The purpose of this study with second grade students in a mid-sized city in the Northwest was to examine an equity-based STEM teaching practice and design process that builds on student's voice in the context of an elementary school. Teaching practice innovations were designed using a participatory process drawing on student voice and experience, culturally responsive pedagogy, STEM content, and teaching practices. The students collaborated with the teacher to design and enact equity-based STEM teaching practice innovations and gave necessary and appropriate feedback regarding its efficacy in creating equitable and empowering learning experiences from their own perspective. Identity has been theorized to aid in student persistence toward science, engineering, technology, and math (STEM) degrees. However, before we can explore the impacts of learning environments on identity, and subsequently persistence, robust measures that can aid in understanding how identity is fostered need to be available. This research study aims to create measures of identity by expanding an existing physics identity framework and contextualizing it to science and chemistry identities. Development of the measures was carried out through two distinct phases that provided evidence for reliability and multiple aspects of validity.

In this paper I examine my thesis body of work, Inspecting Traditions. This paper illuminates my process of making Jewish objects through the use of digital fabrication techniques. The work in Inspecting Traditions uses historically Jewish forms as a lens in which to speak about the history of ceramics and its relationship to 21st century technology. This work developed a dialogue between the historical sources and modern technology by using 3D printing to create vessels.

Contemporary governments all over the world are investing in finding new e-service provision approaches as well as improving their existing channels to be matched with citizen’s needs and hence increase citizens’ satisfaction. Citizens’ satisfaction is considered as a prerequisite to e-government adoption, usage and diffusion. This research aims at studying the impact of system quality, information quality, trust, and privacy on Jordanian citizens’ satisfaction with e-government services. The study shows that all the identified factors in the proposed research model would have an impact on Jordanian citizens’ satisfaction with e-government services.

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى الكشف عن درجة تضمين كتاب تاريخ الأردن للصف الثاني الثانوي للقضايا المعاصرة. تكونت عينة الدراسة من كتاب تاريخ الأردن المقرر من قبل وزارة التربية والتعليم للعام الدراسي (2016/2017). وقد قامت الباحثة ببناء أداة لتحليل محتوى كتاب تاريخ الأردن تتضمن بعض القضايا المعاصرة ضمن أربعة مجالات، هي: المواطنة، والتعصب، والحرية السياسية، والإرهاب، وجرى التأكد من صدقها، كما بلغ معامل ثباتها (0.82)، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن تكرار القضايا المعاصرة في كتاب تاريخ الأردن للصف الثاني الثانوي قد بلغت (652) تكرارًا، توزعت كما يأتي: قضايا المواطنة (383) تكرارًا وبنسبة بلغت (58.74)، وقضايا التعصب (113) تكرارًا بنسبة مقدارها (17.33)، وقضايا …

Proposed herein is a technique that introduces a novel mechanism to increase the effectiveness of new drivers by providing real-time alerts that can be generated by comparing a new driver’s attention level with an attention level inferred from a group of good drivers that have safely driven different segments of the new driver’s current journey path. Techniques described herein augment packet tagging Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDOS) mitigation solutions with a powerful anti-spoofing capability. A Segment Routing over Internet Protocol (IP) version 6 (SRv6) network programming technique is proposed herein wherein authenticated sessions are given an SRv6 header to append to all outbound packets. Traffic with the valid SRv6 header is allowed to pass thru the service provider network whereas all other traffic destined to the victim of the DDOS attack is dropped. This article explores a new Introduction to Archives class taught to undergraduates through a Library and Information Science Minor Program offered by the James E. Brooks Library at Central Washington University (CWU). The course is taught by the University Archivist. The challenges of recruiting students, promotion of the course, and teaching an upper level course to undergraduates from different disciplines is described, as well as the benefits of offering this type of course at the undergraduate level. A review of the literature on the benefits of educating undergraduates on archives and archival research is also included.

Postfeminism is a slippery, contested, ambivalent, and inherently contradictory term – deployed alternately as an “empowering” identity label and critical theoretical lens. Troubling notions about the past, present, and future of feminism, postfeminism challenges feminist theory. This essay scrutinizes cultural and theoretical themes informing postfeminist discourses. I identify four prevailing themes in extant literature: postfeminist oblivion, self-empowerment, criticality, and feminine pride. I then examine the public discourse and self-asserted postfeminist stance of Kellyanne Conway, former campaign manager and current counselor to President Trump. Conway advocates for an individualistic, depoliticized femininity. I argue that her complacent misogyny bolsters the bizarre imaginary …

Women of color with disabilities, in particular, still struggle to challenge their positionality on the margins due to multifaceted layers of oppression, ranging from sexism, racism, classism, and ableism as further complexities of identity. This paper presents an ideographic, rhetorical analysis of the identity rhetoric presented by the nation’s largest nonprofit organization, the YMCA—an area rather understudied in organizational communication and qualitative research. This analysis explores the rhetorical approaches taken by nonprofit organizations, and the YMCA specifically, in attempting to build and communicate identity to communities in which they belong. Specifically, I analyze the organization’s identity-building rhetoric through the use of both textual and visual ideographs in a variety of artifacts to determine whether or not these strategies are effective.

This essay challenges textual dominance in academia by using music composition and performance as a method and representation of inquiry. I argue that this is a form of tactical resistance since it plays within the system, meeting requirements but challenging expectations. The resulting text from the project satisfies academic requirements for a written text, but subverts expectations as to the form that text should take.
