In 2020, toward the end of the spring semester, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted life across the globe. Institutions, including law schools, felt the widespread effects of this public health crisis. Law schools were forced to move entire curriculums online in record time and consider how they were going to administer final exams. There is no precedent or manual for how to do this successfully. Then, it explores related recent cases that also address a constitutional right to some level of education. This paper examines the racial wedge driven by Whites between Blacks and Asian Americans during the Cold War on to the present. Model minorities is a term coined by whites in the 1960s to suppress Civil Rights protests and Black demands. By elevating a minority group through success stories, whites constructed a means to suppress Black people’s organizing for change against systemic racism and oppression.

Environmental justice communities throughout the United States continue to face disproportionate health burdens from living near industrial sources of pollution. Such burdens were caused by historically racist public policies and continue to be perpetuated by inadequate regulatory responses at the federal and state level. State and federal law has increasingly recognized an emerging set of rights afforded to victims of crime in court proceedings. We argue that members of environmental justice communities should be viewed as crime victims and have the same rights applied as other victims of violent crime. The research objectives of this project were to update Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) 1999 Nebraska Accident Prediction Model for Highway-Rail Grade Crossings (HRGCs) and to develop guidelines using Lancaster County Nebraska HRGCs for improving safety at urban gated HRGCs that are not designated quiet zones but are in the vicinity of quiet zone crossings.

The goal of this project is to develop a UAV-based Arial thermographic method to detect and map the delamination on concrete bridge decks. Several image processing methods such as level-set and machine-learning were developed in this project. The developed method is high-efficient and low-cost and requires no-traffic-closure during the surveying process. The coring outcomes from four different concrete bride decks validated the performance of this developed method. The coring results suggested that this method outperformed several existing methods in detecting delamination in concrete bridge decks in terms of efficiency, accuracy, cost, and safety.

At the end of 2015, the government of Jakarta declared a river normalization program to widen both banks of the Ciliwung River and increase its channel capacity. Approximately 15 meters of inspection road was to be constructed immediately. To avoid eviction, 223 households in Kampung Anak Kali (KAKC) reduced their domestic spaces by shearing five meters off their houses, forcing them to allocate less space for daily activities, including cooking, bathing, and washing. However, the current acknowledgment practices and adat village formalizations have become areas of legal contestation between adat communities and state-national and local governments.
