Biomimicry: Function And Aesthetic Of Vacation Home, Chonburi, Suparuek Techaborikiti
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This thesis entitled 'BIOMIMICRY : FUNCTION AND AESTHETIC OF VACATION HOME IN CHONBURI' is an attempt to add an architectural element named fah lai (ฝาไหล literally translated as "flowing wall" popularly translated as "breathing wall") of Thai traditional house to the category of 'biomimicry'. This attempt is problematic because the term 'biomimicry' in architecture was invented in the 1990's much later than the Thai traditional houses. These two words, fa lai and biomimicry, belong to different cultures and different times. Moreover, the term 'biomimicry' itself has various interpretations. In this thesis, I will classify the uses of this word 'biomimicry' …
Representations Of The Body In British Science-Fiction Novels From The Late Nineteenth To The Early Twentieth Century: A Study Of Edward Bulwer-Lytton's The Coming Race, H.G. Wells' The Time Machine And Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, Kornnop Jaroenvong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Many critics have suggested that most of the non-human characters in late-Victorian British science-fiction novels reflect social alienation and the cultural fear of physical, mental and moral degeneration. However, by relying on the concept of critical posthumanism in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries that attempts to debunk anthropocentrism and emphasise the significance of non-human otherness, this thesis studies representations of the body in three British science-fiction novels: Edward Bulwer-Lytton's The Coming Race (1871), H.G. Wells' The Time Machine (1895) and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World (1932), which provide speculative visions of what humans will be in the future. It demonstrates …

Bisphoshonates (BPs) are widely used for treating osteoporosis, multiple myeloma, breast cancer, and bone metastasis cancer. Trauma or tooth extraction in patients treated with BPs can lead to MRONJ development because of its mechanism of action by which interferes bone homeostasis and angiogenesis. Once MRONJ has occurred, this hard-to-cure disease posed the risk of having poor quality of life to the patients. The application of miRNA for curing the diseases is now being of interest in medical field. Aiming at elucidating the role of miRNAs in the pathogenesis of MRONJ, a rat model was used in creating MRONJ and the …

Objective: To compare the esthetic score (using the Esthetic Sustainable Criteria) among titanium, zirconia and gold alloy abutments of single tooth implant in 5 years follow up. Mateirals and Methods: 24 patients who were treated with single anterior implant at Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University were recruited. There were 8 patients for each abutment material. Demographic data, biological parameters such as modified plaque index (mPI), modified sulcus bleeding index (mSBI), probing depth (PD), radiographic images (Periapical films and CBCT images) were collected. The esthetic score (gingival, prosthodontic and bone score) was evaluated according to the Esthetic Sustainable Criteria. The mean …
Comparative Gene Expression Analysis Of Human Dental Pulp Cells From Maxillary And Mandibular Teeth, Thira Faruangsaeng
Comparative Gene Expression Analysis Of Human Dental Pulp Cells From Maxillary And Mandibular Teeth, Thira Faruangsaeng
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Objective : Given the anatomical and locational differences between the maxillary and mandibular teeth, it is possible that there are differences in gene expression patterns of dental pulp cells within those teeth. This study evaluates and compares the gene expression profiles of the maxillary and mandibular human teeth with the aim of finding differences in gene expression patterns of dental pulp cells by RNA-Sequencing technique. Methods : The upper and lower premolar and molar teeth obtained from the same participant were employed. Two pairs of opposing premolar teeth and two pairs of opposing molar teeth were isolated, cultured, and subjected …
