Mercer Law Review
This Article surveys developments in Georgia real property law between June 1, 2019, and May 31, 2020. Of course, the Survey became significantly different from previous years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Supreme Court of Georgia issued emergency rules and procedures resulting in the shutdown of many courts and most assuredly the slowdown of every court. Nevertheless, the Survey is the result of a review of appellate court decisions rendered during the survey period as well as legislation and other mandates promulgated during the period which affects real property law and practice.

Public Affairs Dissertations - Archive
Trumpism has come to mean different things to different people. This dissertation explores whether Trumpism is an extreme form of New Public Management, privileging values of efficiency and effectiveness, in public policy and public administration, to the exclusion of the value of social equity. Fairclough & Fairclough’s (2012) political discourse analysis method is applied to Trump’s immigration policy to enact merit-based immigration and to his housing policy to eliminate the Community Development Block Grant program. Using Fairclough & Fairclough’s (2012) political discourse analysis method consisting of argumentation theory and critical discourse analysis, along with Frederickson’s “Compound Theory of Social Equity” …

Stochastic Risk Measures For The Lundberg Model With Reinsurance And Investment, Benie Justine N'Gozan
Mathematics Dissertations - Archive
Risk measures emerge in fields such as economics, insurance, finance and are concerned with a stochastic representation of uncertainties stemming from the unpredictability of the real world events. In essence, risk analysis amounts to quantifying the chances of undesirable events and developing a model that limits the impact of potential losses. Assets and liabilities in the Insurance industry, as well as financial goals of Investment companies rely on calculating the probability that their respective portfolios satisfy the preset constraints. On the flip side, risk measures serve both industries by providing optimal strategies for minimizing losses. Our research is concerned with …

The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) presents open questions in how we clinically diagnose and assess disease course. Recently, chest computed tomography (CT) has shown utility for COVID-19 diagnosis. In this study, we developed Deep COVID DeteCT (DCD), a deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) that uses the entire chest CT volume to automatically predict COVID-19 (COVID+) from non-COVID-19 (COVID−) pneumonia and normal controls. We discuss training strategies and differences in performance across 13 international institutions and 8 countries. The inclusion of non-China sites in training significantly improved classification performance with area under the curve (AUCs) and accuracies above 0.8 on …

Senior Woman Administrators' Perceptions And Experiences Of Women Serving In Leadership Positions In Conference Offices, Kelly Patricia Elliott, Tim Kellison
Journal of Applied Sport Management
NCAA conference office Senior Woman Administrators (SWAs) were surveyed to gain their perspective on the gender disparity reported in intercollegiate athletics. The perceptions offered by the SWAs indicate the need for NCAA conference offices to implement professional development programming for women aimed at increasing management skills, developing best practice guidelines for including SWAs in athletic administration, and establishing mentor programs for women working on member institution campuses. Additionally, the results indicate directors of athletics need to create more meaningful opportunities for women to participate in decision making and include SWAs in meetings with coaches and other staff members.

The Way Of The Fight: An Analysis Of Mma Judging, Todd Feldman
The Way Of The Fight: An Analysis Of Mma Judging, Todd Feldman
Journal of Applied Sport Management
Judging is a controversial but rarely studied topic in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Most MMA scholarship focuses on health (e.g., head trauma) and training (e.g., dieting, strength, and conditioning), with relatively few exploring matters of judging even though judging is of considerable importance to the appeal and integrity of the sport. Thus, the purpose of this study is to fill this research void by analyzing data on MMA judging decisions to determine if MMA judging follows the criteria approved by the ABC MMA Rules Committee. To evaluate MMA judging, FightMetric data were gathered from a period spanning November 17, 2000 …

An Investigation Of Processes Linking Patient-Centered Communication Approaches To Favorable Impressions Of Vietnamese Physicians And Hospital Services, Christopher Mckinley, Yam Limbu, Long Pham
College of Communication and Media Scholarship and Creative Works
Strong doctor-patient relationships generate greater patient satisfaction and compliance with physician recommendations. Although prior research has explored distinct factors driving favorable patient outcomes, investigations have yet to comprehensively address the efficacy of different communication styles. Furthermore, it is critical to explore the full impact communication approaches have on perceptions of medical services. This investigation addressed two patient-centered communication approaches – empathy and nonverbal immediacy – as antecedents to Vietnamese patients’ impressions of physicians and hospital services. Results showed that these two factors were powerful, independent predictors of satisfaction and trust. Conversely, patient participation was a less robust predictor of judgments …

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology
The driver’s seat is a vital element in any car, but it is also a sophisticated system with several parts, adjustments, and safety features. A poorly built driving seat has an impact on the driver’s health and mental state. The three important goals for any driver seat are the safety of the driver, comfort, and health. Despite the availability of several technologies, the car seating sector has had little success in quantifying comfort. Iteration’s time and cost may be justified if the procedure was assured to result in a comfortable seat. This study emphasizes the value of using the overall …
