Conservative Spine Surgery: The True "Minimally Invasive" Spine Surgery/Dharmendra Ganesan, Ganesan Dharmendra
Archival Material (2020s)
"Conservative spine surgery" is a concept or perhaps a philosophy that I coined after 12 years of practicing as a consultant neurosurgeon with a subspecialized interest in spinal neurosurgery. UM deals with a plethora of patients with spinal conditions, where degenerative spinal disorder (DSD) is the one most commonly diagnosed. In managing DSD, it is imperative to understand that the symptom of pain could emanate from various anatomical structures from the spine and its surrounding structures. It is also important to appreciate the natural history of these conditions as it is equally important, to be cognizant of the immediate, short …

The Anchor: 2020
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

An Experimental Evaluation Of Arts Field Trips, Heidi H. Erickson, Angela R. Watson, Jay P. Greene
Education Reform Faculty and Graduate Students Publications
This paper presents results of a multi-visit, longitudinal experiment on the academic and social-emotional effects of arts-based field trips. We randomly assign fourth and fifth grade students to receive arts-based field trips throughout the school year or to serve as a control. Treatment students express greater tolerance for people with different opinions and a desire to consume arts. Additionally, treatment students have fewer behavioral infractions, attend school more frequently, score higher on their end-of-grade exams, and receive higher course grades. Effects are strongest when students enter middle school. We find no effect on students’ desire to participate in the arts, …

The Confluence (2009-2020)
Shannan Mason uses the Lucas Place neighborhood as a case study to understand the early movement of wealthier St. Louisans to the outskirts of the city and their role in rejecting crowded urban sensibilities for expanded greenspace. This article won the Morrow Prize for the Best Student Paper on a Missouri Topic from the Missouri Conference on History in 2020.

Indian Classical Dance And The Development Of Cultural Identity In The Indian Diaspora, Madhavi Menon
Indian Classical Dance And The Development Of Cultural Identity In The Indian Diaspora, Madhavi Menon
Faculty Articles
Cultural identity can be broadly defined as a person’s self-view vis a vis their identity or perception of belonging to a larger group or collective. Cultural identity is hence focal to a person's identity and influences how they see themselves, as well as how they relate to the world. The development of cultural identity can be especially challenging for members of the Indian diaspora, who often traverse multiple cultures simultaneously. The current paper reviews dance ethnographic as well as experiential research to explore the links between engagement with Indian classical dance and the development of cultural identity in the Indian …

Review Of New Technologies And Methodologies For Eore In Challenging Contexts, Gichd
Global CWD Repository
This review examines promising new technologies and methodologies used for the delivery and monitoring of risk education interventions in response to three key challenges: risk education for improvised explosive devices, in urban complex environments, and in areas with limited to no accessibility. It highlights examples, good practices and emerging solutions in facing these challenges, both from within and outside the EORE sector, and builds on recent initiatives developed to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic. The publication was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Switzerland.

The Review Review
Years ago, maybe fifteen, or more, at a writing workshop in NYC, a guest editor from The New Yorker made the following statement. She said: I read the first line. If I like it, I read the second line. And, so on. Her statement shook my world.
