The objective of this study was to investigate school management in Thailand based on career-related programme concepts. The school selected for this study was an international school which applies career-related programme concepts. Interviews were conducted with three key informants, namely, which are two school administrators and one curriculum coordinator. The qualitative data were analyzed using analytic induction. The research findings reveal three key points. First, curriculum development has three aspects; they are common subjects, core-career subjects (personal and professional skills, service learning, language development, reflective project), and training-careerselective subjects, which involves teaching in the two final years of secondary school. …

วัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยครั้งนี้เพื่อ 1) ศึกษากรอบแนวคิดของการบริหารโรงเรียนเพื่อเสริมสร้างจิตสำนึกและการปฏิบัติของนักเรียนในการลดภาวะโลกร้อน 2) ศึกษาสภาพปัจจุบันและสภาพที่พึงประสงค์ จุดแข็ง จุดอ่อน โอกาส และภาวะคุกคาม ของการบริหารโรงเรียนฯ การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน ตัวอย่าง ได้แก่ โรงเรียนระดับประถมศึกษา สังกัดสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน จำนวน 395 โรง เครื่องมือวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบสอบถาม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการหาค่าความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และค่าดัชนี PNI_modified
ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1) กรอบแนวคิดของการบริหารโรงเรียนฯ ประกอบด้วย การบริหารโรงเรียนในด้านการบริหารวิชาการและการบริหารทั่วไป และการเสริมสร้างจิตสำนึกและการปฏิบัติของนักเรียน 2) สภาพปัจจุบันของการบริหารโรงเรียน ในภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง (M = 3.349) เมื่อพิจารณารายด้าน พบว่า การจัดอาคารสถานที่และแหล่งเรียนรู้ มีค่าเฉลี่ยสภาพปัจจุบันสูงที่สุด (M = 3.553) สภาพที่พึงประสงค์ ในภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก (M = 3.839 ) เมื่อพิจารณารายด้าน พบว่า การจัดอาคารสถานที่และแหล่งเรียนรู้ มีค่าเฉลี่ยสภาพที่พึงประสงค์สูงที่สุด (M = 3.946) 3) จุดแข็ง คือ ด้านการจัดการเรียนรู้ และการจัดการอาคารสถานที่ สภาพแวดล้อม/ แหล่งเรียนรู้ในโรงเรียน ส่วนจุดอ่อน คือ การพัฒนาหลักสูตร การวัดผลประเมินผลและ งานกิจการนักเรียน โอกาส คือ นโยบายของรัฐ และสภาพสังคมส่วนภาวะคุกคาม คือ สภาพเศรษฐกิจ และสภาพเทคโนโลยี

การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ประเมินสมรรถนะความรู้วิชาชีพครูช่างอุตสาหกรรมแบบพหุมิติของนักศึกษาหลักสูตรครุศาสตรอุตสาหกรรม และ 2) เปรียบเทียบสมรรถนะความรู้วิชาชีพครูช่างอุตสาหกรรมแบบพหุมิติ จำแนกตามสาขาวิชา ตัวอย่างเป็นนักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 4 หลักสูตรครุศาสตรอุตสาหกรรมบัณฑิต ปีการศึกษา 2559 จำนวน 936 คน ด้วยวิธีการสุ่มแบบหลายขั้นตอน จากมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลทั่วประเทศ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบวัดสมรรถนะความรู้วิชาชีพครูช่างอุตสาหกรรมแบบพหุมิติ
ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1) ผลการประเมินสมรรถนะความรู้วิชาชีพครูช่างอุตสาหกรรมแบบพหุมิติในมิติความรู้วิชาชีพครู นักศึกษาส่วนใหญ่มีผลการประเมินอยู่ในระดับไม่ผ่านร้อยละ 65.92 ส่วนมิติความรู้วิชาชีพช่างอุตสาหกรรมมีผลการประเมินอยู่ในระดับไม่ผ่านร้อยละ 58.76 2) ผลการเปรียบเทียบสมรรถนะความรู้วิชาชีพครูช่างอุตสาหกรรมแบบพหุมิติในมิติความรู้วิชาชีพครูและมิติความรู้วิชาชีพช่างอุตสาหกรรมพบว่า สมรรถนะความรู้วิชาชีพครูช่างอุตสาหกรรมแตกต่างกันตามสาขาวิชา อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ทั้ง 2 มิติ

