Adsorption Desorption Operations Of Multilayer Desiccant Packed Bed For Dehumidification Applications., A. Kabeel

Mansoura Engineering Journal

In this work, the effect of design and operating parameters on the performance of a multilayer desiccant packed bed was theoretically and experimentally studied. In the experimental work, a silica gel packed bed of eight layers has been studied. The transient value of the mass of adsorbed water and desorbed water were measured for different values of the bed length. The theoretical model shows the dependence of the dimensionless value of water content in the bed on the dimensionless time. Also the model shows that the dimensionless temperature depends on the bed characteristics and bed water content. The effect of …

Performance Analysis Of Sliding Window Multiuser Detectors Used In Asynchronous Ds-Cdma Systems., Mohamed Samy, Mohamed El-Dakiky, Islam Shaalan Dec 2020

Performance Analysis Of Sliding Window Multiuser Detectors Used In Asynchronous Ds-Cdma Systems., Mohamed Samy, Mohamed El-Dakiky, Islam Shaalan

Mansoura Engineering Journal

In this paper, the sliding-window method is applied on both decorrelating and linear minimum mean-squared error (LMMSE) multiuser detectors. The analytical expressions for the error probability of those multiuser detectors (MUDs) are derived. The analysis is presented for asynchronous direct sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and multipath fading environment. The adopted detectors divide the received signal stream into processing windows and process them window by window. The effects of expanding the processing-window length on the error probabilities are investigated. The analysis shows that the error performance of the decorrelating detector is much better than …

Farmers’ Place-Based Discourse About Water Relations: Ways Of Knowing Water And Multispecies Survival, Jeffrey Alan Hoffmann Dec 2020

Farmers’ Place-Based Discourse About Water Relations: Ways Of Knowing Water And Multispecies Survival, Jeffrey Alan Hoffmann

Communication ETDs

The present study looks at farmers’ discourse about water and water relations. Through qualitative interviews using the method of cultural discourse analysis (CuDA), and the framework of ecocultural dialectics, the study reveals how, as farmers talk about water, they also make explicit and implicit arguments about specific cultural relations with the biosphere, as well as the role of identity, place, and power in designing and implementing agricultural solutions to ecological and social problems. I argue that the contradictions in how farmers discursively envision the problems of water pollution and scarcity, as well as solutions to those problems in their farming …

Impact Of Network And Host Characteristics On The Keystroke Pattern In Remote Desktop Sessions, I Kuzminykh, B Ghita, A Silonosov

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Authentication based on keystroke dynamics is a convenient biometric approach, easy in use, transparent, and cheap as it does not require a dedicated sensor. Keystroke authentication, as part of multi factor authentication, can be used in remote display access to guarantee the security of use of remote connectivity systems during the access control phase or throughout the session. This paper investigates how network conditions and additional host interaction may impact the behavioural pattern of keystrokes when used in a remote desktop application scenario. We focus on the timing of adjacent keys and investigate this impact by calculating the variations of …

This paper presents a review of the current state of security of IoT in companies that produce IoT products and have begun a transformation towards the digitalization of their products and the associated production processes. The analysis of challenges in IoT security was conducted based on the review of resources and reports on IoT security, while mapping …

Monomer Selection For In Situ Polymerization Infusion Manufacture Of Natural-Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic-Matrix Marine Composites, Yang Qin, John Summerscales, Jasper Graham-Jones, Maozhou Meng, Richard Pemberton Dec 2020

Monomer Selection For In Situ Polymerization Infusion Manufacture Of Natural-Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic-Matrix Marine Composites, Yang Qin, John Summerscales, Jasper Graham-Jones, Maozhou Meng, Richard Pemberton

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Awareness of environmental issues has led to increasing interest from composite researchers in using “greener” materials to replace synthetic fiber reinforcements and petrochemical polymer matrices. Natural fiber bio-based thermoplastic composites could be an appropriate choice with advantages including reducing environmental impacts, using renewable resources and being recyclable. The choice of polymer matrix will significantly affect the cost, manufacturing process, mechanical properties and durability of the composite system. The criteria for appropriate monomers are based on the processing temperature and viscosity, polymer mechanical properties, recyclability, etc. This review considers the selection of thermoplastic monomers suitable for in situ polymerization during resin, …

Wait Line Behaviors At Restaurants During Covid-19, Pamela E. Hollis, Cheyenne Vannier, Patrick Millegan, Jessica Reagan

Undergraduate Presentations

We were assigned to do field work observations through a series of individual data collection sessions. My group member and I choose to do observations at restaurants to see how covid has impacted waiting in line due to their facility reaching capacity. We each chose different locations to observe and collect data. Within this research project, we were able to identify different behaviors of people waiting. Some people were patient, kind, and courteous while other’s were impatient and rude. These observations were made by each observer at these different locations.
