Impact In Hospitalization Of Mental Health Patients With Dual Diagnosis As It Pertains To Medicaid And Treatment With Mat Services, Amanda Akmentins
Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
Introduction
About 17.5 million Americans over the age of 18 have been diagnosed with a mental illness, and about 4 million of those individuals have also been diagnosed with a substance use disorder. Medicaid requirements made to those receiving Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services provide access to quality care to reduce re-hospitalization by focusing on behavioral changes and accountability. The purpose of this research was to analyze the impact of hospitalization rates to determine unmet needs and barriers to receiving treatment for those that have a dual diagnosis.
Methodology
The methodology was a literature review. Thirty-two sources were referenced for …

COVID-19 disrupted educational instruction which transitioned into remote learning and testing modes. Faculty adopted various platforms of remote learning, however, the students' perception of efficacy and adequacy remains unclear. Curriculum delivery transformation should be based on student feedback to align it with their needs and expectations. As remote learning evolves, it is important to identify perceptions from faculty and students. Our project might help improve and potentially enhance remote teaching and learning techniques.

Aim/Purpose This paper contributes to the scholarly literature on intersectionality and social injustice (invisibility, hypervisibility) in higher education and serves as a model for enacting doctoral education where research, theory, and practice converge. Background Invisibility and hypervisibility have long been documented as social injustices, but very little literature has documented how doctoral students (who are also university employees) make meaning of intersecting privileges and oppressions within post-secondary hierarchies. Methodology This study used a 10-week Duoethnography with co-researchers who were simultaneously doctoral students, staff, instructors, and administrators in higher education settings. Contribution This paper offers a unique glimpse into currere—the phenomenon …

BACKGROUND:Although home telemonitoring (TM) is a promising approach for patients managing their chronic disease, rehabilitation using home TM has not been tested for use with individuals living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) residing in underserved communities. OBJECTIVE:This study aimed to analyze qualitative data from focus groups with key stakeholders to ensure the acceptability and usability of the TM COPD intervention. METHODS:We utilized a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach to adapt a home TM COPD intervention to facilitate acceptability and feasibility in low-income African American and Hispanic patients. The study engaged community stakeholders in the process of modifying the intervention …

Gaining Administrative Support For Doctoral Programs In Counselor Education, Rebecca Scherer, Regina Moro, Tara Jungersen, Leslie Contos, Thomas A. Field
Counselor Education Faculty Publications and Presentations
Initiating and sustaining a counselor education and supervision doctoral program requires navigating institutions of higher education, which are complex systems. Using qualitative analysis, we explored 15 counselor educators’ experiences collaborating with university administrators to gain support for beginning and sustaining counselor education and supervision doctoral programs. Results indicate the need to understand political elements, economical aspects, and the identity of the proposed program. Limitations and areas for future research are presented.

Social Justice Education Framework: Examination Of An Integrated Model For Teaching And Evaluating Social Justice Education Through Historical Injustices, Amber D. Bell
Title III Professional Development Reports
Social justice continues to be emphasized within the social work profession as a central principle and value, often identified as the professional value that separates it from other human service professions. As varied as definitions of social justice are, so are approaches to effectively teaching about social justice within social work education across the curriculum (practice, research, HBSE, and policy). Equally absent are evidence based approaches to teaching social justice. In recent years, historical injustice and our societal lack of knowledge regarding it has been examined. Numerous studies have confirmed that the K-12 education system is grossly negligent in providing students …
Introducing Homeschooling Students To The Librarian Profession And Personality Types, Paul Mclaughlin
Introducing Homeschooling Students To The Librarian Profession And Personality Types, Paul Mclaughlin
Book Chapters
The librarian profession needs diversity in its membership to provide service to the variety of patrons who visit libraries and to have the array of skills needed for a library to succeed. Jaeger and Franklin (2017, 23–24) have encouraged the use of inclusive services and outreach programs that take advantage of the diversity inherent in the United States’ population to stir interest in the librarianship profession. Homeschooling students come from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds and rely on public libraries to gain access to curriculum materials, educational programming, and technology. Librarians can use outreach programs to introduce homeschoolers …