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนากรอบแนวคิดการวิเคราะห์แบบแผนการอบรมเลี้ยงดูเด็กของผู้ปกครองในกลุ่มชาวเขาเผ่าม้ง ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยครั้งนี้ใช้การศึกษาเอกสารงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการอบรมเลี้ยงดู รูปแบบการอบรมเลี้ยงดู วิถีชีวิตวัฒนธรรมและการลักษณะการเลี้ยงดู ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการอบรมเลี้ยงดูของชาวเขาเผ่าม้ง จากนั้นนำข้อมูลมากำหนดองค์ประกอบแบบแผนการอบรมเลี้ยงดูเด็ก พัฒนารูปแบบการอบรมเลี้ยงดูตามบริบทของชาวเขาเผ่าม้ง
ผลการวิจัยสามารถสรุปเป็นกรอบแนวคิดในการวิจัยโดยแบ่งออกเป็น 4 แบบแผน ได้แก่
1) แบบแผนการอบรมเลี้ยงดูแบบเอาใจใส่ คือ การให้เด็กมีอิสระตามวุฒิภาวะและพัฒนาการของเด็ก
2) แบบแผนการอบรมเลี้ยงดูแบบควบคุม คือ การวางกฎระเบียบที่เคร่งครัดเพื่อให้เด็กปฏิบัติตาม
3) แบบแผนการอบรมเลี้ยงดูแบบตามใจ คือ การให้เด็กทำในสิ่งต่าง ๆ ตามความต้องการของเด็กโดยไม่มีการกำหนดกฎระเบียบ และ 4) แบบแผนการอบรมเลี้ยงดูแบบทอดทิ้ง คือ การปล่อยปะละเลยหรือไม่ตอบสนองความต้องการของเด็กดูแลเอาใจใส่น้อยมาก ซึ่งเป็นแนวทางในการพัฒนาเครื่องมือในการวิเคราะห์แบบแผนการอบรมเลี้ยงดูเด็กของผู้ปกครองในกลุ่มชาวเขาเผ่าม้งต่อไป

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนากระบวนการเรียนรู้นอกระบบโรงเรียนแบบมีส่วนร่วมโดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐานเพื่อเสริมสร้างความสามารถด้านการจัดการความขัดแย้งเชิงสมานฉันท์สำหรับเยาวชนในชุมชนแออัด มีการดำเนินการวิจัย 4 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1) การสำรวจความต้องการของเยาวชนคู่ขัดแย้งและผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้อง และกำหนดกิจกรรมในการแก้ไขปัญหา 2) การดำเนินการตามกิจกรรมที่กำหนดไว้ 3) การตรวจสอบผลการแก้ไขปัญหา และ 4) การถอดบทเรียนเกี่ยวกับสิ่งที่ได้เรียนรู้ ผู้มีส่วนร่วมในงานวิจัยนี้ คือ เยาวชนคู่ขัดแย้ง 1 คู่ ผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับความขัดแย้ง 9 ท่าน และผู้นำชุมชน 6 ท่าน พื้นที่ในการศึกษาวิจัย คือ ชุมชนวัดโพธิ์เรียงและชุมชมวัดอัมพวา กรุงเทพมหานคร
ผลการวิจัย พบว่า เยาวชนคู่ขัดแย้งได้เรียนรู้เพื่อจัดการปัญหาของตนเอง โดยร่วมกับผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องในการคิด วางแผน ดำเนินการ และสรุปผล แล้วได้เปลี่ยนแปลงตนเอง ความขัดแย้งจึงระงับลงในที่สุด เมื่อสังเคราะห์กระบวนการ พบว่า อยู่บนความเชื่อพื้นฐาน คือ เยาวชนในชุมชนแออัดมีศักยภาพในการเรียนรู้เพื่อจัดการปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นด้วยตนเอง ประกอบด้วย 5 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1) การย้อนคิดย้อนทบทวน 2) การวางแผนอย่างสร้างสรรค์ 3) การสื่อสารอย่างเข้าใจ 4) การร่วมมือเพื่อเปลี่ยนแปลง และ 5) การสรุปสิ่งที่ได้จากการเรียนรู้ โดยมีปัจจัยในการนำ กระบวนการไปใช้ ได้แก่ ความพร้อมด้านผู้สนับสนุนสถานที่ อุปกรณ์ และเวลา

Evidence-based practice (EBP) in psychology requires use of clinical judgement to apply the best evidence to each client’s case (APA Presidential Taskforce on Evidence-Based Practice, 2006), but practitioners may not fully engage in EBP given low usage of evidence-based treatments or manuals (Becker et al., 2013; Johnson et al., 2016; Steir, Lasota, & Christensen, 2007). Significance: Re-excision rates for women with invasive breast cancer undergoing breast conserving surgery (or lumpectomy) have decreased in the past decade but remain substantial. This is mainly due to the inability to assess the entire surface of an excised lumpectomy specimen efficiently and accurately during surgery.

Aim: The goal of this study was to develop a deep-ultraviolet scanning fluorescence microscope (DUV-FSM) that can be used to accurately and rapidly detect cancer cells on the surface of excised breast tissue.

Treves et al. (2019) make a convincing case that conservation efforts need to go beyond an anthropocentric worldview. Implementing that vision, however, will require human advocates to represent nonhuman interests. Where will the knowledge of those interests come from? How can humans know what is in the best interest of another animal, a plant, or an ecosystem? We discuss how the values embedded in current scientific practices may be ill-suited to representing nonhuman interests and we offer some ideas for correcting these shortcomings.

