A Survey Of Psychological Personality Classification Approaches, Mervat Ragab Bakry, Mona Mohamed Nasr, Fahad Kamal Al-Sheref

Future Computing and Informatics Journal

Online social networks (OSNs) have become essential ways for users to socially share information and feelings, communicate, and thoughts with others through online social networks. Online social networks such as Twitter and Facebook are some of the most common OSNs among users. Users’ behaviors on social networks aid researchers for detecting and understanding their online behaviors and personality traits. Personality detection is one of the new difficulties in social networks. Machine learning techniques are used to build models for understanding personality, detecting personality traits, and classifying users into different kinds through user generated content based on different features and measures …

Source Code Generation (SCG) is the sub-domain of the Automatic Programming (AP) that helps programmers to program using high-level abstraction. Recently, many researchers investigated many techniques to access SCG. The problem is to use the appropriate technique to generate the source code due to its purposes and the inputs. This paper introduces a review and an analysis related SCG techniques. Moreover, comparisons are presented for: techniques mapping, Natural Language Processing (NLP), knowledge base, ontology, Specification Configuration Template (SCT) model and deep learning

A total of 113 currently practicing educational diagnosticians in Texas responded to a 28-item survey based on the CEC standards for educational diagnosticians. Participants reported being less prepared to meet standards related to collaboration, vocational and assessment measures, behavior assessment measures, and language assessment measures. Diagnosticians working in urban school districts reported lower levels of preparation as compared to those working …

In Memoriam: Ed Bruner, Michael A. Di Giovine Sep 2020

In Memoriam: Ed Bruner, Michael A. Di Giovine

Anthropology & Sociology Faculty Publications

Edward M. Bruner
September 28, 1924 – August 7, 2020

Last month, our community—and indeed the world—lost a shining light in contemporary anthropology. On August 7, 2020, the humanistic anthropologist Edward Bruner passed away peacefully at his home. He would have been 96 today. This is a significant loss for the ATIG community, as Bruner made important contributions to the study of tourism and heritage—problematizing authenticity and host-guest interactions in the touristic “borderzone;” introducing post-modern constructivism to tourism analysis, and emphasizing narrative, experience, and interpretation in ethnographic research. The compilation of his tourism-focused essays, Culture on Tour, is a …

The European Court Of Justice At Work: Comparative Law On Stage And Behind The Scenes, Michele Graziadei Sep 2020

The European Court Of Justice At Work: Comparative Law On Stage And Behind The Scenes, Michele Graziadei

Journal of Civil Law Studies

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has often been hailed as an engine of European integration. Entrusted with the task of securing the uniform interpretation of the law of the European Union—among other functions—the ECJ makes use of comparative law for a variety of purposes. The very composition of the Court and its peculiar linguistic regime make the Court a major comparative law laboratory. Under the Treaties, the Court is explicitly authorised to resort to comparative law as a method of judicial interpretation with regard to certain aspects of European law. But comparative law is an essential tool for the …

We examined perspectives that prospective elementary teachers (PTs) noticed their mentor teachers held with regards to classifying students by achievement or behavior. Many PTs noticed deficit mathematical discourse and expressed concern about how that could lead students to develop negative views of themselves.

User Feedback In Controllable And Explainable Social Recommender Systems: A Linguistic Analysis, Chun-Hua Tsai, Peter Brusilovsky Sep 2020

User Feedback In Controllable And Explainable Social Recommender Systems: A Linguistic Analysis, Chun-Hua Tsai, Peter Brusilovsky

Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis Faculty Publications

Controllable and explainable intelligent user interfaces have been used to provide transparent recommendations. Many researchers have explored interfaces that support user control and provide explanations of the recommendation process and models. To extend the works to real-world decision-making scenarios, we need to understand further the users’ mental models of the enhanced system components. In this paper, we make a step in this direction by investigating a free form feedback left by users of social recommender systems to specify the reasons of selecting prompted social recommendations. With a user study involving 50 subjects (N=50), we present the linguistic changes in using …

An Examination Of Optimal Level Of Ceo Narcissism: Why, How, And When Narcissism Impacts Firm Performance, Scott Boswell Sep 2020

