Public Health Spending, Governance Quality And Poverty Alleviation, Mohamad Komarudin
Public Health Spending, Governance Quality And Poverty Alleviation, Mohamad Komarudin
Economics and Finance in Indonesia
Poverty alleviation has become the main priority program in most developing countries. This research empirically studies the correlation between public health spending, governance quality, and poverty alleviation in developing countries. The panel data were estimated via a random-effects (RE) model and robustness check using instrumental variables (IV) (two-stage least-squares [2SLS]) and first-difference generalized method of moments (GMM) because of the endogeneity problem. The results suggest that public health spending has a significant effect on reducing the poverty rate, and that countries with better governance tend to reduce poverty than countries with poor governance. Increasing public health spending by one percentage …

Unlocking The Ballot: The Past, Present, And Future Of Alaska Native Voting Rights, Zachary R. Kaplan
Alaska Law Review
Racial oppression in American democracy is older than America itself. While most existing scholarship focuses on the historical disenfranchisement of Black and Latinx voters, this Note tells the story of the voting rights of a smaller, but still noteworthy marginalized American community: Alaska Natives. By contextualizing the history of Alaska Native disenfranchisement within the broader national landscape, this Note seeks to illuminate the ways in which the Alaska Native experience is similar to, and unique from, the experiences of other marginalized American communities. Although this history and present are rife with troubling discrimination, inequity, and non-compliance, this Note is ultimately …

Using Network Analysis For Rapid, Transparent, And Rigorous Thematic Analysis: A Case Study Of Online Distance Learning, Yosep Dwi Kristanto, Russasmita Sri Padmi
Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan
In thematic analysis, themes construction can be performed manually by the researcher or automatically by a computer. Both methods have strengths and weaknesses. This article introduces a strategy that involves the role of both researcher and computer to construct themes from qualitative data in a rapid, transparent, and rigorous manner. The strategy uses network analysis and is demonstrated by employing a case study on students' perceptions of online distance learning they experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The themes-construction strategy consists of four systematic phases, namely (1) determining unit of analysis and coding; (2) constructing the code co-occurrence matrix; (3) conducting …

Economics and Finance in Indonesia
Fertility control has been one of the priorities of development in Indonesia. However, the 2000 and 2010 population censuses showed an increase in fertility indicators. To identify the sources of increased fertility in developed and less developed areas, DKI Jakarta and East Nusa Tenggara Provinces were selected for comparison. Using 2000 and 2010 census data, the decomposition analysis shows that the increase in Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of DKI Jakarta was dominated by the increase in nuptiality rate, while the increase in TFR of East Nusa Tenggara was mainly caused by the increase in Marital Fertility Rate (MFR). This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the effect between the Problem-Based Learning model using Peer assessment and the Problem-Based Learning model on student competencies. The study used a quantitative experimental approach at SMK Negeri 1 Sragen in class XI AK 4 as a control class and XI AK 5 as an experimental class. The population involved all XI Accounting class students totaling 160 students, while the sample consisted of 64 students divided into the experimental class and the control class. The results showed that the first hypothesis obtained Fcount data>Ftable or 5.214> 2.760 and sig values. 0.026 <0.05, then Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted. Learning using the Problem-Based Learning model with Peer Assessment has an average value of 83.78, higher than the average value of the Problem-Based Learning model that is equal to 81.53. This study concludes that there are differences in the effect between the control class and the experimental class on student competence. The experimental class using the Problem-Based Learning Model using Peer Assessment is more effective than the control class using the Problem-Based Learning model.

Rasch model is a method that has a long history in its application in the fields of social and behavioral sciences, including educational measurement. Under certain circumstances, Rasch models are known as a special case of Item response theory (IRT), while IRT is equivalent to the Item Factor Analysis (IFA) models as a special case of Structural Equation Models (SEM), although there are other 'tradition' that consider Rasch measurement models not part of both. In this study, a simulation study was conducted using simulated data to explain how the interrelationships between the Rasch model as a constraint version of 2-parameter …

Sebanyak 15 …

Environmental Protection, The Military, And Preserving The Balance: “Why It Matters, In War And Peace”, Kurt Smith
Seattle Journal of Technology, Environmental, & Innovation Law
International military operations around the world are major actors on the world stage of global pollution. The United States military remains subject to federal, state, and local environmental laws. However, many exemptions exist to assist the military despite its status as a global polluter. Many environmental policies have incrementally developed over the last one-hundred years largely as a reaction to the most extreme circumstances. Scientific knowledge continues to increase our awareness of the lasting impacts of policy decisions relating to the environment, giving rise to the precautionary principle, that notion that we should do no lasting harm, in our care …