I agree with Treves et al.’s proposal for a preservation ethics based on the principle that nonhuman well-being is a matter of justice and compassion. In this commentary, I advance two objections. First, only sentient beings, rather than all life, belong in the moral community. Second, given that nature is probably harmful overall for sentient individuals, preserving it for the benefit of future human and nonhuman generations requires us to modify it as far as practicable.

(2019) highlight what they consider soft forms of anthropocentrism in the practice and philosophy of conservation, e.g., when even professed non-anthropocentrists assert the precedence of human over nonhuman interests. I consider a few philosophical cases for maintaining human precedence, but ultimately offer a more psychological explanation: our explanations for why humans take precedence serve to reduce dissonance and discomfort, which arise because the norms and institutions of society often compel us to act in ways that violate our moral responsibilities to nonhuman beings.

Treves et al. (2019) propose a non-anthropocentric approach to conservation biology for the ‘just preservation’ of non-humans. Some of our current ways of ranking conservation efforts based on benefits to humans are indeed critically flawed, but we doubt that a completely non-anthropocentric approach is possible at this time. We propose a way to generate public support for those non-human species that may otherwise be overlooked in policy-making and conservation efforts.

Treves et al. argue for better representation of voiceless groups in current policy decisions. We agree with the argument but believe it will be challenging to convince enough people of its importance to change policy — especially those political groups who are not predisposed to agreeing with these kinds of arguments. We draw on the social psychology literature to recommend three principles for increasing the persuasiveness of the argument to the public: pre-suasion, framing, and tailoring for the audience. We apply these principles to make concrete recommendations for framing the argument to persuade the American political right.

Recently, two remarkable natural history films, My Octopus Teacher and The Octopus in My House have explored intimate human-octopus relationships with a wild (Octopus vulgaris) and a captive octopus (Octopus cyanea) respectively. The Lee’s Lane Landfill is located in western Louisville, KY along the Ohio River (Fig. 1) [1]. The site was used as a quarry in the 1940s before being repurposed as a landfill from 1948 to 1975 (Fig. 2). At least 212,400 tons of municipal and industrial waste were disposed of in the landfill during this period. In 1980, the Kentucky Department of Hazardous Materials and Waste Management discovered approximately 400 drums of hazardous waste within the landfill; these drums were removed by the landfill owners in the fall of 1981, but the remaining drums of non-hazardous material, as well …

This manuscript analyzes the public debate over legislation designed to mock and reject regulations of abortion in the United States. The bills, such as one in Texas requiring men to remain abstinent and avoid seminal discharge outside of narrow circumstances, are intentionally unworkable to critique Targeted Regulation of Abortion Provider (TRAP) laws, and laws regulating access to abortion in the US. I argue the bills are a form of Burkean burlesque, a novel strategy of humor and biting critique in the context of the US abortion debate. The Nile corridor and the Strait of Bab al-Mandab (the southern Red Sea) are commonly cited as the likely routes by which hominins dispersed out of East Africa (Van Peer 1998; Derricourt 2005; Beyin 2006). This chapter examines eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century visions of apocalypse regarding the future of black lives in the American body politic. It begins with readings of Jefferson’s fear of a black planet in Notes on the State of Virginia and Crèvecoeur’s depictions of racial terror in Letters from an American Farmer. The chapter then investigates the writing of an African American herald of the end times, Christopher MacPherson. The chapter reads the apocalyptic jeremiad of MacPherson’s pamphlet, Christ’s Millennium (1811), as a reparative response to the suppression of black voices and the annihilation of black lives.

This essay offers an intermediate discussion of select policy, strategic, operational, and tactical issues that demonstrate where and how the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s novel coronavirus response on the one hand, and homeland security frameworks and research on the other, converge or—more often so—diverge, and how to narrow this gap. Although typically framed as a pandemic owned by the public health sector, the COVID-19 response falls directly within the homeland security mission space, whose core missions include “Ensuring Resilience to Disasters.” In some respects, Pennsylvania’s response exemplifies best practices suggested by research. It is well known that student-athletes are more diverse and higher academic achievers, on average, than their collegiate peers. However, little research has explored the mentoring relationships of student-athletes who conduct undergraduate research. Unique challenges and opportunities exist for student-athletes and faculty when it comes to mentoring undergraduate research in fields like science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Using a collaborative autoethnographic methodological approach and apprenticeship theory, our personal narratives detail how an engineering professor mentored a former engineering student-athlete for undergraduate engineering education research. We offer several findings and recommendations.

The purpose of this research is to compare the results from two different computer programs of flow analyses of two levees at Port Arthur, Texas where rising water of a flood from Hurricane Ike occurred on the levees. The first program (Program 1) is a two-dimensional (2-D) transient finite element program that couples the conservation of mass flow equation with accompanying hydraulic boundary conditions with the conservation of force equations with accompanying x and y displacement and force boundary conditions, thus yielding total head, x displacement, and y displacement as unknowns at each finite element node.
