Gender Differences In Opioid Prescribing Patterns Among Adults In The Us, Salena Marie Preciado
Pharmaceutical Sciences (MS) Theses
This project aims to evaluate gender differences in opioid prescribing in ambulatory care and emergency department settings. The retrospective analysis of opioid prescribing rates in the US included all adult medical visits from 2006-2016. Data was collected from two nationally representative surveys, The National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) and the National Hospital and Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS). Eligible patients were at least 18 years old on the date of the visit. Bivariate and multivariate analysis were used to identify factors associated with opioid prescribing.
Rates of opioid prescribing increased for both men and women over the study period. …

Differential Evolution Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization For Parameter Estimation Of Fractional-Order Chaotic System, Dong Ze, Ma Ning
Differential Evolution Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization For Parameter Estimation Of Fractional-Order Chaotic System, Dong Ze, Ma Ning
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In order to accurately estimate the unknown parameters for fractional order chaotic systems, a quantum particle swarm optimization algorithm based on differential quantum properties is proposed. On the basis of quantum behaved particle swarm optimization, variation, crossover and selection operation are utilized by particles, which can better keep the diversity of the particles in the population, avoiding the local optimum in the later phase of the iteration. The multi-neighborhood local search strategy is used for particles’ local search to improve search precision. Standard test functions are used to test the algorithm, and the test results show that the …

Modeling Of Capability Relations Oriented To The Evolution Of Operational System-Of-Systems, Xia Lu, Mingzhi Zhang, Jingyu Yang, Changliang Xiao
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Based on the analysis of the capability of the operational system-of-systems (OSoS) and its relationship, the capability relationship description function is constructed, and the spreading effect and emerging effect are explained. The super-network theory is used to establish the ‘entity-capability’ network model and its characteristic parameters. For measuring the emerging effect of the capability of OSoS, the capability contribution domain model and the capability emergence domain model are constructed. Taking the air defense system-of-systems evolution analysis as an example, the capability relationship model of OSoS is verified to provide a qualitative and quantitative method for constructing the evolution set …

Resilience Analysis And Evaluation Of Combat System Of Systems Architecture Based On Dynamic Super Network, Rong Ming, Xiaofeng Hu, Jingyu Yang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The resilience of combat architecture is a kind of adaptability and recovery ability presented by the architecture when the combat system of systems (CSoS) faces destruction, attack and failure. It has become an important index to measure the capability of CSoS. The dynamic super network model is established by mapping the experimental data of CSoS resilience simulation. The resilience index of CSoS architecture is proposed and the resilience measure CSoSIR algorithm is designed. Based on the resilience analysis framework of competitive game, the CSoS architecture resilience is analyzed and evaluated.

Concurrent Conflict Control Method Of "Multi-Rights+Operation Queues" Based On Cpn Tools, Zhili Zhang, Yunrong Zhang, Shixin Ma
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: There are problems with concurrent control methods such as operation rights + timestamp, for example, the role of each maintenance worker cannot be played. The concurrent control method of multiple rights and operation queues can solve this problem. The working principles of the important function modules of this method are discussed, and the operation method of the process flow chart and colored Petri net is given. The data are simulated by the CPN Tools for the entire process. Simulation results show that this method can ensure the operation fairness of the low maintenance personnel, and make every maintenance staff …

Treadmill Speed Coordination Control For Lower Limb Rehabilitation Training Robot, Li Feng, Zhizheng Wu, Hou Wei, Xiaofei Qin
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In the course of active exercise training for patients with lower limb rehabilitation robots, a treadmill speed coordinated control method based on acceleration suppression is proposed to prevent secondary damage to patients caused by muscle spasms. The mathematical model of treadmill is established by means of system identification. Based on the H2 optimal design method and the continuous time system switching theory, the treadmill speed PI controller with acceleration suppression is designed. The simulation results show that the controller can not only reduce the acceleration of the treadmill, but also keep the speed of the treadmill …

Wood Surface Defect Detection Based On Adaboost And Cnn, Hongjun Wang, Zouzou Li, Xiangjun Zou
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In order to obtain the location information and category information of wood surface defects in the early stage of intelligent wood cutting, a combined algorithm for fast identification and location of wood surface defects is proposed based on digital image processing technology for fast recognition and location of wood surface defects. The Adaboost cascade classifier algorithm is used to extract the candidate frames of the wood surface defect region in the image in order to solve the problem that the traditional segmentation method is not effective for multi objects processing. A CNN model with self-learning ability is used to …

