Pre-Discharge Bnp: A Policy Change To Reduce Hospital Readmission, Melissa Duckett Jul 2019

Pre-Discharge Bnp: A Policy Change To Reduce Hospital Readmission, Melissa Duckett

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Heart Failure (HF) is the leading cause of hospital readmission for patients 65 years of age and older. A pre-discharge B-type natriuretic peptide is a strong predictor of hospital readmission and mortality. The annual cost for admission of patients with HF is greater than $17 billion. Diagnosed heart failure patients continue to be discharged without the physician knowing their current BNP levels. The Affordable Care Act established the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP) requiring the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to reduce reimbursement to hospitals with high readmission rates. A change in policy should be initiated to include …

New Perspectives On M&A Research, Zhefei Li

Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)

Corporate acquisition is among the most important strategic tools wielded by managers to achieve competitive advantage. Acquisition may create strategic values for the acquirer by gaining market power through industry consolidation, diversifying into rapidly growing industries, entering into emerging markets, and most importantly by combining unique valuable resources from acquirer and target. Despite the many appealing aspects of the motive for acquisition, however, meta-analytical studies suggest that though highly beneficial for the target firm’s shareholders, acquisition on average destroys acquirer shareholder values. to understand the determinants of acquisition performance success, it becomes imperative to study the antecedents as well as …

Effectiveness Of Exceeding Expectations And Demonstration Of Concerns For Repairing Trust In Collaborative Relationships, Kyi Phyu Nyein

Theses and Dissertations

Interpersonal trust in collaborative relationships has been found to lead to positive outcomes, such as satisfaction, perceived leadership effectiveness, teamwork, and successful organizational change (Fulmer & Gelfand, 2012). However, trust can decline naturally or can be broken due to unmet expectations as trust involves expectations of positive intentions from another individual or positive outcomes from the relationship (Bhattacharya, Devinney, & Pillutla, 1998). In order to continue and achieve successful collaboration, trust must be repaired using different trust repair strategies such as providing apology or denying the responsibility. The current research examines exceeding expectations and demonstration of concerns as two understudied …

This research is a case study exploration of organizational change involving technology (also referred to as ICT) in the national security domain of the public sector.

This research used machine learning and manual content analysis to compare the results of three experiments on interview transcripts. The first experiment investigated linkages between empirical and interpretive elements of organizational change. Empirical …

Thus, the pursuit of a deeper understanding of the means by which commitment develops is critical and warrants empirical investigation. This study, therefore, is to determine the levels of organisational commitment among librarians in university …

Human Error: The Impact Of Job Insecurity On Attention-Related Cognitive Errors And Error Detection, Lara Christina Roll, Oi Ling Siu, Yau Wai Simon Li, Hans De Witte

staff_fulltext

(1) Background: Work-related stress is a major contributor to human error. One significant workplace stressor is job insecurity, which has been linked to an increased likelihood of experiencing burnout. This, in turn, might affect human error, specifically attention-related cognitive errors (ARCES) and the ability to detect errors. ARCES can be costly for organizations and pose a safety risk. Equally detrimental effects can be caused by failure to detect errors before they can cause harm. (2) Methods: We gathered self-report and behavioral data from 148 employees working in educational, financial and medical sectors in China. We designed and piloted an error …

Problem-Solving In Complex Settings: Techniques For Crossing Organizational Boundaries, Adrian Wolfberg Jun 2019

Problem-Solving In Complex Settings: Techniques For Crossing Organizational Boundaries, Adrian Wolfberg

Engaged Management ReView

Solving problems in complex organizations requires managers to successfully navigate organizational boundaries. Yet, crossing boundaries can be an extremely difficult endeavor that requires sophisticated and multifaceted skills and behaviors. In this paper, we introduce boundary permeability to expand on the available boundary crossing techniques identified by Carlile (2004). Acknowledging the messiness in organizational life, we propose a set of techniques requiring that managers consider the multiplicity of boundary conditions and, in many cases, use multiple techniques simultaneously. We describe an innovative, real-world, problem-solving program within the U.S. Department of Defense to demonstrate the practical application of the proposed techniques and …

The Qualitative Report

It is essential to have an effective care process to promote colorectal cancer (CRC) screening particularly in rural areas. In this qualitative study, we aimed to explore the whole clinic processes of recommending and referring CRC screening in the rural accountable care organization (ACO) primary care clinics. We collected qualitative data through 21 semi-structured in-depth interviews with healthcare providers in rural primary care ACO clinics in Nebraska. We audio recorded and transcribed the interviews and …
