Improvement Of Forex Pairs Trading Strategy With Machine Learning Algorithms, Ronnachai Jirapongpan

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This thesis aims to study machine learning to improve the trading performance of pairs trading strategy. Pairs trading strategy is one of the most well-known algorithm trading developed in the 1980s by a group of scientists and mathematicians. The concept of the pairs trading strategy is to exploit the mispricing of two equities which their prices tend to move in the same manner. When the algorithm captures the mispricing behavior by equations or indicators, traders open a short position on the equity which its price is relatively higher than the equilibrium and open long position of the other equity. If …

Pointwise Dimension Of Archimedean Copulas, Noppawit Yanpaisan Jan 2019

Pointwise Dimension Of Archimedean Copulas, Noppawit Yanpaisan

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

In this thesis, we introduce the pointwise dimension of a bivariate copula C at (u,v) in [0, 1]2 via its C-volume. This quantity gives a broader view of probability mass distribution than the support of a copula, the smallest closed set on which the whole mass lies. We would like to study some fundamental properties of pointwise dimension, including the equality to pointwise exponent whenever both of them exist. After that, we investigate the behavior of the pointwise dimension of copulas constructed by various methods. In the last part, we compute the pointwise dimension of Archimedean copulas, an important class …

Machine Vision Integrated Three-Dimensional Printing System, Chaiwuth Sithiwichankit Jan 2019

Machine Vision Integrated Three-Dimensional Printing System, Chaiwuth Sithiwichankit

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Three-dimensional printing has been a widespread solution of fabricating geometrical customized products. Any 3D printed product is normally fabricated at a position defined with respect to the coordinate system of the corresponding 3D printer. So, the 3D printing cannot be conveniently implemented in some fabricating applications in which fabricating positions are commonly constrained to some physical references, e.g., architecture construction, surface restoration, food decoration, etc. This research aimed to integrate the 3D printing with machine vision, which is vastly used for guiding robotic systems to operate at desirable positions constrained to physical objects. Hence, the 3D printing can be conveniently …

These pricey components result in an expensive system that does not worth to be used in some practical applications. Therefore, this research intends to utilize other low-cost sensing devices so that the final price of the developed system can …

The Role Of Chromatin Structure In Cellular Responses To Bacterial Cytolethal Distending Toxin In Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Model, Siriyod Denmongkholchai Jan 2019

The Role Of Chromatin Structure In Cellular Responses To Bacterial Cytolethal Distending Toxin In Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Model, Siriyod Denmongkholchai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Cytolethal distending toxin subunit B (CdtB) is a DNase I-like bacterial genotoxin that causes DNA damage leading to cell cycle arrest and cell death. Previous reports demonstrated that CdtB has low level of DNase activity in vitro. Besides, a mutation at histone H2B phosphorylation site required for chromatin condensation during apoptosis (S10A) conferred partial resistance to CdtB in Saccharomyces cerevisiae model. Therefore, we hypothesized that chromatin structure may affect CdtB function. In this study, we identified chromatin regulators required for CdtB cytotoxicity in yeast. We found that deletions of certain components of SWR-complex (SWR1, SWC2, SWC5, SWC6, and ARP6), INO80-complex …

A Feasibility Study Of Diffusion Weighted Imaging And Parametric Response Map Analysis For Treatment Response Prediction In Nasopharyngeal Cancer, Titiya Jirawatwanith

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is an MRI technique which provides functional information of tissue by detecting microscopic motion of water molecules. The change of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) derived from DWI was used as an imaging biomarker for treatment response prediction in cancers. However, it was based on whole-tumor analysis which did not reflect heterogeneity within the tumor. To overcome this limitation, a new method called parametric response map (PRM) analysis was proposed to evaluate response by quantifying voxel-wise changes in ADC. Here we investigated the use of PRM analysis on ADC from DWI as an imaging biomarker for treatment response …
