More Than Writing: The Application Of The Writing Process, Logan Kelley Oct 2019

More Than Writing: The Application Of The Writing Process, Logan Kelley

Tutor's Column

Beginning writers often struggle to apply the writing process. In order to help them understand this concept, it is helpful for tutors to draw connections with outside disciplines that the student is already familiar with. Most problem-solving approaches contain parallels with the writing process. Educational research shows that meaningful connections will help students apply difficult concepts. Tutors will best support beginning writers by helping them develop a consistent application of the writing process.

Emergent Masculinities : Gendered Power And Social Change In The Biafran Atlantic Age, Ndubueze L. Mbah Oct 2019

Emergent Masculinities : Gendered Power And Social Change In The Biafran Atlantic Age, Ndubueze L. Mbah

Ohio University Press Open Access Books

In Emergent Masculinities, Ndubueze L. Mbah argues that the Bight of Biafra region’s Atlanticization—or the interaction between regional processes and Atlantic forces such as the slave trade, colonialism, and Christianization—between 1750 and 1920 transformed gender into the primary mode of social differentiation in the region. He incorporates over 250 oral narratives of men and women across a range of social roles and professions with material culture practices, performance traditions, slave ship data, colonial records, and more to reveal how Africans channeled the socioeconomic forces of the Atlantic world through their local ideologies and practices. The gendered struggles over the means …

Undiscovered Composers In Modern Saxophone Repertoire, Kenna M. Pospisil Oct 2019

Undiscovered Composers In Modern Saxophone Repertoire, Kenna M. Pospisil

Honors Capstones

My Capstone serves to showcase women composers and composers of color living in the present day. I performed four pieces of music written for saxophone and accompaniment at my senior recital by these undiscovered composers. The reason I found this topic intriguing is because I feel many modern classical composers are underrepresented. I made a distinct effort to include non-white, female, and living composers into my recital. My scope included creating a list of exclusively female composers for saxophone, finding atypical instrumental pairings with saxophone more than saxophone solo with piano, and by composers whom I could contact. I used …

UBT International Conference

Increased care, implementation, and greater importance in creating fiscal policies that impact in the economy and family consumption began after the declaration of Independence in 2008, when the first tax reforms were made. But the fiscal reforms called the "Fiscal Package 1" which started its enforcement by the end of 2015, especially the VAT reduced rate for household consumption from 16% to 8% had the main effect on the consumer basket and the family budget, which is also the main approach of this paper. Based on the analysis of many indicators, statistical data and questionnaire we have verified how much …
