Radiotherapy is the standard treatment of head and neck cancer (HNC). The radiation may affect on normal tissue and surrounding salivary gland resulting to xerostomia. Treatment of radiation-related xerostomia focuses on relieving symptoms by using saliva substitutes or saliva stimulants. Because the salivary stimulants have significant side effects, such as sweating, dizziness or increasing urge to urinate, saliva substitutes are preferable. Trehalose solution has been suggested for improve moisture in dry mouth condition and can be used as saliva substitute. This study aimed to examine the differences in mechanical and physical properties of Ti-6Al-4V extra low interstitial (ELI) fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) between different laser power. The Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy samples were printed in dumbbell shape by SLM machine (Trumpf/TruPrint 1000, Germany) with 3 laser powers (75, 100 and 125 W), 8 samples for each group. This clinical study aims to determine differences in lipstick stains between ceramic veneers and natural teeth. Types of lipsticks affected lipstick stains on ceramic veneers and natural teeth were also investigated. A total of 30 patients were divided into two groups: ceramic-veneer (CV) group and natural-teeth (NT) group with 15 patients in each group. Endodontic failures are mainly caused by persistence of microorganisms in the root canal system. Enterococcus faecalis has been reported as the most commonly isolated species from root canals with endodontic treatment failure in many studies, but was not the dominant species in others. Recent studies showed that Candida albicans is found together with Enterococcus faecalis within infected root canals in a polymicrobial community and both species can form biofilm. The purpose of this study was to compare patient-reported outcome measures including post-operative pain, swelling, patient's expectation and satisfaction among 3 techniques of dental implant placement including a) conventional freehand, b) dynamic, and c) static Computer-Aided Implant Surgery. Ninety patients were randomly assigned to receive dental implant placement with one of the 3 protocols. Participants were asked to fill in a series of self-administered questionnaires assessing 1) pre-operative expectations, 2) post-operative healing events during the first week after surgery, and 3) overall satisfaction with the procedures at two weeks. The objective of this study is to clarify the effect of endothelin-1 on COX-2 mRNA expression and PGE2 production from human periodontal ligament fibroblasts. Effect of various concentration of ET-1 on cell viability of primary human periodontal ligament fibroblasts was determined by an MTT assay. Then, primary human periodontal ligament fibroblasts were treated with 10 pM ET-1 for 0.5, 1, 2, 4 hours to investigate the time-course effect. The purpose of this experimental study was to evaluate wear characteristics and retention force of the RetenDent mini-implant overdenture system (Chulalongkorn product) after the insertion-removal fatigue test. One-piece mini-implants attachment system for overdenture, Osstem MS denture® type implant (OSSTEM, Germany GmbH), and RetenDent mini-implant were tested. All samples were subjected to repeated insertion and removal fatigue cycles by the universal testing machine (E1000, INSTRON Instrument, England). This study evaluated the effect of ultrasonic treatment and surface treatments on transverse strength of denture bases which relined with auto-polymerizing acrylic resin. The study groups, ninety heat-polymerized acrylic resins (64×10×2 mm) were divided by three surface treatments: no surface treatment (N), applied MMA for 180 seconds (MM), applied MF-MA for 15 seconds (MF). The objective of the study was to estimate the relative technical efficiency of public hospitals in PNG and estimate the magnitudes of output increases and/or input reductions that would have been required to make relatively inefficient hospitals more efficient using Data Envelopment Analysis for 20 hospitals in PNG using the data for 2017. The study is further extended using the Tobit regression analysis to investigate the institutional and contextual factors on hospital efficiencies. This thesis studies the impact of factors influencing ex-prisoners' labour market re-entry. It is separated into three studies. The first study evaluates the effect of beauty premiums from cosmetic surgery on male ex-prisoners under asymmetric information settings where employers are unaware of candidates' criminal history. Using a Choice Experiment approach (CEs), the beauty from cosmetic surgery performs as the signal submitted to 400 employers. The results show that the beauty from cosmetic surgery associates with the increase of possibility of candidates in the experiments being chosen by 3.05 and 1.54 times, in the formal and informal sector, respectively. This thesis research comprises three studies, each of which investigates the inequality of income and wealth in Thailand from 1996 to 2017 and the impact of personal income tax and taxes on real estate on that inequality. Shorrocks Index decomposition technique is applied to examine the key drivers of inequality in the country in the first two studies. In the third study, the analysis is developed under the Heckman Selection Model to estimate the effect of personal income tax policy reform on the individual. This research aimed to study the effect of different catalyst structures to the hydrogen production process with glycerol steam reforming in packed bed reactors via the COMSOL Multiphysics program. 2D pseudo-homogeneous steady-state model of a 6-inch diameter adiabatic reactor has been developed to describe a transport phenomenon inside the packed bed reactors with two different catalyst structures of conventional 1-inch pellet catalyst and 10-30PPI foam catalyst. The simulated results show that the novel foam catalyst improved the process performance in terms of pressure drop and hydrogen yield comparing to the conventional 1-inch pellet catalyst.
