In Nigeria, skin bleaching, a practice that can create significant health problems, represents a persistent social issue. The behavior has become widespread due to unfettered access to various brands of bleaching creams. College algebra, a gateway course, has had the lowest passing rate for students of any freshman course. While research exists on the implementation of quantitative reasoning at 4-year institutions, little understanding exists on whether different mathematical pathways predict non-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (non-STEM) student mathematics success indicators. Treatments for posttraumatic stress have remained largely static for 3 decades, resulting in low recovery rates, high degrees of retrogression, and noncompliance by patients, calling for new approaches for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment. This qualitative phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of people with PTSD who participate in Desktop Virtual Reality Environments (DVREs). The research questions asked about the lived experiences of adults with PTSD who use the DVRE, and what they perceive as changes in their narratives about PTSD through their use of the DVRE. Animal-assisted activity (AAA) programs support various mental health or health-related concerns. Little research has studied why individuals are motivated to volunteer in animal-assisted therapy programs; no studies have addressed what motivational factors influence individuals to become an AAA volunteer. This quantitative investigation used functional motivational theory and attachment theory to uncover the motivations of these volunteers. Sepsis is the most common cause of death in burn patients. Optimal recovery from sepsis requires early recognition and prompt treatment. When sepsis is suspected or detected, the 2016 Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines endorse immediate initiation of the Hour-1 Sepsis Bundle. Unfortunately, a random audit of hospital system compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services sepsis core measure was less than 50%. A 2019 performance improvement project uncovered delays in antibiotic administration, and a search of scientific and burn center literature did not elucidate a course that educated burn intensive care nurses about sepsis. Omnivores often respond negatively when friends, family members, or romantic partners disclose adoption of a vegetarian/vegan diet. Examining the beliefs behind these negative responses could result in improved relationships between omnivores and vegetarians. This study examined whether the beliefs omnivores hold to justify meat-eating are related to relationship closeness. The theory of planned behavior provided a foundation with which to examine the attitudes omnivores have about meat consumption. Three aspects of college student perception of the police covered in this study are effectiveness, fairness, and legitimacy. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cancer diagnosis in the United States, and second in Ohio, for both men and women. In 2019, there were an estimated 145,000 cases of new CRC diagnoses and will lead to more than 50,000 deaths. Results from a systematic review indicate that chlorpyrifos use in agriculture is linked to the incidence of breast and lung cancers and has a possible association with CRC. This phenomenological qualitative study aimed to explore the impacts of workplace loneliness on senior leaders of various criminal justice organizations. The theoretical framework used was Descartes' views of the self-concept theory, which explained how individuals defined and described themselves within a social context. Using purposive sampling and semistructured telephone, and email interviews of 16 criminal justice senior leaders from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, this research was conducted to answer the overarching question of this study.
