Screening And Referring For Postpartum Depression In Pediatric Primary Care, Melissa Harkins Nov 2020

Screening And Referring For Postpartum Depression In Pediatric Primary Care, Melissa Harkins

Dissertations

Problem

Postpartum depression (PPD) can lead to increased risk of child abuse, delays in infant development, and increased medical costs (Earls et al., 2019). The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends all mothers of infants 0-6 months be screened for PPD during well-child visits. Despite these recommendations, many pediatric offices have no PPD screening process.

Methods

This quality improvement project utilized a standardized tool to screen mothers of infants 0-6 months for PPD during their infants’ well-child visits. Mothers who screened positive for PPD were offered referrals to treatment resources and given the opportunity to participate in two follow-up telephone …

Articles, Abstracts, and Reports

The Blm10/PA200 family of proteasome activators modulates the peptidase activity of the core particle (20S CP). They participate in opening the 20S CP gate, thus facilitating the degradation of unstructured proteins such as tau and Dnm1 in a ubiquitin- and ATP-independent manner. Furthermore, PA200 also participates in the degradation of acetylated histones. In our study, we use a combination of yeast and human cell systems to investigate the role of Blm10/PA200 in the degradation of N-terminal Huntingtin fragments (N-Htt). We demonstrate that the human PA200 binds to N-Htt. The loss of Blm10 in yeast or PA200 in human cells results …

Novel Small Rnas Expressed By Bartonella Bacilliformis Under Multiple Conditions Reveal Potential Mechanisms For Persistence In The Sand Fly Vector And Human Host, Shaun Wachter, Linda D. Hicks, Rahul Raghavan, Michael F. Minnick

Biology Faculty Publications and Presentations

Bartonella bacilliformis, the etiological agent of Carrión’s disease, is a Gram-negative, facultative intracellular alphaproteobacterium. Carrión’s disease is an emerging but neglected tropical illness endemic to Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador. B. bacilliformis is spread between humans through the bite of female phlebotomine sand flies. As a result, the pathogen encounters significant and repeated environmental shifts during its life cycle, including changes in pH and temperature. In most bacteria, small non-coding RNAs (sRNAs) serve as effectors that may post-transcriptionally regulate the stress response to such changes. However, sRNAs have not been characterized in B. bacilliformis, to date. We …

Recognition Via Morphological Features Of Tulip By The Algorithms For Calculating Estimates, Mirzayan Kamilov, Mirzaakbar Hudayberdiev

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

The paper discusses two problem, the firth, possibilities of improving the quality of the recognition algorithm based on partial precedent, by the original pre-training procedures. And second finding the optimal procedure for constructing improved results in some sense, the algorithms for calculating estimates. The peculiarity of this algorithm is that as precedents only such "anchor points" of a pattern that ensuring the following conditions are left: the distance from any point on the training set of i-th pattern to their nearest precedent is less than the distance to the nearest precedent of another pattern. This set of precedents provides unmistakable …

Life History, Biology, Fisheries, And Management For Six Lesser Known Species Of Hammerhead Sharks (Family: Sphyrnidae), Emma M. Brennan

All HCAS Student Capstones, Theses, and Dissertations

Historically, sharks were not considered to be of high commercial value due to low demand and modest catch rates in comparison to bony fishes. However, with recent heightened demand for shark products, their economic value has increased profoundly, which has led to overharvesting of many species. Sharks are considered as a K-selected species, which includes life history traits such as slow growth, late maturity, few offspring, and slow reproductive rates. Given the slow intrinsic rate of increased characteristic of most species of sharks, few species can support heavy fishing pressure and are vulnerable to drastic population declines as a result …

Approaches To Solving Problems Of Optimization Of Solving Monitoring Problems Based On Natural Computing Algorithms, D.T. Muhamediyeva

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

To find approximate optimization solutions, many algorithms are used, seven of which are considered in this work: fuzzy sets, artificial neural networks, genetic algorithm, ant algorithm, particle swarm algorithm, DNA computation, and a new approach based on artificial immune systems (IIS). All these methods belong to the direction of "natural computing", ie. model certain biological processes, the algorithms of which nature has created for millions of years. It should be noted that the efficiency of one or another algorithm depends on the characteristics of the initial data of the problem, so it is impossible to unambiguously determine which of the …

The Relationship Between Authentic Leadership And Resilience, Moderated By Coping Skills, Alice E. Stark Nov 2020

The Relationship Between Authentic Leadership And Resilience, Moderated By Coping Skills, Alice E. Stark

Industrial-Organizational Psychology Dissertations

Organizations with leaders high in authentic leadership behaviors tend to experience more positive outcomes both on an organizational level as well as on an individual level. One potential explanation for the positive outcomes is that authentic leadership enhances leader resilience in a positively linear fashion. However, other literature suggests that authenticity is not always beneficial for the leader and that, at high levels, it can even be detrimental as leaders become more transparent and convicted about their values and goals independent of the situation. One underlying reason for conflicting theories may be the coping skills that leaders use in combination …