An Examination Of Optimal Level Of Ceo Narcissism: Why, How, And When Narcissism Impacts Firm Performance, Scott Boswell

Dissertations

Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) may have narcissistic tendencies that impact the firm and its performance. We explore the definition of narcissism, how it is measured, and when it might be optimal or harmful to the firm’s performance. Leaders exhibiting higher scores on one or more Dark Triad traits often are viewed negatively both inside and outside the firm. Should such negative perceptions disqualify a leader who displays a measure of a Dark Triad trait? This research answers the primary question, is there an optimal level of CEO narcissistic traits and if so, are there moderating factors that impact the level? …

Variation In Female And Male Dialogue In Buffy The Vampire Slayer: A Multi-Dimensional Analysis, Amber Morgan Sanchez Sep 2020

Variation In Female And Male Dialogue In Buffy The Vampire Slayer: A Multi-Dimensional Analysis, Amber Morgan Sanchez

Dissertations and Theses

Media representations of gender often reflect normative societal beliefs about gender and have the ability to both reinforce and subvert those beliefs. The current study examines the linguistic characterization of male and female characters on the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a series with an overt feminist message. Previous studies of gender variation in dramatic dialogue have found that female characters tend to be portrayed as using more linguistic features associated with an interpersonal and emotional focus (involvement), while male characters are portrayed as using more features centered on the transfer of information. Previous research has also found …

Editing My Own Drum, Adrienne Adams Sep 2020

Editing My Own Drum, Adrienne Adams

Artizein: Arts and Teaching Journal

The author examines her art and poetry practice exploring how the "Badlands" of Alberta, Canada in particular Áísínai'pi (Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park), are "the bones of the earth". She looks at the visual and linguistic poetry within them and examines her wording to decolonize her practice and learning/unlearning from the land and the cultures; Blackfoot and Settler, and peoples that inhabit it. She highlights how her process of editing a specific poem “My Own Drum” prompted and echoes an examination of her practice that leads to the writing of a new poem written during this process, revealing some of her findings. …

Conversations With Each Other: Love Songs To The Earth, Adrian M. Downey, Gonen Sagy Sep 2020

Conversations With Each Other: Love Songs To The Earth, Adrian M. Downey, Gonen Sagy

Artizein: Arts and Teaching Journal

Conversation is a complicated, ever-changing, and dynamic space—a space which is foundational to both education and curriculum, broadly conceived. In this article, we continue our ongoing conversion through the notion of writing love songs to the Earth and to each other. Within the conversation, Gonen shares original poetry emergent from his lived experiences, while Adrian attends to Gonen’s poetry in prosaic response. In this, the socio-political moment of the Canadian movement toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, we view our relationship and our conversations as speaking back to the competitive languages of diasporic space and Indigenous place through an …

Lessons From Birds, Bones, And The Body, Alexandra Fidyk, Darlene St.Georges Sep 2020

Lessons From Birds, Bones, And The Body, Alexandra Fidyk, Darlene St.Georges

Artizein: Arts and Teaching Journal

Written as a layered pictorial script, three images—Owl, Raven, and Hummingbird—beckoned the authors. Together, they explored neglected epistemologies in many disciplines within education, the arts and humanities to deepen their understanding of what it means to live in caring relation with an animated world. By tracking the Birds’ lineages and kinships through active imagination, amplification, and circumambulation, concealed patterns and associations reveal lessons for living more consciously with repressed and expressed feminine/androgyne energies. To be more conscious of both aids in the unfolding processes central to becoming, undoing, creativity, and pedagogy. Herein an ethical challenge arises: how might we honour …

In this mixed media métissage, we offer an exploration of artful and contemplative inquiry and response. We are a group of seven artist-researchers who engage with contemplative practices associated with various spiritual traditions, including spiritual feminist, Wiccan, Mi’kmaw, and Tibetan Buddhist, integral to all of which are beliefs about human interconnectedness with the energies of all sentient beings, the Earth, and beings in the spirit worlds. As artist-researchers, we engage with a range of arts disciplines including poetry, creative non-fiction, storytelling, sounding, visual art, filmmaking, and photography. Together, we invite the reader/listener/viewer--as co-creator—into the potentialities of our métissage: the narratives, …