Control Method Of Unified Svpwm For Three-Phase Four-Switch Fault-Tolerant Apf Based On Inductor Current, Jianfeng Yang, Jiang Hui, Tianqi Zhou
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The algorithm of conventional space vector PWM for three-phase four-switch fault-tolerant APF chooses different coordinate transformation control algorithm based on the fault location selection of phase A, phase B, phase C. The calculation process involves a lot of coordinate operation, and, is not conducive to the fault switching. A unified SVPWM for three-phase four-switch Fault-tolerant active power filter based on inductor current is presented. The traditional SVPWM control needs complex coordinate transformations. The simplified algorithm takes the inductor current change as the control target, doesnot complicated coordinate transformation calculation, and the form of the calculation is unified, which is …

For One In Four Very Young, Low-Income Children, Parents Are Young Too, Jess Carson
Carsey Publications
In this brief, author Jessica Carson maps the distribution of children living with young adult parents, describes their parents’ characteristics, and details ways to strengthen policy supports that can fortify their families’ ability to succeed. She reports that while fewer than 5 percent of children live with young adult parents (age 18–24), the share among children age 0–3 is 16 percent, and among low-income children that age, it is 25 percent. Low-income young adult parents have different characteristics than their older counterparts; for example, they are more often parenting their first child with no co-parent present, and they have higher …

A Just-In-Time Learning Soft Sensing Modeling Method Based On Bayesian Gaussian Mixture Model, Qi Cheng, Weili Xiong
A Just-In-Time Learning Soft Sensing Modeling Method Based On Bayesian Gaussian Mixture Model, Qi Cheng, Weili Xiong
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: For some time-varying industrial processes with non-Gaussian properties, the model established by the general soft-sensing method is difficult to meet the accuracy requirement. To solve the above problems effectively, a JITL soft sensor modeling method (BGMM) is proposed based on Bayesian Gaussian Mixture Model. For the given training sample set, the number of components of the Gaussian mixture model is optimized by Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC); For new test samples, Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) model is established by using the BGMM similarity criterion for the training samples to find out the most similar set;The model is used to predict …
Gender Roles In The United States, Robert Bush
Gender Roles In The United States, Robert Bush
Student Works
Can men and women be separate but equal? In our modern society, equality of the sexes is generally accepted as a fact. However, according to Separate Spheres Ideology, women and men have different spaces in society where they fit best. This ideology traditionally says that women belong in the home and in situations involving child care, while men are better suited for the workplace (Miller & Borgida, 2016). Can men and women be expected to fulfill separate roles in society and still be treated as equals? What positive or negative effects do gender roles have on individuals and organizations? Are …
The Dirty Clean Fuel, Sawyer Krivanek
The Dirty Clean Fuel, Sawyer Krivanek
Op-Eds from ENSC230 Energy and the Environment: Economics and Policies
Hydraulic fracking began nearly 80 years ago and was initially headlined as a brand new, fuel efficient alternative to coal and oil. Natural gas has been disguised as a clean fuel, when in reality it is just another dirty, polluting, environmentally harmful fossil fuel. The detriments of fracking heavily outweigh the benefits, and it needs to be banned on public and private lands. Natural gas has been viewed as a cleaner alternative to coal and oil, so immediately fossil fuel industries took advantage of that narrative. Consumers, eager for cleaner alternatives, have been tricked into buying into the fracking fad. …
Don’T Give Up On Nuclear Energy, Daniel Gertner
Don’T Give Up On Nuclear Energy, Daniel Gertner
Op-Eds from ENSC230 Energy and the Environment: Economics and Policies
The nuclear power plant failures at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl in the late 1970s and 1980s split Americans into two passionate camps. For some, nuclear plants posed serious threats to both environmental and national security, and, for others, nuclear energy remained the most viable path to clean, reliable power in the United States. But following the fervent debates of the late 20th century, the national conversation around nuclear power stagnated. A few ardent advocates and opponents notwithstanding, nuclear power left the public eye. Popular energy debates—especially among young people—now center around flashier topics like the Green New Deal, electric …
