสรรคภายในหรือจิตใจฝ่ายต่ำของตนเองไปให้ได้ ส่วนลักษณะการต่อสู้เป็นการสู้โดยปราศจากอาวุธ อีกทั้งวีรชนคนสามัญในละครไทยพีบีเอสมักมีทุกเพศทุกวัยและปรากฏอยู่ทั่วทุกภูมิภาคของประเทศไทย

ระบอบอาณานิคมของอังกฤษในพม่าและแหลมมลายูกับการจัดการมณฑลพายัพของรัฐสยาม ค.ศ. 1894-1933, ชัยวัฒน์ ปะสุนะ

ทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ศึกษากระบวนการบริหารจัดการอาณานิคมของอังกฤษในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้เฉพาะในพม่าและแหลมมลายู ในฐานะต้นแบบให้แก่การบริหารจัดการมณฑลพายัพของรัฐบาลสยามในช่วง ค.ศ. 1894-1933 และศึกษากระบวนการเรียนรู้และนำระบอบอาณานิคมของอังกฤษในพม่าและแหลมมลายู มาใช้บริหารจัดการมณฑลพายัพของรัฐบาลสยาม ผลศึกษาพบว่าการเผชิญกับระบอบอาณานิคมอังกฤษอย่างเข้มข้นในมณฑลพายัพ ส่งผลให้รัฐบาลสยามรวมอำนาจการปกครองสู่ศูนย์กลาง จุดเปลี่ยนสำคัญที่รัฐบาลอาณานิคมอังกฤษและฝรั่งเศสร่วมลงนามในปฏิญญากำหนดเขตอิทธิพล ค.ศ. 1896 ส่งผลให้เป็นการรับรองเอกราชของสยามให้มีอธิปไตยเหนือมณฑลพายัพ และฝ่ายอังกฤษยังคงครองสัดส่วนผู้แสวงหาผลประโยชน์ด้านเศรษฐกิจในมณฑลพายัพ ฉะนั้นรัฐบาลสยามจึงเร่งปฏิรูปการจัดการปกครองในมณฑลพายัพในทุกมิติ ดังสะท้อนได้จากการออกกฎหมายและการพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐานในมณฑลพายัพที่เติบโตอย่างรวดเร็วในช่วงปลายคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 19 ถึงต้นคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 20 รัฐบาลสยามเรียนรู้วิธีจัดการปกครองตามระบอบอาณานิคม ขณะเดียวกันรัฐบาลอาณานิคมของอังกฤษได้ให้ความช่วยเหลือสยามหลายด้าน เพื่อพัฒนามณฑลพายัพรวมถึงประเทศสยามให้สอดคล้องกับบริบทของรัฐอาณานิคมรอบข้าง ดังนั้นอิทธิพลจากระบอบอาณานิคมของอังกฤษจึงถือเป็นต้นแบบการจัดการปกครองสำหรับรัฐบาลสยาม

การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) วิเคราะห์คุณค่าของเพลงที่มีเนื้อหาจากวรรณคดีไทยเรื่องรามเกียรติ์ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2550-2560 วิธีเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเฉพาะเจาะจง (purposive sampling) จำนวน 6 บทเพลง โดยใช้เครื่องมือ คือ แบบบันทึกการวิเคราะห์คุณค่าของเพลงและแบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ผลการวิจัย พบว่า คุณค่าด้านวรรณศิลป์ประกอบด้วย การสรรคำ การใช้โวหารและรสวรรณคดีสันสกฤต คุณค่าด้านเนื้อหา ได้แก่ ความหมายของบทเพลงและความหมายของบทพระราชนิพนธ์เรื่องรามเกียรติ์รวมทั้งจริยธรรมที่เป็นข้อประพฤติปฏิบัติและศีลธรรมซึ่งเป็นสิ่งสำคัญที่จะช่วยจรรโลงและให้คติสอนใจแก่ผู้อ่านวรรณคดีหรือฟังบทเพลง คุณค่าด้านคีตศิลป์ได้แก่ เทคนิควิธีการขับร้อง การสื่อความหมายและการสื่ออารมณ์ คุณค่าด้านทัศนศิลป์ได้แก่ การตีความเนื้อหาและการนำเสนอ 2) เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางการถ่ายทอดคุณค่าเพลงที่มีเนื้อหาจากวรรณคดีไทย ผลจากการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาพบว่าองค์ความรู้ในการถ่ายทอดเพลงที่มีเนื้อหาจากวรรณคดีไทยประกอบด้วยคุณค่าด้านต่าง ๆ ความรู้ลักษณะดังกล่าวเป็นความรู้แบบองค์รวมซึ่งสามารถบูรณาการใช้ประโยชน์ได้หลากหลายรูปแบบโดยมีขั้นตอนของการผลิตเพลงเพื่อถ่ายทอดคุณค่าวรรณคดีไทย ได้แก่ 1. ขั้นเตรียมการผลิต (Pre-Production) คือการกำหนดทิศทางขั้นตอนในการทำงานว่า จะทำอะไร จะทำอย่างไร จะได้อะไร 2. ขั้นตอนการผลิต (Production) คือการแปรรูปวรรณคดีสู่บทเพลงและมิวสิควิดีโอและ 3. ขั้นตอนหลังการผลิต (Post-Production) คือ ขั้นตอนการประเมินผลงานและสรรหาแนวทางใหม่ ๆ ที่ดีและเหมาะสมในการจัดทำผลงานเพลงที่มีเนื้อหาจากวรรณคดีไทยเพื่อถ่ายทอดคุณค่าด้านต่าง ๆ ไปสู่ผู้ชมผู้ฟังได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

