In this research, a simple process using sulfuric acid (H2SO4) treatment has been developed to produce three types of cellulosic products from PALF, which are regenerated amorphous (RAC), microcrystalline (MCC), and nanocrystalline (NCC) cellulose. H2SO4 acid treatment has been done in 25% and 50% (v/v) H2SO4 under three different temperatures (-20, 30, and 50 ºC). In 25% (v/v) H2SO4, various MCC lengths (about 29.57 ± 9.99 to 106.40 ± 61.10 μm) were produced from different temperatures. Different temperatures in this …

Controlled Release Of Fibroin Repeat-Tagged Proteins From Silk Hydrogel, Jaturong Promsuk Jan 2020

Controlled Release Of Fibroin Repeat-Tagged Proteins From Silk Hydrogel, Jaturong Promsuk

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Protein-based biologic drugs such as growth factors are playing important roles in modern medicine. These proteins can be used to stimulate local tissue repair. Growth factors are often incorporated into a scaffold, such as a hydrogel, and then put into the desired area of the body to achieve therapeutic effects. However, diffusion of these growth factors outside of the designated area or inappropriate release time can have deleterious consequences, such as inducing tumors in other areas of the body or uncontrolled inflammation. Therefore, this project aims to create a model to study diffusion of protein from hydrogel by using green …

Drought Tolerant Gene Identification By Rice Genome Comparison And Gene Characterization In Arabidopsis Plant Model, Chutarat Punchkhon

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Abiotic stresses, especially drought and salt stresses can affect plant growth and productivity. 'Kao Dawk Mali 105' ('KDML105') rice is one of the crops which has to face both drought and salt stresses as it is grown in rain-fed saline soil in the northeastern region of Thailand, where the irrigation is limited. CSSL104, a chromosome substitution line with 'KDML105' genetic background, was developed in order to improve drought tolerant ability of 'KDML105' rice by transferring the drought tolerant (DT)-QTL region from double haploid line, DH103. Photosynthesis parameters of CSSL104 and its parental lines, 'KDML105' and DH103, were investigated, when they …

Recovery Of Isolated Pancreatic Isletsderived From Gut Leak-Induced Diabetes Type Ii Mouse Model, Adretta Soedarmanto Jan 2020

Recovery Of Isolated Pancreatic Isletsderived From Gut Leak-Induced Diabetes Type Ii Mouse Model, Adretta Soedarmanto

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Gut leak in the obese patient was known to be one of the predisposing factors causing diabetes type II. Indeed, the interleukin-10 (IL-10) plays a key role in gut mucosa homeostasis preventing the gut leak. Nevertheless, the linkage of diabetes type 2 caused by gut leak with IL-10 deficiency in the non-diabetes patient has not been investigated yet. Islets transplantation is known as the best alternative treatment for diabetes. The culture of isolated islets is still facing difficulties to preserve the morphology, viability, and functionality. Therefore, the present study was aiming to prove the concept of gut-leak on IL-10 deficient …
