Objectives: Microvascular dysfunction in skeletal muscle is involved in metabolic and vascular diseases. Microvascular endothelial cells (MEC) are poorly characterized in the progression of associated diseases in part due to lack of availability of MEC from various animal models. The objective was to provide a fast, simple, and efficient method to isolate murine MEC derived from skeletal muscle. Methods: Dissected abdominal skeletal muscles from C57BL/6J mice at 8 - 12 weeks of age were enzymatically dissociated. Predicting Bulk-Scale Properties Of Pharmaceutical Powders From Their Particle-Scale Dimensionless Measures, Kuriakose T. Kunnath

Loose powder packing and flowability are both important bulk properties to consider in relation to pharmaceutical tablet and capsule manufacturing. These properties as well as cohesive powder agglomeration tendency impact the efficiency of various processes such as feeding, blending, conveying, and compaction, and could have an adverse effect on final drug product. Pharmaceutical powders are often milled to fine sizes (<100 gm) for dissolution improvements via increased available surface area. However, such particle size reductions lead to inadequate bulk powder properties due to high cohesion among the individual particles. Recent work has demonstrated the ability of nano-silica dry coating techniques to significantly decrease interparticle forces without changes in particle size. In this work, the ability to predict properties such as powder bed porosity, flowability, and particle agglomeration both before and after nano-silica dry coating is examined, along with assessment of the extent of property enhancements after dry coating. Previous studies have utilized empirical approaches to build property prediction models. However, such approaches lack physical fundamentals which dictate bulk powder behavior and would be unable to account for the effects of dry powder coating. Incorporation of physics can be done via computation of the granular Bond number, as is done in this study for a large dataset of commonly used pharmaceutical powders, with wide variations in particle size, shape, density, and surface roughness. Predictive capability of current Bond number models is investigated, reasons for outliers are elucidated, and amendments to improve prediction is attempted. Overall, the aim of this work is to expand generalizability of Bond number models to a wider variety of particles, and extend its use from single powders to multi-component mixtures. The major outcome of this work is the development of a predictive framework that is expected to simplify pharmaceutical dry powder formulation development, reduce required experimental testing, and provide quantifiable estimates to aid processing route decision making.

One of the ability estimation methods that is widely applied to the Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) algorithm is the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE). However, the maximum likelihood method has the disadvantage of being unable to find a solution to the ability estimation of test-takers when the test takers' scores do not have a pattern. If there are test takers who get either score of 0 or perfect score, then the abilities of test-takers are usually estimated using the step-size model. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan metakognitif siswa SMA kelas XI program IPA dalam memecahkan masalah matematika. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei yang melibatkan siswa SMA negeri di Kabupaten Kulon Progo dan Gunungkidul. Sampel penelitian adalah 160 siswa kelas XI program IPA yang berasal dari 6 sekolah yang mewakili tiga kategori capaian akademik siswa yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Objective: To investigate the prevalence ofBorrelia burgdorferi infection in ticks and ruminant hosts. Design: Cross sectional study. Animals: 739 Ixodes ticks, 110 camels, 120 sheep and 40 cattle. Procedures: All collected samples were tested by using nested PCR technique (nPCR) using OspA and flaB gene as the targets. Results: Out of 739 adult Ixodes ticks, 111 (15%) were infected, the highest rate was in A. variegatum (43.24%) followed by A. lepidum (30.63%) and B. annulatus (26.13%). This study provides empirical findings on regional disparity in infrastructural facilities in 23 districts/municipalities of Aceh Province and the impact of the disparity on the economic performance of Aceh Province, specifically on those of economic growth, poverty, and unemployment. The unit of analysis is the district level and the Infrastructure Development Index (IDI) is used as the variable computed by using the multivariate method. Regional disparity is measured by the Coefficient of Variation and the impact of IDI on the provinces economy is analyzed using the econometric model. Poverty alleviation has become the main priority program in most developing countries. This research empirically studies the correlation between public health spending, governance quality, and poverty alleviation in developing countries. The panel data were estimated via a random-effects (RE) model and robustness check using instrumental variables (IV) (two-stage least-squares [2SLS]) and first-difference generalized method of moments (GMM) because of the endogeneity problem. The results suggest that public health spending has a significant effect on reducing the poverty rate, and that countries with better governance tend to reduce poverty than countries with poor governance. Racial oppression in American democracy is older than America itself. While most existing scholarship focuses on the historical disenfranchisement of Black and Latinx voters, this Note tells the story of the voting rights of a smaller, but still noteworthy marginalized American community: Alaska Natives. By contextualizing the history of Alaska Native disenfranchisement within the broader national landscape, this Note seeks to illuminate the ways in which the Alaska Native experience is similar to, and unique from, the experiences of other marginalized American communities. This Comment documents the limited impact of Nick v. Bethel and proposes legislative and electoral reforms to increase enfranchisement among Alaska Natives. The Voting Rights Act (VRA) of 1965 made significant progress in protecting minority voting rights. In 2007, a federal district court interpreted the “historically unwritten” exemption in Section 203 of the VRA for the first time in Nick. While the court found Yup’ik to be historically unwritten, the court also reasoned that written translations of election materials should be prepared in order to ensure that oral translations were effective in accommodating voters. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan hasil belajar antara mahasiswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran Kalkulus menggunakan media Kahoot! dengan yang tidak menggunakan Kahoot! serta tingkat kesesuaian dari penggunaan media pembelajaran Kahoot!. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa baru Prodi Teknik Lingkungan Tahun Angkatan 2019/2020 sebanyak 82 orang dan Angkatan 2018/2019 sebanyak 40 orang. Digunakan t-test dan Wilcoxon test untuk menguji perbedaan signifikansi rata-rata dari dua grup yang saling bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kontribusi kompetensi guru matematika SMP terhadap prestasi belajar siswa. Kompetensi guru dikelompok­kan ke dalam empat ranah, yaitu kompetensi pedagogik, profesional, sosial, dan kepribadian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei. Data penelitian dikum­pulkan melalui angket, data sekunder hasil Ujian Kompetensi Guru (UKG) tahun 2015, dan nilai UAS siswa kelas VII tahun ajaran 2016/2017.