งานวิจัย บทบาทของผีไทยในสังคมเมืองร่วมสมัยในนวนิยายชุด ผีมหานคร วัตถุประสงค์ในการวิจัยคือ เพื่อศึกษาศึกษาการปรับเปลี่ยนของผีไทยในคติความเชื่อพื้นบ้านและคติทางพระพุทธศาสนามาสู่สังคมเมืองร่วมสมัย ซึ่งในที่นี้คือกรุงเทพมหานคร และศึกษาสภาพของสังคมเมืองร่วมสมัย ตลอดจนประสบการณ์ สภาวะ อารมณ์ความรู้สึกของคนเมืองในนวนิยายออร์บันกอทิกชุด ผีมหานคร จำนวน 4 เล่ม อันประกอบไปด้วย กระสือ ของ RabbitRose กระหัง ของ ทวิวัฒน์ ปอป ของ ธุวัฒธรรพ์ และ เปรต ของ ปราปต์ จากการศึกษาพบว่า แม้สังคมจะมีการพัฒนามาเป็นสังคมเมืองร่วมสมัยด้วยอิทธิพลจากความเป็นสมัยใหม่ แต่ความเชื่อเรื่องผีที่เป็นความเชื่อดั้งเดิมก็ไม่เคยหายไปจากสังคมไทย ทั้งนี้เนื่องจากผีเป็นผลผลิตของสังคมแต่ละสมัย ดังนั้น ผีไทยทั้ง 4 ชนิดคือกระสือ กระหัง ปอป และ เปรตจึงมีการปรับเปลี่ยนเพื่อให้เข้ากับบริบทของสังคมเมืองร่วมสมัยโดยรับอิทธิพลจากการพัฒนาตามแบบสมัยใหม่และแนวคิดแบบสมัยใหม่ อาทิ ทุนนิยม บริโภคนิยม ปัจเจกนิยม ความเป็นเมือง เป็นต้น ทั้งนี้การปรับเปลี่ยนของผีแต่ละชนิดยังคงมีรากฐานมาจากคติความเชื่อพื้นบ้านและคติทางพระพุทธศาสนาจึงยังคงเห็นร่องรอยเดิมของผีแต่ละชนิด การปรากฏของผีไทยในสังคมเมืองร่วมสมัยเป็นการมาเผยให้เห็นอีกด้านหนึ่งของสังคมเมืองร่วมสมัยที่เต็มไปด้วยความผิดปกติ ความรุนแรง ความเสื่อมโทรมถดถอยที่ถูกปกปิดด้วยความเป็นปกติจากกฎเกณฑ์ของสังคมเมือง และยังนำเสนอให้เห็นประสบการณ์ อารมณ์ความรู้สึกของคนเมืองในการใช้ชีวิตภายใต้กฎเกณฑ์ของสังคมเมืองที่ไม่อาจถ่ายทอดด้วยคำพูดหรือวิธีการตามปกติได้จึงต้องอาศัยผีที่เป็นสิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติในการช่วยถ่ายทอดประสบการณ์ อารมณ์ความรู้สึกดังกล่าว

Using a dis/ability critical race theory (DisCrit) and critical quantitative (QuantCrit) lens, we examine disproportionate application of exclusionary discipline on multiply marginalized youth, foregrounding systemic injustice and institutionalized racism. In doing so, we examined temporal-, student-, and school-level factors that may result in exclusion and othering (i.e., placing into special education and punishing with out-of-school suspensions) within one school district. We frame this study in DisCrit and QuantCrit frameworks to connect data-based decision making to sociocultural understandings of the ways in which schools use both special education and discipline to simultaneously provide and limit opportunities for different student groups.
